    These trends are so funny! I just found out about “cinnamon girl”, kind of like “vanilla girl” but instead of whites/creams, we have beige/browns 😂😂😂. How can we keep up 😅

    I just started watching this video and had to stop to comment on how funny you are. So good. These are probably my favorite videos you do even above fashion because of your humor.

    Coastal cowgirl is just BOHO. Again. I love my cowboy boots. I grew up in Arizona and live in Texas. I wear them often and it’s not really a “statement”

      As a 5th generation Texan, I agree. For us, it's a way of life...not "put on". Having graduated high school in 1975, I grew up in the Boho heyday, and I do love a mix!

    This explains my sister’s teenage granddaughter…there is great freedom in knowing you can take care of yourself - soft girls better get a good job and save money or they will be old, broke soft girls…

    Anything Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy wore then is still current now. That’s how beautiful her war was. That style is never off. Great video again

    You explain these, so so well, darling! Quiet luxury is my favorite one… Basically anything Carolyn Besette Kennedy wore is what I want! I kind of dress that way, and I love it!

    Attractive young women who just want husbands to take care of them find themselves out on the street without skills when their man wants to move on to a younger version! This “goal” doesn’t speak well for either the woman or the man involved. The men just want to show off what a hot young number they got to their friends and enjoy your bod while it looks so good. Young women don’t realize that they are targeted by men of this type specifically because of their youthful looks, but these don’t last forever, so neither will the marriage. I’ve known too-old men who tried to snare me by telling me how much they admired my brain or character, or how “different” I am, all the while addressing their “sincere” praise to my 21-year old 34DDs, tiny waist and flawless legs. Yeah, right, they want you because “you’re special!”

    The modified schoolgirl-uniform look of the “Blair Waldorf” thing is so weird, I can’t believe how influential it’s been, I hear about is constantly. We just called this preppy style in the 70s-80s, but it was a real-world style, what we actually wore to private school and college, not nearly so costumey as on that TV show, which I never saw. (I don’t watch TV, I never have, I’d much rather read). At least leave off the headbands! As for Bookshelf Wealth, I didn’t have a single wall space on which to put another bookcase 15 years ago, but many hundreds of unhoused books. After a back injury, I no longer wanted to shift those heavy, bulky book piles around constantly, plus they get so dusty and in constantly in the way. So, I edited my books down to only what I can’t get recorded, or books where visuals are important, like my architecture, art and design books. I hope English Country House style (not cottage!, which is very different), does come back in. My Victorian home decor developed into that style, which suits older architecture, is eclectic, classic but homey, and flexible. I just inherited a lot of possessions and they blend in well. Plus, it I can buy antiques and other old furniture, which I love because it’s made of wood, not plastic.

    It’s crazy to me how Gen-z aestheticize every aspect of every type of life 😅 I’m not hating as a fellow ‘Zillennial” however I believe it comes from a deep need of wanting an anchor point of security (to fit in one place firmly with their lifestyle) due to the economic and social instability they are born into compared to other generations. These trends are cycling through so rapidly though! It’s really not sustainable anymore.

    • @MarianaZelenjuk

      It does make sense, actually … I also find that the current culture is very lacking in creating iconic, memorable things that people want to imitate. It just borrows from what already exists…🤷🏻‍♀️

    People are so gullible and "influenceable." I certainly believe in role models, but this tiktok thing is terrible, and certainly not helping our society. TY for the humor and help with interpreting what in the world is going on.

  • @sibymiller
    @sibymiller Před 8 měsíci +1

    Hi Mariana, I am gonna correct you something. I heard you saying "joking aside", it is not like that,...it's "jokes aside". Now, on the topic of your video, I also don't want to be a "girl boss". The expectations that "society" has of us are ridiculous. Men run this world, but women are paid less for doing the SAME job. And here comes my "Barbie" monologue (that I have been using for years at this point): We "need" to be thin, healthy, look "put together", be a good daughter, be good/responsible/loving wife, and...still sensual (for the man not to leave you), but respectful and not "too sensual". With studies...ADVANCED studies, a well-paying job, our own place, enough money to live by ourselves, etc, etc, etc. Who on earth thinks that ALL of that is possible for ONE person??? It is NOT. Yes, we want to be "independent" but not robots!. In my case, I also want to be a billionaire, but am I going to stress myself and "work my ass off" to achieve it?? and risking to become a mess or fat or skip my skin routine? NO. My husband can work to earn enough money to take care of us 2 and our 1 kid in the future,...he is paid more than I will be anyway. And God forbid his friends or family see me looking like a disaster...because they might think that "I don't deserve him". Give me a break with the "boss baby" culture.

      Hi - I want to add something to your comment. No woman should ever allow herself to become fat and sloppy, no woman should have a sloppy house, and no woman should ever neglect her education. She should be as educated and well mannered as she possibly can be.
      She also needs to be able to cook and take care of people.
      The type of marriage she enters is up to her. And both she and her partner need to contribute equal (even if different) to the partnership.
      You cannot expect anyone to take care of you for free.

    • @sibymiller
      @sibymiller Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@CocoB22 Of course not for free. Men work outside the home and women inside. I don’t bother him and he doesn’t bother me. In a marriage everything has to be balanced. In my case, I rather answer to my husband than to obey 2,3 or more strangers at work. He though, LOVES his job, so luckily we’re good.

    • @kathycourtney2
      @kathycourtney2 Před 7 měsíci

      Not true...for the exact hours and job they are paid the same, the difference comes when men usually will work themselves to death, longer hours, and willing to give up holidays, and weekends to work...most women do not want to do that.

    • @sibymiller
      @sibymiller Před 7 měsíci

      @@kathycourtney2 It is true. Go do your research (well) and you'll find out the ugly truth. Now, of course, if you are a server that gets paid $5.65 x hour (I did in Florida) in that case, both men and women get the same money. But for jobs where you had to study, like law, medicine, engineering, administration, etc. they for sure do. Also, of course, women will try not to work weekends/holidays, etc ...because WE HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THE HOME AND HOSTING OR HELPING THE HOSTS, TAKE CARE OF THE KIDS, AND CLEANING TOO, men...do not. Everyone always expects the woman to take care of those things, if a man does it, AWESOME...but most of the time they don't.
