My Welsummer hen Karen is my favorite hen. She follows me around the yard and talks to me. She’s the best!

We have 16 Welsummers. Love them. Three went Broody this Spring, 1 hatched chicks that are 6 weeks old. She’s been a great Mama. ❤

I added a welsummer to my flock in the spring. She’s almost 7 months old and has not started laying yet, but gosh she’s gorgeous and so fun to watch. She’s an adventure seeker and loves to jump onto the highest points possible. I can’t wait until she starts laying those beautiful eggs!!

My Speckled Sussex hens are like dogs. Very friendly. And at three years old they are still producing eggs pretty well. Never raised a Welsummer, but they look sweet.

I have 3 Welsummers and they are sweet and do lay beautiful eggs plus they are older than 4 years old and I still get a few eggs a week from them. They seem to be more flighty but they will walk beside you and in front of you if you have treats. Pretty funny lil birds

I just got two Welsummer Hens at about 20 weeks of age, Contrary to the video, the one thing I notice compared to my Isa Browns is how well they fly! I went to catch one one in the corner of the pen and shew flew up strait over me easily about 10 ft! They seem to take flight around the yard very easily when startled...

I have four standard and one bantam Welsummers. The standard ones are all toward the bottom of the pecking order. I named one Melody because she is always singing, usually not loud, but just consistent.

We have 12 chickens total (different breeds) 6 of them are Wellsummers, one of them is a rooster. They’re young 4-5 months old. The rooster is finding his voice 😂. Funny when the rooster first starts crowing 😂. So far I like them.

I want a Welsummer Rooster, they are so beautiful! The hens are pretty too, and so are the speckled brown eggs. I like the fact they can tolerate hot summers (with cooling of course). I don't think those tall combs will do well in snowy climates, they'll get frostbite. Such a beautiful bird. Its a toss between a Leghorn Rooster and a Welsummer Rooster. Those duckwings, and golden coloration is eye candy. I love both these breeds. I also think we should rename the Leghorn to Livorno, which is the correct name before the English butchered it.

I have one and she is a beauty... Someone told me on Facebook. Well actually I've had a couple of people tell me that this is her breed. Someone else said a different breed they thought she was a wyandotte, But she looks a lot more like the wellsummer... She runs to me when I call her name. She's always following me around. She wants to be right by my side. Her best friend is a rabbit, They love ove each other very much... And she loves being picked up and carried around like she would love it if I did that all the time! She loves hugs and kisses, and she seems very smart! She loves her egg crumbles everyday besides her chicken food, which I add oats and either some polenta or right now has some grits in it... But she loves the hard boiled eggs mashed up, and gets excited when I say Birdie, Do you want some egg crumbles? Anyway, she's adorable. I don't really have a yard for a chicken. I'm trying to make it work but I've also been trying to rehome her... It's really hard because I love her. And I'm extremely picky so no one's really good enough, for me to rehome her too!

Same here, I'm a volunteer bird rescuer and my little 7mnth old came in as a rescue at 1wk old having escaped from a commercial breeder with several others. She was the only one found alive. We have adult hens in our sanctuary grounds, but we were worried she would be pecked to death, and she couldn't be left on her own as a flock bird breed, so home with me she came. She's been with us ever since, lives in our house with two cats and a dog, has a roosting crate in our bedroom for night time. Rest of the time she's free roaming in the house, comes with us to work and has access to the work garden during the day. Our yard at home is small, but we are making it hen friendly, with plants, toys, and shelter for the weekends. I to was looking for a good home for her, but she seems to love her life as it is, and we are all besotted with her. She is laying now for us to😊. It isn't impossible to keep a house hen, she is very biddable and rules the roost in our family. She is being introduced to a walking harness for when we walk the dog, normally she comes with us in her carry box. She goes shopping with us to😅. I don't think you will regret it if you can make it work, she sounds happy with you and bunny.😊

I love my Wellies!!! The girls are so sweet but so is the cock. He is not a noisie crower with just sticking to mostly pre noon with occasionally post noon crows. All of my hens lay speckled eggs and do so every month of the year with from 1 to 5 eggs depending on season and temps. The birds I have came from Deer Run Farm out east. Some eggs almost approaching Marans color, but I find the darker the egg the kiss speckles they have. An A+ chicken breed.🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔

Got a Welsummer after my Buff Orpington died the other day (no idea why, wasn't home when it happened, roughly 10 days old) and I'm not entirely sure that it was the best replacement, significantly less egg laying, louder, but supposed to forage better...we'll see
