Wow! He is incredible. So athletic, it must feel like sitting on a powder keg. Well ridden. Considering how busy the yard is he has an amazing head on him.
I’m so excited to see Embers journey honestly found a one in a million horse!
I loved him at his first appearance on your channel and with every vlog featuring him, I seem to love him more and more. He's a total star and you are doing a super job with him; just riding really beautifully; so calm and positive. It also really warms my heart to see him so happy and relaxed. He strikes me as a kind fellow, but a bit anxious and I think he's living his best, happy life with you and loving the work! Plus he's so good at it and so smart! You really can't beat the brain of a clever TB and he's very bright! ❤
I can't wait for him to settle in and harness his natural talent. He's going to be unbeatable! Love the baby phase, though, where he seems to be asking with each step if you want 110% effort. lol He's so cute! A little Ember glowing bright!
Haven't gotten past the warm up yet but I love how soft, calm and patient you and your trainer are with Ember.
Horses come into our life for a reason 🥰 he doesn’t look at fillers etc you guys will have fun xx

I just think Ember is the loveliest horse! He is just so much fun to watch I cannot imagine how much fun he is to ride. Everything seems so effortless for him. I am so happy you bought him and am looking forward to more videos of the two of you. He seems to make you so happy!!

I think buying Ember was exactly what you needed... a green horse that you could work with. Sometimes we all need something new in our lives. Best of luck with your new boy.
8:42 to 9:05 as you went into the canter track on the right lead, he was perfect front and back, and as you both went around the hill, he looked like he started bouncing a bit, and he came out at the bottom, disunited at the back 🙂. He kinda looked like he was trying to bounce his front end into left lead. I also love the way he turned into a stag at 13:31 with extra leg lift and extra flicky toes.
Ember is just precious! It seems like you’re not gonna have any “stopping” or ducking out with this dude. I ❤️ him and so happy he found his way to Justine and you!! He looks very happy 😊

When you first start retraining them the biggest asset of an Ottb is their forwardness. The biggest draw back is their forwardness.
As a rider you have to learn to trust yourself to ride and control it at the same time.
That session showed your on the right track.
Ember has something about him. Once he figures things out he makes it look easy. You are going to have great fun together.

I think what I'm loving seeing is your confidence blossom with him 🥰 I've been watching your vlogs and Back To Basics/Swipe Up for a while now and I've always thought you a very capable rider but has anxious tension which works against your goals when in the saddle (I hope that's a fair comment, it's not meant as shade!!) But even in this lesson, you could see how you relaxed and trusted him and he softened and gave you a really good ride. I'm really going to enjoy watching your progress together! Xx
What a horse! To see him standing and then moving, my word, what a difference. He literally transforms into a lovely orb of graceful motion. So amazing to hear the joy in your voice, I am so pleased for you! AND he is so smart, and so interested in what he is doing! I swear he looks like a different horse when he is with you. I swear all ex racehorses start off like this, he’ll be perfect in a few months! They just need time to change shape. My two ex racehorses were exactly the same as Ember except they wouldn’t canter on the right lead and Ember doesn’t want to canter on his left 😂 good luck with him he has a lovely attitude!

Ember is an amazing horse. You've got something very special with him. Good job buying him when you had the chance to do so, because he has everything you want in a horse that's going to do eventing. Just watching him move, he's incredible. He likes what he's doing, he wants to do it, and like the instructor said, you can't put that into a horse. Ember clearly has that special something, and I'm glad you bought him when you had the chance to, because we get to watch him, and see how he progresses. I think his prior owners recognized that he's got that special something, thankfully, and you were in the right place at the right time. What an awesome little horse you've got!!!!!

Your lesson went great, Lucy. You and Ember rode well, and you could certainly see his excitement in jumping. Ears forward, he was relaxed both you and Paul were calm, and Ember was having the best time. I love the way he flicks his legs, and he was certainly listening and giving you 100%. I can see how laraugh prepared you for him. You handled it great when his blood went up. Expect to have these moments with a OTTB but it gets better & more manageable. Your not a emotional rider so you'll be fine! I'm really looking forward to watching all the vlogs with him. I come from a racehorse family, my father a jockey & my brother, I'm a trainer . Not everyone is cut out for a thoroughbred but you got this!

Well ridden, Luci. Oops! That’s why I’ve never had just 2 poles. My boy would hurdle them. Ember is so lucky to have such a sensitive rider like you. Ember was so ready to do an 8 furlong dash for you but you gently eased him into doing something new for him. Love it❤️
I mean having more than 2 doesn't stop them
@@NoThankUBeQuiet True. I would get combinations of, over the first then launch the last two or hurdle first two and clatter the last 🤣. Three made him think more and he would figure it out, bless him. Maybe it’s because he was Welsh. He did poles Bear stylie 🤣 (see Elphick Event Ponies)
Lovely lesson to watch. You both make a great team. Love the jump over the blue poles at the start you'll have no problems with ditches 😀

Well, it certainly looks like he's not depressed any more. He's enjoying his work. This little horse could take you places, Lucy. Still green and excitable, but he has the paces (what a walk!) the expression, the athleticism, the jump and the speed to make a very nice event horse indeed. He looks very smart when he's under saddle. Your vlogs always make my day. Thank you, Lucy. Wishing the two of you much success.

My absolute favorite videos are the ones where ponies are being trained and learning what things the rider needs to pay attention to help the horse learn.
Also, his right leg goes so much further than his left when walking, trotting, and cantering. Maybe it's the angle. He seems to reach with it.
He’s simply avoiding currently with all that flex and running off. What a fabulous animal. Must allow his movement and again not be afraid of the longer ones !

Glad he is the size he is because he is HOT! Talented, sweet, super sensitive pocket rocket that is going to be amazing. He is really, really lovely and I am so glad you found each other. He will reward you in spades for being his person. A horse like that, with the wrong person it could have ended so wrong and it would not have been his fault. YAY!!!!! PS the canter track is genius. I need the canter track in my life.

I can't decide if he didn't know what to do with his feet or he just has so much natural athletic talent he enjoyed changing legs every few seconds. He was epic by the end!

I have to say very impressed. I have a boy that is identical or was, in attitude, from drifting to leg pic up in canter etc. He is ubber intelligent and his brain never switched off and I can without a doubt say your boy is too. Interested to know his breeding. Not in to jumping for years more dressage so not fully aware of this trainer but he is bloody awesome. So calm and right. I love your horse

My duaghter's trainer (who is a great dressage trainer for us) says that what she loves about TBs is that they remember what they've learned. She says Warmbloods have to be reminded (sometimes retaught) after breaks. Not the TBs!
