  • I spend a lot of time trying to come up with strategies to get difficult Shiny and Hidden Ability Pokemon, but these 10 COMPLETELY REGULAR Pokemon drove me crazy.
    Notes: I noticed a couple spelling errors AFTER rendering. This why you should proofread more than once :S
    Update: Although this was based on my experiences, there are a couple noticeable omissions, due to the fact I never even attempted to try and catch them. We might need a follow up....

    • @xa1551
      @xa1551 Před 4 lety +16

      Nah, it's not that bad. You can find 2 of the 4 trees with your trainer ID, and after that it's only a matter of time. The 6 hour wait isn't that bad because you can do anything you want in that time. Sure, it'll probably take a few weeks, but the actual time required playing the game isn't very high. Also, after finding a Munchlax, there's a 90% chance that you'll find it again next time you slather that tree. So, like Feebas, finding more of them is a piece of cake.

      I already knew how to "read" braille, but it turns out I never realized they existed until Gen 4 with the Regigigas hints. But of course, I didn't have compatible WiFi back then (for Gen 4 I think is when it started), nor a place that handled any Pokemon Events nearby, so the Legendary Golems were out of reach for me. As to why I knew Braille, it's because I went to a school that had a dedicated staff towards disabled children. I was thought to have a disability back then and was placed in classes with them and ended up learning Braille. And having discovered respect for those disabled (both children and adults). Best people/friends I ever got to know back in elementary school. Oh yeah, I can see btw.
      Yeah, a year late or whatever. I'm bored and decided to watch some old videos to pass the time. That's when I came across the comment, and figured I'd pitch in my 2 cents on Braille. It's actually a great and fun way to read books. A shame more books aren't in Braille (At least the ones I like reading).

      @@MLPIceberg Are... are you saying you PREFER to read in braille? That's... kinda fascinating lol.
      Is your reading speed anywhere comparable to regular text? I imagine not, but I've always been curious. I guess theoretically you could probably "read" braille (with your eyes) almost as fast as regular letters (probably a little slower given that the different symbols aren't as easily discernible since they weren't designed to be sight-read), but an actual visually impaired person seems like they'd be limited by the speed of their finger (which is presumably less than the speed of one's eyeballs tracking words on a page). I'd love to know what the actual speed difference is; if any visually impaired commenter ever happens to read this, please let me know!

  • @Cherrytangela
    @Cherrytangela Před 4 lety +13

    No, my choice for this is the HG/SS Metang.
    As many of you may or may not know, the Johto safari has a bit of a weird gimmick, called blocks, after you get the national dex, and completed both of the Safari wardens (Baoba) challenges, you unlock various items to use as decorative lures to attract new pokemon, this is how you get various pokemon such as Bronzor, Riolu, and in my case Metang in HG/SS.
    The problems with this gimmick is that you might need to look up a guide to find various mons, which leads me to my 2nd and probably the big deal-breaker for many of you.
    Each block that can attract pokemon has a set value, at the start each block has a value of 1, with each area capping at a total of 30 blocks.
    There are 4 different block types that attract various pokemon: Plains, Forrest, Peak, And Waterside.
    Now you may be asking "How do I upgrade the value on my blocks" Well the answer is simple: You wait 10 IRL days, for one of each block type to upgrade, and they all upgrade in the order above. With the cap value being 4.
    So to maximize the total value of each block, you need to to play HG/SS for a little while for 130 days, or 4 MONTHS. and this is for each individual Area (And no, changing the date on your ds/dsi/3ds will not work). But, once they are at maximum value, removing the blocks or the area does not reset the multiplier.
    So for me, I needed to wait a whole MONTH before I could get the chance of finding a Metang in the mountain area with a value of 56 Peak point values. I prepared also by stocking up on repels and getting a lvl 43 pokemon with Magnet Pull (the Magnemite line being the only real option), Thus increasing my rate of finding a Metang to majority odds (with the only other encounter being Lunatone)
    Now the main issue with the Metang line is that, it has the same catch-rate as legendaries, and I mean 3/255, so getting this in a safari ball .... yeah.
    It took me a week and a shiny lunatone later to finally catch one. But with all the preparation, time, and tedious "running away", i question if it was really worth it.

      If it wasn't bad enough it has only 1 percent rate to appear, it can only be found on a few special trees which are every playthrough different ones, decided somehow by your trainer ID and there are no visuable differences to the "normal" trees, so it is pretty much:
      Honey about all honey trees, keep your game on for 6 hours and fly again from tree to tree.
      It can take weeks or months to just find one

Trolls you by making you think it's a UB so you can just throw a beast ball at it even though that's just making your life even worse. Also it shows up in normal grass so not many will notice it and the main strat for finding it makes you not get to use your main Pokemon (cause repels and levels). "Trainer Tip:
      The world of Pokemon is a vast mysterious place with many hidden wonders. If you happen upon a place where there is writing on the walls, but you can't read it, think about something that might help you solve the puzzle... It might be Braille. If you are unable to search out the answers you need, remember you can always contact Nintendo for help."
      I remember it not having that information because when I was a kid that's the first place I looked for help before searching the internet. I also have the Ruby manual and the Sapphire manual and both of them have almost the exact same message just with a couple words added.

    The Regi puzzle is part of the reason they’re my favourite trio, and I love that even in ORAS - which makes most aspects of the game incredibly easy - they continued the trend of bizarre gameplay mechanics to unlock Regigigas.
    Most legendary trios are thrust in your face during the course of the game; even the legendary beasts, while challenging, need to be unleashed as a story step. You could play through Hoenn and never even know they existed, and the steps to unlock them were so strange you wouldn’t believe it if you weren’t using the Braille key included in the game manual to translate the tablets; you’d write it off as crazy rumours.
    To this day it gives the Regis an aura of ancient mystery that few legendaries have.

      I have a friend who has a story relating to obtaining munchlax. He toiled for days finding the right trees, and once he finally found the right ones, he was blessed to find an Action Replay in a Wal-Mart

    Drifloon is said on its Dex entry to carry away children, on a Friday is when kids are most interactive, school days they usually go straight home, Sunday and Saturday the children stay at home. And that's my theory

    Kangaskhan definitely deserved its spot in top 10, especially when you take into consideration the context of the time period. When the game first came out, information wasn't easily accessible online. In the 90s, you couldn't simply look up why Kangaskhan kept breaking out of the ball and whether to keep tossing balls vs. using some combination of rocks, food, balls, in a certain order. I managed to get 150/151 of my pokedex complete as a kid. Kangaskhan was literally the only one I couldn't nail, because there was no way that I could tell that I was supposed to repeat the same strategy over and over, and which one to repeat. The difference between "This is the wrong strategy, I need to stop doing this" and "This is a low % strategy, I need to keep doing this" is incredibly difficult to discern in a pre-internet gaming world. The creator of this video caught it in 30 minutes (15 minutes on 2x speed) on an emulator, but that's because he knew what to do. Imagine trying to pull this off when you have multiple different combinations to try and zero information on which path is the one you had to keep repeating. It was a nightmare.

    I think Munchlax deserves it's own spot, or at least to be an addendum to the Honey Tree Pokémon. Each time you start a new game of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum a random few honey trees are even capable of attracting a Munchlax. If you want a Snorlax in a Sinnoh game, good luck.
