There will be a similar runway in germany soon located between Düsseldorf and Cologne. The asphalt piece will be a bit longer tho. The point of it is to be a run up area for glider pulling so the pulling aircraft can speed up quick enough to a point where the glider can hold its wings on its own. We can't do a full asphalt runway because of budget and environmental regulations.

Bopfingen Airfield in Baden-Württemberg has a piece of asphalt and lots of grass as well. But on top, the asphalt piece is crossed by a public road :-D It's the German Gibraltar.
interesting my guess would have been a "reinforced" touchdown zone to not mush up the ground but then the braking can happen on normal grass

The thing about the Cub is, it doesn't need a paved runway in the first place. So I'm still curious what the paved portion is actually for.

Swiss, you should check out KLOF in Microsoft flight simulator because it's a really short, thin concrete runway, WITH CARS DRIVING ON THE RUNWAY, and the fact that it is a literal road. I even had trouble taking off the Pilatus PC6 and the Cessna 152 there.

Talking about RC Plane Runways, I found interesting airport ( LOGW ) in Austria
My dude, look into the Zenith CH 701. It's a proper STOL aircraft, to the point where it's practically VTOL. IIRC it's the current record holder for shortest takeoff IRL. It needed something ridiculous like 50 feet of runway.

Maybe you should try the Zlin Shock Ultra. This Plane / Helicopter thing could takeoff and land without the help of jesus. It is literally able to takeoff/land on helipads!
