They only disappointment is that the last sound of this video should have been thunderous applause and a standing ovation for an outstanding performance. Bravo!
i was applauding in my living room. Does that help?
I agree, 100%!!!
Exactly my first thought
Totally agree. Maybe they can do it before an audience sometime.
I prefer without thunderous applause, even tho I utterly believe it IS what would follow a full-house performance. BRAVO GENTS, that was BREATHTAKING 😍😍😍
The way you two work together is like you are twins who always know what the other is thinking. Your concerts have been a wonderful bright spot in an otherwise dark year. Thank you for your contribution.
Sitting here watching this by myself, I very nearly stood and applauded.
I think my favorite part of this Duo, is that neither instrument over does the other, they did an excellent job in doing both instruments justice with this piece, and this is by far one of my favorite renditions of Rhapsody in Blue. Gershwin is one of my favorites.
Have to give much credit to Tom for excellent audio recording mix. A large pipe organ is a difficult situation to record in the first place. Blending it so well with the piano gives us this wonderful result. All these videos are very well recorded, hats off to Tom
This arrangement is an almost perfect marriage of piano and organ for this piece As wonderful an instrument as the modern piano is, it can't approach the sheer power of a church organ, but the piano also excels in ways that even a great church organ can't touch. A wonderful arrangement and a fantastic performance from both brothers!
One of my most favourite pieces ever. Never thought of hearing it on a pipe organ and piano together. Beautifully done gentlemen, bravo.
Being a church organist and sometimes pianist for more than 60 years I can say the two of you have presented an outstanding rendition of this music by Gershwin. Beautiful!!! Thanks so much.
Tears in my eyes, especially during these rural times in Gershwin's birth country. Always interesting to hear how the orchestra is transferred to the organ. This struck the moods so fine. This is a cry of hope for America.
I would never have imagined Rhapsody on a organ and piano, but it was fantastic. Will watch again!
What a pair of remarkable musicians.
Gershwin would have been in rhapsody! Nearly 100 yrs old, and this composition is still as fresh and exhilarating.
Now THIS is the kind of "Rhap" music we really need!! WOW!!!
Wonderful! We all know how terrific Jonathan is. But I've been listening more closely to Tom. He can really make that piano sing. Thank you Jonathan and Tom.
Yesterday I was privileged to hear the brothers play this mighty work and other pieces on the superb organs and piano at East Sussex National hotel. What talent and what entertainment! Brilliant.
I sat with arms folded totally prepared NOT to enjoy what I was sure would be a bastardization of this, my favorite of the Gershwin library. But... I'm blown away. First by the mastery and pure artistry of the brothers and also the brilliance of the registrations used on the organ. This solo stops are just divine! Thank you.
What a pleasure to see and hear the Scott Brothers, for a change in perfect balance this time! Chapeau to Thomas for his stunning pianist solo skills and Chapeau to Jonathan for his perfect accompaniment and for taking a step back in terms of prominence and volume! Moreover, both of you swing like a rock with perfect sense of groove and rhythm! What about the two of you in gorgeous George´s Piano Concerto in F? Piece of Cake and Exactly your Cup of Tea!
This performance was totally awesome!
Wonderful arrangement, superb timing and playing by both. The balance between the piano and organ was just spot on. Another triumph. Thanks to both of you!!
I was just going to say that myself: they did a good job of mixing the two so the piano doesn't disappear behind the organ.
Apparently, the very first pianist to play this in concert in the UK was Horace Finch, during his time at Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Horace later went on to become organist of the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool.
Flawless beauty. So much so that tears of joy and appreciation are evoked. The brother team is unmatched! Thank you gentlemen!
What a wonderful blend of instruments loved it.
Nice to see Tom in front of a keyboard rather than solely behind the camera.
This is an absolutely stunning performance by the two of you.
Do you ever travel to France? I'd love to see you perform in person here.
I am gobsmacked. Bravo! One of the best renditions of Rhapsody in Blue I have ever heard.
I have enjoyed these two playing The Rapsody in Blue over and over. I play it on my phone constantly. I loved how beautifully the organ and piano complemented each other. Congratulations guys on the best version of this piece I have ever heard. You both were/are marvelous. Thank you for your wonderful gifts that each of you have and for sharing with us. God bless both of you.
A truly magical interpretation by such talented musicians !
BRAVO! Both of you. New York brings out the best in you both: first it was Pietro Yon at the RNCM: now this! Just brilliant.
Hi~It's a couple of years later and I've listened to this rendition many, many times, as have members of my family. There is one word that works really for me, and it is BRAVO! This piece is a winner. XX
I have saved this video. I have chills from listening to the most outstanding presentation of music I have heard. Masterpiece - Beautiful - Brilliant - Wonderful
Absolutely amazing performance.Lost for words. Jonathan and Tom you are geniuses! Thank you for all your videos.
Abosolutly brilliant. Unusual combination of organ & piano. Like only the Scott Brothers can.
I have been a regular at recitals in Liverpool for over 30 years, but had never heard of the Bridgewater Hall organ or Jonathon Scott.
I only came across him by accident last February.......just my luck, just before the first lockdown !
I only hope I make it to his fist public performance......
Their playing is just jawdropping
The best arrangement of this piece of music I have ever heard. Bravo gentleman, well done.
Amazing transcription - the representation of the orchestral textures on the organ is out of this world. As for the performance, it is perfection. Brilliant work, Maestri!! 💜
My favourite! Great, superb, wonderful. To be heard with closed eyes!
Je suis en admiration devant tant de perfection pour ces deux pianistes un grand bravo.qui interprètent Rapsodie in Blue.
What a wonderful rendition of this classic piece by these two amazing virtuosos. Would never have thought it possible in my wildest dreams with piano and organ; George must be smiling!
Two of a perfect pair.....
My heart is pounding...srunning!!!!
Absolutely stunning performance
Magnificently performed. All that talent in one family. Thank you for brightening an otherwise depressing year. You are truly appreciated here in the States.
Fantastic! I love how the sounds of the piano and organ mix together, besides both players are so talented, it was a joy listening to this arrangement, this was a good day to go to church!
Wow!!...Just...Wow!!!
I was sent a link to Jonathan's online organ recital (March 2020) and worked through to find out more. It is very fascinating to watch and listen to these two talented brothers. My husband and I play organ and piano together but are real amateurs although we have been playing (mainly church music) for years. Bless Jonathan and Tom the joy they bring to so many with their music.
My goodness! What a superb listening experience! Thank you!
You always can tell when Tom is having fun…watch his face.
I have heard it on piano and theater organ duo many times before but never a classical organ. Man, you pulled all the right stops!!!!!! Best ever both of you.
“…pulled all the right stops.” I saw what you did there! 😁
@@garysandiego Well, there are a couple pulled on the left.
WOW! This is a great arrangement! The coordination between you both was amazing!!
I have never heard this piece so profoundly played. The audio engineering was also superb.
Unreal ! Never considered this piece done with piano and organ !
I'm not normally a great fan of church organ, but I'll make an exception for this! What stunning masterery of their respective instruments, and so beautifully recorded, too! Through my studio audio, this is perfection!
Wow! Never heard the Rhapsody on the organ. Love it!
Wow, absolutely fantastic. Where did those 23 thumbs down come from? What's the matter with these people?
My thoughts, exactly!!!
That had to be some of the best and most well-spent 18 minutes of my life!! Superb!!
Bravisimo!!!!! Another masterpiece of arranging and performance. Thanks from Arizona.
Just BRAVISSIMO 👍👍🙌🙌👍👍
wonderful. nice to hear it played with balls, too often a sanatized pretty version is played. people forget he was a fairly young and vigorous man and something of a party animal. i have heard his recording of this on a player piano, using a roll cut by Gershwin and your playing fits the bill. adding organ is just sublime. i am constantly fascinated by your dexterity on the pedal board. i can understand your hand dexterity, but marvel at your foot dexterity. it must have taken a great many hours for that to become muscle memory. I have listened to all i can find of your classical pieces the thieving magpie being a particular favorite. thank you for hours of happy listening
APPLAUSE! Mom's favorite. Thanks gents.
Absolutely amazing!
And it's wonderful to see the fun they're both having while playing it :-)
I love Tom's fist pump at 6:28, and all his facial expressions throughout the piece!
Wow, had always thought about this arrangement, and now you made it happen! Great!!
THIS NEVER GETS OLD!!!!❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎼🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹😁😁😁😁😁
Beautiful playing and ensemble. Thanks, Tom and Jonathan.
Unbelievably brilliant - congratulations Guys so good. M
WOW, excellent concert, greetings from the Kingdom of Spain. 💥💖💥👑
Who needs a orchestra? Great arrangement and beautifully played! Thanks.
Absolutely brilliant. Hopefully we will hear more like this. Well done and thank you both 👏👏👏👏
I played this for my senior recital and now I play the organ at church. Such a gorgeous song and amazing musicians.
What a wonderful way to start the new year!
Well, I'm actually listening to this R in B every day now! It happens that I need to hear it to start my day off right! I continue to get thrill chills up and down my spine at the end! Thank you Scott Brothers for this beautiful video of your exquisite performance!
Gershwin was a genius to come up with a work so astoundingly moving, and the Scott Brothers played it to perfection!
Semplicemente stratosferici!!fantastici 👏👏👏👏grazie per queste perle uniche!!
Terrific. Bravo. 😀
What a great arrangement - and great playing, as always from the Scott Brothers Duo!
Just one more outstanding performance of great music achievements.Beautiful coordination between the organ and piano. And, indeed, some new sound emerge not usually heard. Thank you for an amazing rendition of this classic piece.
Never thought I needed Rhapsody in blue to be played on the pipe organ but here we are
Magnificent! Bravissimo!!!!!
I'd like to hear more concerts by Dr. Tom! Both are talented artists!
I was truly rhapsodic over this rhapsody. Gershwin, and especially this piece, as I've never heard it before. But something that I'll listen to more than once, rest assured.
Simply Brilliant !!
Were this the offertory piece at my church, i'd have no choice but to drop at least 20 quid in the plate.
Here in the US this was used extensively by United Airlines. When I hear it, I have an immediate urge to make sure I have my plane ticket in hand lol.
@@mysock351C This explains so much of what happens when I play this for my friends
@@mysock351C Very interesting comment !
Absolutely 🤗. "Shades of Benny Goodman.". This is the most remarkable and phenomenal talent! 😊
Fantastic arrangement
What a moment. Greatings from an organist here in the south of Portugal
Nicely done! Always a favorite of mine and you two played it to perfection.
You guys are too much fun!
Per fortuna che non l'ho perso invece l'ho ripescato! Ottimo connubio pianoforte e organo, bravi Maestri e grazie.
Beautifully performed! That had to be a very complex arrangement to perform as well as you did! Thank you for sharing this performance with all your CZcams viewers who love listening to talented musicians!
Truly amazing! You demonstrated the spirit of Gershwin by this fantastic, brilliant arrangement!
wow, this is so well done!
Just Brilliant. Thank you both!
Awesome performance. This piece really highlights what range can be had through good registration. You both played with masterful expression. Thanks from British Columbia
who needs an orchestra when you have a pipe organ? Exciting rendition!!
Woaaaah yessss organ and piano 🎹🎹🎹 best friends making music together
What a briljant idea to make an arrangement of this fantastic concerto!
Tom - So nicely done. I don't think you really needed that score either. What an incredible rendition of this most incredible piece. Well Done, Boys Another demonstration of the magic of the Organ and the ability to render orchestral prats so clearly. Thank you both for a job well done. To you Tom, Wonderful sound. You captured the magic of it all.
I cannot stop watching this piece. 😀😀Absolutely and totally amazing. Such great skills, and you made it all look so easy. I would dearly love to be in the audience to hear this too. Thank you so much J+T. 🥰🥰
