INFO: Homeshake is the RnB-pop and solo-project of the Montreal-based singer-songwriter Peter Sagar. The project was formed in 2012, but although he wanted to do his own thing Peter spent a lot of time supporting Mac DeMarco as a part of his live. In 2014 Peter left and decided to make Homeshake into something more serious. They’ve released 3 albums so far and had close to 1 million monthly listeners on spotify when this video was made.
he’s a humble genius. his music is full of ingenuity.
lol Rubio ehh not so much on the new record, it's kind of samey.
where my OG Homeshake fans at?
Where the Sans Aids guys at?
@@MashPotatoJohns damn you went real far back with that one
Here
@@MashPotatoJohns Eyyyyyy right here man ha
You have any Sans Aids music. I lost my entire digital music library and am currently rebuilding.
lol fuck off
LOL this man said the rent was cheaper in toronto than edmonton what a joke
Title of the video is a bit lame. Peter is hardly a slacker, dude is very prolific.
I disagree saying Peter doesn’t have a good voice dude is a genius with a very laidback energy but a confident hunger buried within
I'm surprised you didnt mention his early EP The Homeshake Tape! It's definitely my favourite of his stuff, just wish it was on spotify.
Probably his best work... But I definitely love all his stuff
I feel the same that tape is amazing along with the other 1st and 2nd albums... I feel as this dude said that the 3rd relies more on his voice instead of the instruments, I didn't hate it but I don't have it on repeat over and over and over as the tape or the other 2...
Moon woman is just my hit!
I have the cassette tape, it's blue. My ex got it for me off discogs I think.
He lives in Montréal, not Toronto. Montréal's rent is cheap, while Toronto is the most expensive city to rent in in Canada
I was confused about how the rent could be cheaper in Toronto when compared to Edmonton lol
Nah it’s Vancouver my dude
2:10 Mac and Peter did not start a band in 2012 and release albums together. Peter was just Mac's touring guitarist.
Pretty sure Mac was still doing makeout videotape in ‘12?
@@aidanjonsullivan4919 yeah he was with Alex Calder
your research is lacking. Many infos that you could've found we're left out. Like the studio where he was recording and who he was recording with. Theses infos are all available and are a big part of what Homeshake is. Especially the guy (Jackson Macintosh) who helped record the first 3 albums at the studio (that was called Silver Doors at the time, and then got shut down and re-opened with the name Drones Club) oh and in an interview Peter talks about the fact that every single day he'll make a new song. He actually never stop. Not a slacker.
so after playing for Mac, he used the money he got from touring to keep his shit going? Sounds like he wasn't slacking.
Exactly. This guy works hard, to claim he's slacking off is disrespectful.
Jeff Mangum- The Story of a Successful Hobo
I love how he kinda based his music off of how his vibe is irl , like he’s a homebody so a lot of his music sounds like something you would play at home on a chill day with loved ones . As for his voice I personally believe Peters vocals aren’t bad there’s a lot of artist who have kind of weird raspy vocals but I feel like if you have decent vocals and lyrics to go along with an amazing instrumental you made then it makes up for it most of the time . And last thing is I truly believe bro is not a slacker he most definitely puts in a lot of time in his craft and probably has over 1000s of songs he did not release and he seems like he loves the craft a lot so he’s just one of those artist that like to take their time and really think what their album vibe is gonna be , what it represents , how he will rollout the album , and if he feel like it matches how they’ve felt
I had never heard of Homeshake before, but I am a huge Mac DeMarco fan, so I will check it out for sure. Thanks, Lie!
Homeshake - every single thing addictive as coke
"great to listen to when the sunday light hits you in the eye." what a weird thing to say
That’s what I loved about the 3rd album. His voice cracking and shit. I thought it was tight af and real and gave me the motivation to use my own voice.
mostly every musician is working on his vocal skills and will not stop for it, i think. For my opinion, he has great vocal skills now(I am enchanted of that since i was in one of his concerts this year!! )
didn’t think I’ll see a Homeshake video any time soon, thanks! very cool :)
Do connan mockasin
fuck yesss
😫👌🏼
yesss🙏
spark up a hooch for that one
This video is an injustice to Peter
Never took him for a “slacker” or a “indie rocker” or whatever, he transcends even being labeled. Way more than some indie poster boy. He’s a genius of a generation, same for Mac. Just like boomers reminisce Neil Young or Jerry Reid, I’ll be reminiscing Mockasin, Homeshake, Mac Demarco, Ariel Pink, Ty Segall etc.
I remember when I used to play Wii Music when I was 10. My dad was like “look at you playing music! You’re gonna be a pro!” When it was literally me just clicking a button when I know to play a note. For some reason that game was kind of a catalyst for getting me hooked on music. I do enjoy music a lot now and I’m hoping to get really good at guitar and maybe get into singing too. It would be sooooo cool to make a living out of it like guys like this
Completely disagree with you on the third album my favorite of his with some great melodies and voice work that is imperfect thus intriguing and good
glad you did a homeshake video been a longtime fan
How could you not mention “every single thing”
Do the Growlers
I've never heard of him. been listening to him all day.thanks for that!
Do a video about (Sandy) Alex G :)
@@MashPotatoJohns That leather heart and those leather gloves
Yes!
HECK YES!!!!!
YESSS
His voice is beautiful
Great idea with the Spotify playlist.
FINALLY never thought i'd ever see one of these well researched videos on homeshake
legend
thank u
And he found a song by Maria Carey
So I guess "like mariah" is about Maria Carrie 🤔
marco jasso
Well the lyrics are “Oh if only I could sing like Mariah does”
marco jasso yeah, he said he really admires people with high voices like mariah on the apple music description
Yeah it is, he said when being asked that he wishes he could sign high notes the way she does
Could you do Toro Y Moi? Thanks!
YESSSSSSSSSS
When I see the artist and bands you're reviewing I see you had good taste. Three of my top artists/bands which have nothing to do with each other: Kurt Cobain, Todd Rundgren & Homeshake.
Great work.
Oh man, thanks for a HOMESHAKE video
Why is there no Understanding King Gizzard? Middle 8 already did his take, but I'd love for you to add to your library
I second this
now im the one who listens to homeshake to sleep lol lowkey his music helps me sleep.
Me too

I think I was one of the people who requested this video. Thank you.
Does this mean there will be an Alex G video soon?
Yo you stole from my Homeshake vid and no credit?? Come on man, what's up with that??
Prove it boi

@@DowntimeMedia like from a video or??
Rob Ramsey yes siree

Are all hard working musicians considered slackers or something
Saw him in brooklyn by far one of the best shows ive ever been too
Hey man I would love to see a video on TV girl or Marika hackman
Yeah TV Girl would be tiiiiighhhhtttt
Please do TV GIRL!
rent cheaper in toronto? might wana do your fact checks mate
i think Peters flawed voice adds to the appeal.
He's from Montreal but you showed Toronto as the background
Great video.
Guys, could anyone explain to me what does it mean “do an anchor” in music?
I’m a Brazilian guy and I couldn’t findthat expression meaning. Thx
Can you make a video on the band Black Midi? They're a sensation in the London underground scene, and have a very unique math noise sound. I think they definitely deserve more recognition
You forgot to add "The Homeshake Tape" in your list of records he released. You could have also mentioned his new album Helium being on the way.
Going to see Pete in March 😊
Same! Chicago!
wow im suprised to see homeshake on here, pleasntly suprised :D
Holy shit never thought he'd get covered. Love him and Sans Aids
Caught me by surprise
I think the 3rd album is great as well. Hé has a good voice
love his voice,
It's wild because on the Helium tour he did an encore. It was life changing.
Any snippet I ever hear from "Blue in Green" makes me wanna go listen to Kind of Blue again.
Yoo i recommended thisss
Considering going to go see him live, is his live show worth it?
Yesssssssss!!!
Yessss I love Peter
YES!!!!!
I really enjoy peter's music. Thank you, great video
Fucking luv him so much evert song for years has been my fav
beautifull video
You put a photo of Toronto behind Mac and Peter at the beginning when you were talking about Montreal lol
He fell asleep to Kind of Blue at age 11? I didn't listen to (and enjoy) that album untill my late 20s. He was cooler at 11 than I am now...
The third album is my favorite and I love "Every single thing" B)
The Story of a Guy with a More-Talented Friend
That's Toronto in the background. As a Montrealer I am fucking livid.
In my senior year of highschool, me and my mates would get blasted on acid and listen to his whole discography. From Homeshake Tape to (at the time) in the shower. He played in my city, and I talked to him, blasted on acid. Kinda freaked him out a lil bit.
You shoulda mentioned Homeshake Tape and Sans Aids.
👏👏👏
His voice is the best
fukcing love Homeshake!
He was absolutely murdered while playing with Mac because their schedule was crazy. I'm happy to see him doing well
BRAH DID U MAKE THOSE ANIMATIONS? DMANNN
Omg omg omg!!! Other people know who Homeshake is!??!?
Fr I thought i was the only one lmao!?!
Homeshake is getting somewhat big nowadays. Definitely more well known in the indie community then, say, a couple of years ago
He's very popular, all people somewhat into indie know him
He's pretty mainstream right now. I met him like 2 years ago and since then I have seen him live many times. Every time he comes to New York he sold out every single show.
+RyanVoio maybe so but in real life I've never met a person who knows him
Fresh Air is the best of the three albums boyo! This Way is my faaaaavorite song. Under The Sheets might be a close second.
good video but why no mention of makeout videotape??
Homeshake's first album was the Homeshake Tape released in 2013. I hate to be pedantic but if you're going to do a video essay on a specific artist the least you could do is get basic shit like that right.
yoo mah boy Piter gettin' his own video..nice.
*cool, yet steamy atmospheric pop*
Homeshake finna slap hard tho
Please reupload your Understanding Ween video (you could take out the part that got flagged for copyright). It was an important source of information on Ween.
i really like homeshake tape, wasn't even mentioned in this video tho :'(
If someone made a video about me and described me as a slacker I would probably just go study primary school teaching or some shit and never touch a guitar ever again
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
imma come back after his next album hits..
According to Genius, Mac Demarco's song "Treat Her Better" is about Peter Sagar and his bad relationship with his girlfriend. But I haven't found any information on that.
Do innerwave next
Inner wave is next level
TheGoobsters facts
Hey Lie, have you ever heard of the band GIRLS? Or Christopher Owens?
Can you do a video on the Angelic Upstarts great ban from the 70s to the late 80s
Modern ethics dictates that only hard, non-stop work is the pass to success, and that only hard work is worthy of praise. Fuck that.
What is your personal opinion of homeshake’s music as a whole? How much do you like it?
Great to see a video on a bedroom pop artist. Any chance of a video on Good Morning? Easily my favourite modern band and I feel like they deserve some more appreciation?
I like how he used one of my favorite songs from Fresh Air to describe its flaws. (Personally, its my favorite album)
Same
Same
Can you do Understanding Lemmy or Ritchie Blackmore?
did you just say maria carey
Homeshake is a Montreal based musician *puts him in front of a picture of Toronto*
