Story 4: If the gender roles were reversed, people would be begging OP to give her a chance and excusing her actions. 100% stop being Vague OP and tell him how you feel, maybe talk about yourself and see how he reacts? Like it feels as though your letting him see you as his failures, you do know he can change that perception if you give him a reason to. But it sounds like your the one ignoring him and its only giving him mixed signals and telling him that you dont love him. He's going to understandably abandon you again if you dont put similar energy into this relationship. This can be saved and it will be OP's fault if he backs out, because unlike OP, at least he was trying to reach out
Here’s the thing, he also has mental health issues. OP had depression and anxiety. They are trying to accept things in order to move on and start a real relationship with their estranged parent. I do understand how simple it sounds to just play nice but when you have those horrible memories and they were never there for you in the first place, you are still going to feel hurt and the parent almost feels like a stranger. I hope they can work on themselves to then have a better relationship down the road. The type of healing that’s going to require can take years.. and that’s ok. They just have to both be willing to communicate their feelings and find a common ground to stand on.
