I spent a whole day dressed in a 1300th knights armor painting a tiny miniature knight bust. I gotta be honest, dressing up in an armor was awesome and i had a great time. Was it practical? Well i guess you have to watch the video to see how it all went down when i painted a historical miniature knight.
Massice thanks to John Bakke for helping out with filming and lending me his armor and Anders Nelle Nilsson for his armor!

Painting miniatures for your warhammer & d&d games. Age of sigmar and warhammer 40k. Space Marines, Space Wolves, Stormcast Eternals, beastclaw raiders, ogor mawtribes, cities of sigmar, chaos space marines, painting scale models, miniature busts! How to paint NMM. How to paint warhammer, how to paint d&D figures. - Jak na to + styl
What clothing companies think men want: suits
What mean really want: BATTLE READY ARMOR
YES!
For the emperor!
@@doomkingraye7692 *revs chain axe, WHAT'S THAT I HEAR ABOUT THE EMPEROR
Full German gothic plate armor.
Now to take it to the next level:
Painting a dragon, as a dragon.
How about carnosaur in t-rex costume?
Well... Hm...
Now take it to the next level:
Painting a Squig, as a Squig.
You now have a much deeper sense of empathy for your knights. Respec
Haha quite so! But man, they got to look cool all day!
When you realise the bust of a knight has no arms
TIS BUT A SCRATCH

"Your arms off." "No it's not."
The next logical leap would be painting a Sisters of Battle model as a sister, with a wig and a full suit of their power armor!
A knight holding a night light painting a knight at night. Sounds like a nightmare 🤣
dont you mean.. a KNIGHTmare?
LARP as the mini or bust of your choosing! I liked the matching outfits in this video
Paint a wizard while dressed as a wizard! It will probably look more goofy but be more practical.
This was awesome!
Wow! This was pretty impressive work for a knight. Next up: Elf paints elf!
you should dress up as a vampire and paint one, that would certainly make Miniac happy ;)
Full set of armor and it still looks better than any Knight ive seen, Great job Emil!
Great!!! I had so much fun watching this vid...
I was a reenactor for 4 years and i know what it's like to wear a full armor... Respect, for this!
"Paint a viking, dressed as a viking!"
The best thing with armour, is the feeling you get when taking it of after a full day running around in it.
Next Level would be :
Painting a Space Marine as a Space Marine.
Cheers
painting after a few (around 10) beers is always a funny experience. sometimes I do this after a night out with mates and in the morning I wake up to find a painted mini thats sometimes actually pretty decent.
lol i recognised that sigh of relief at the end of the video. Having made my own chainmail torso out of 10mm spring washers (many years ago now), after a 16 hour day wearing it & entering "battles" , that moment of weightlessness when 25kgs slides off your back is bliss.
Such a fun video - for your next one, you could try to dress up as a marble statue, with body paint, toga/robes and all, and try to paint up another bust or display mini as if it were marble as well.
I'd like to see you paint some Infinity models. Paint a TAG dressed as one? Or maybe a ninja?
You look good in that armor bro! You look good in the doublet too tho, maybe just wear the doublet next time. :-) (also that bust is lookin niceeeeee)
Hi
I' am manufaturing all type medieval helmets, you want to buy right rates?
Omg this was such fun. Kudos to trying different things for the sake of entertainment, really enjoyed.
Also trying things because i've always wanted to try an medieval armor ;)
@@SquidmarMiniatures well if you have a good reason to do the things you love even better! Keep up the great content. May your brush never fray
Did you see the new Silent King mini? Guess we'll have to put Emil through bio transference to paint it.
Great content can be heavy on the body and soul, but as zany as it may be, this is absolute gold. Thanks for shouldering the burden of all that armor for the video, Squid! The Knight turned out pretty dang cool to boot!
Next level painting:
Painting a goblin as a goblin with full surgery to look like one
A full witch gettup whilst painting a witch sounds like a real good idea. Big nose, too!
Now the straight-jacket paint session!
Great seeing you paint a historical subject
This is what I call thinking outside the box, quite hilarious Emil. Thumbs up!
The only logical step is to invite 3 friends over, and everyone paints up a D&D mini dressed as the type of character that they're painting
Larping is a ton of fun can recommend! And yes fighting in armor definitely wears you out pretty quickly. It's tiring. never thought about painting in my armor haha
You should paint the pork bust you had made while wearing pork cosplay, so with ear, and facial prosthetics!! Love the work! Looks great!
I would love to see from now on every video in knight armor!
Such a fine line between genius and insanity!
the whole time you are suiting up im taking mental notes of the NMM effects on the armor and how it reacts depending on how you are standing ..it really pics up alot of world colors in the reflections i never realized that before greens and blues ect.
Glad you liked the armor! I hope that means we'll be seeing you at the next medeltidsvecka on our Island of Goths? You obviously have LARP-friends, I want to see Landsknecht Emil painting up a garishly colorful landsknecht-mini!
Definitely the best painting video idea
I used to be a painter like you.
Then I got a arrow in the knee.
Loool
My respects
2:59 The mail shirt is actually the heaviest bit, because the plates are fitted to your body, while the mail rests on your shoulders.
I think I gained even more appreciation of medieval knights :)
I would kill to know what Mrs. Squidmar's reaction to you sitting on the couch in full armor was.
Landsknecht would be a good one! I think they look cool and it'd be easier than full armor
Paint a plague doctor, dressed as one. If you thought that you couldn't see through the helmet, I believe you're in for a surprise. :D
Thanks for this entertaining video!
Love the new intro music, you should paint a Calvary unit while on horse back.
ROFL I wore Leather padded armor when I was an SCA Fencer (Slightly heavier than Olympic fencing gear). There was no way I would try painting in it except with a paint gun on the broad side of a barn. That was amazing! Idea for a video, a squid suit where the longer tentacles are your arms and hands painting a Mind Flayer miniature.
This was AWESOME. And Hilarious. You should be a Wizard next! Maybe do each class of Fantasy hero... Then Villains!
Take squidmar to the next level and dress up as a squid. Every arm is a different tool/color!
Totally Love the Background music
I did some re-enactment way back. Medieval etc. A 15th century gothic full plate armour is relatively light, easy to wear.
Full chainmail armour is sooo heavy. But if you own armour, it just takes time to get used to wear it and learn how to move in it.
If it's hot weather, you have to sweat in your armouring jacket, the sweat wil transport your heat out of the armour. It works kind of like a reverse central heating system.
Always drink a lot wearing armour.
What an amazing effort mate, I once wore a full suit like that for a whole day of a game release and it's not easy at all!!
Next time I think you should paint one of your orc busts dressed as an orc! Or some legion stormtrooper dressed as a storm trooper
Painting a goblin as a goblin would be pretty funny
This was so much fun to watch
It'd be awesome to see you paint a Knight Models Batman miniature in the most uncomfortable Batsuit ever.
Emil: I forgot to put on the gloves, that's cheating
Me: Wait, you've just took off your helmet, that was cheating hahahaha
For the suggestion, paint a fantasy rogue-like mini dressed as a rogue, but instead of hidden knives you have hidden brushes hahaha
Paint the Emil-Orc bust with the baby on his shoulder from your kickstarter dressed as an orc. Bonus points for a full latex facemask/makeup ;-)
I'm so jealous! 🤣
Squidmar provides the content i had no idea that I needed ❤️
Speaking of Knights, have you ever considered painting something from Adeptus Titanicus, maybe a Warhound or Reaver Titan?
Love your work man 👍
Paint a Vikings bust dressed as a Viking. Would look really cool!
I really want to see you paint a miniature with a strobe light on, the WHOLE TIME!
Great video! You should paint nurglings as a nurgling!
I just got started in miniature painting on Monday I am going to look for paint, wash, and brushes wish me luck
Hey Emil it was a very fun video !You should dress up as a Viking !!!
Painting some Nurgle covered in slime makes sense to me...
Also, I'd love to see a guide from you on how you paint white. But probably do Nurgle in slime first. :P
Awesome job especially being so encumbered.
One of the most fun painting videos I've seen for a long time! :D
im all in for siicone goblin mask and night gobbo work!
Dress up as a Warlocks/evil mage and paint one as well 🧙🏼♂️
Awesome paint job. Maybe you could do a Space Marine dressed as one.
You are such a crazy guy! Fabulous!😂
New intro music is dope, Emil. Awesome vid!
You should paint a Nemesis Dreadknight while dressed as a Nemesis Dreadknight. A dude in an armored suit in an armored suit painting a dude in an armored suit in an armored suit. Very meta. 😁
was fun to watch you try the armor and painting
The most funny video i ever see of miniature painting 🤣🤣🤣
@8:35 brushlicker! Yay!
nice video!
I have a suggestion: paint two figures identically.
But paint figure 1 covered with the right eye and figure 2 covered with the left eye.
Trevlig helg Emil! If you ever want to do a video with a rookie, I volunteer as tribute as I just started painting. Next dress up should definitively be a viking.
Keep the great videos coming! Paint imperial guard in an military uniform!
Ah, yes. The quality content we all love.
You should paint the orc in an orc latex appliance and makeup. ❤️
Paint some Tomb Kings as a mummy!
fingers crossed for the sweeps :)
What a bananas idea! I love it!
Already a backer for the brushes! Super excited to get my hands on them!
This one should be fun and maybe a but easier then dressing up like a knight. Paint a Baneblade while dressed like a tank commander or comissar.
Who needs things like fine motor control for this hobby? Everyone should wear plate gauntlets while painting!
Been looking for a new brush for a while, why the hell not.
Just saw an Uruk-Hai helmet on Pinterest - which would be great to paint some irks in 👍🏻
If you liked the knights, the Crupellarius going to be the best choice.
They were armoured gallian elite troops, from the same era like Ástérix and Obélix. But they acctually lived.
Or a Roman Legionary, or some kind of Gladiator.
Haha bra underhållning! 😄 måla Nighthaunt utklädd till spöke 👻
Quality work! Keep it up 👍
I wote for a orc inspired theme. With a lot of random junk from your garage. Make it like a northern swedish orc
as the proud owner of a XV cent. armour, kudos to you for trying to paint with a sallett
I can barely see the sword blows, usually
Next time, dress up as an imperial guard to paint a whole imperial guard army
This is an awesome idea! You did so well even with gauntlets 🤘 well done sir, very entertaining and very good job on the knight
Could you make a video were you paint a bust or miniature using only makeup. Love the video by the way keep it up!👍
Dress as a duchess, painting Minoac's duchess! Or, perhaps, dressing as Jazza, and Jazza as you, and switch a video-idea 😮
Painting in hockey gear seems like a really nice idea :D
Awesome video! Plate armour and chain mail is heavy even for rugby players!
I think painting a Spartan dressed as a Spartan from 300 would be a great idea and much more comfortable.
Just as I was about to buy some knight armour for myself, this video pops up.
Miniac - metal music on videos
Squidmar - hold my platemail
Seriously though, as much of a struggle as it must have been, this was cool as heck.
Maybe paint some dinosaurs in one of those big inflatable orange T-Rex costumes? haha
Love these fun and playful videos. I think you should paint an ork dressed as an ork, to be true to your channel's profile picture.
