- Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed this video clip put together of some heavy duty railroading on the north end of the Clinchfield Railroad.
So, TURN UP YOUR VOLUME!, the sounds are unreal. Especially the EMD's.
Lots to see, and it was great seeing and hearing those EMD's hard at work on the grade between Elkhorn City, KY, and the top of the grade at the Sandy Ridge tunnel at Trammel, VA.
Video clip taken with a Sony Digital 8 Camcorder.

I love in the opening train how you can see the grade begin right after the river bridge

That is a beautiful part of the country James. Just love it down there.

Beautiful scenery and awesome high power action. They all sound and look great.
Awesome video! Absolutely love the loaded coal trains, the classic EMD’s, and the CSX YN2 paint scheme!
Really great video!
Awesome collection !! James.
Thanks James. Its really neat down there.
Now that's some HOT train action, indeed!
aw yea, this is the good stuff right here!
Now that's real railroading!!! Double stackers and manifests are fine, but this is what railroads were built for!! How much of that line is still extant? Great filming, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Robert. As far as I know, the railroad is still in and used everyday. Its not as busy as it one was.
N&W 1218!
"No DPU junk" 🤣
LOL
Excellent video. Great sounds.
Thank you JT, and thanks for watching...
Awesome video and love the coal trains Jack!!!!
Thanks Jeff. From what I hear, coal traffic isn't what it use to be down there. Its a shame.
@@1jackdk You're welcome and its true Jack not much coal trains go by my house like they use to!!!
Great video.
The horn on the very first train sounds like an Amtrak train horn!
Great video, I just found your channel, new subscriber here.
Glad you enjoyed it James, and thanks so much for subscribing. Plenty to see, from the 70's to present day.
Nice Video did Pennsylvania railroad Have a track to Bradford PA because there is ties from a train track on a hill. If so did they have a connection to Western Maryland railroad back in the day?
The Pennsy crossed right in Connellsville and connected to the WM. You can see the bridge in the picture taken from Amtrak station in C-ville. The tracks on the hill would be the P&WV, that connected with the WM. The P&LE also connected with the WM on the other side of the Yough.

Thanks for telling me and sorry to bother you but every picture I find of conrail in Connellsville It’s All four axle engines. I wonder if there was any six axle Engines at the coal yard in the old days.
@@swpandwleandcsx459 Not likely, since most of all that railroad is light branch use. So four axle was the norm. Probably in the employee time tables, the six axle units are prohibited.
Busy around there!!!
Not anymore. Coal traffic is down, one through freight each day, and a grain train now and then.
god tier
GE locomotives dream about sounding as good as the EMD's. They only wish they sounded as nice!
Can't beat the sounds on a hard working EMD.
At 23:55, there were red lights! What's the deal?
What's down that gated off road at 21:20?
Its the access road to the coal mine. You can see the tipple over the tracks in the background.
