Interesting to see Nick Faldo before his swing changes. I used to love watching pro-celebrity golf on the BBC along with "A round with Alliss" back in the day. Thanks for uploading.

Thanks for the upload, I watched one and enjoying the rest, this format needs to be revived in both US and UK. Watching this at 7:30 am reminds me of watching the Open Championship live in Canada back then, usually with blustery conditions

Sadly the eight I have uploaded are the only ones I have.
These were shown on ESPN classis years ago and as far as I know these were the only ones shown. Maybe the Beeb will show them again one day instead of constant repeats of crap in the attic and sodding bargin hunt!

Totally agree with you my friend but sadly they would rather spend our license money on rubbish like what you suggested and the frigen endless cooking programs.

Unfortunately I think a lot of those programs were nt kept on tape ...such a pity ..I used to love watching back in the day RIP Peter Alliss Sean Connery and Bruce Forsyth

It's the complex rights issues which stop these being repeated on Beeb. The show was a joint production with Mark McCormacks IMG group hence why the show could lure with a substantial appearance fee and perks so many golfing greats in their prime to appear - not least some great celebrities too - especially in the shows earlier years. I can imagine to renegotiate repeat fees with some of the golfers or their estates and each and every single celebrity would be a complete ballache to say the least - or quite an expensive one in relation to potential viewing figures.

Many thanks for such a great upload Neil, golfing gold!
I always used to 'book' the telly for these and loved watching the professionals, the amateurs like Tarby and Forsyth were a pain in the backside and who needs comedians when you have Lee Trevino?

Connery's swing really improved over the course of the filming of these matches.

Nick Faldo went to Henry Cotton at Penina. Henry told him to stabilise his leg action - no knee slide. Nick then was titorrd by David Leadbetter who taught him along the same lines. And the rest, 6 Majors, is history.

A championship links course in the wind 🍃 almost impossible to play, absolutely love the video, I've been in the same position many times, and it's tough 🙄

It still amazes me that golf took hold as strong as it did in a place with such short summers and really foul weather possible everyday of the year. It shows how passionate we've always been about the game
