Great lesson. I have been doing this lately, but using 3 values. I will try pushing myself to commit to light and dark by using just two values.

    Great lesson, thanks!
But it is worth to mention that B/W underpainting will give a very dark and slightly dull result if you are about to add a color layer. I don't recommend to do it, but in case of the education it is great!

I’m new to oil painting so the use of so much black on the face during block in seems like it will create a challenge to put in the lighter tones later on. Your explanations are so instructive and after watching your next video, I can see the reason. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your videos are so helpful.

Great "aha" moment. You've been talking about this in class, but seeing you demonstrate it in real time is next-level. I thought "I have to try this". Big breakthrough this evening, so excited! I'll share it with you on discord!!! Hope all is well and you'll be back soon...

Hi, Chelsea! Your art and videos are great, honestly. Just a question as a beginner. Do you use linen oil to thin the painting?
