Saw this on facebook and decided to do my own research. Very tragic for a young man to lose his life and my heart goes out to the family. With that said, the evidence does show that he was armed and resisting arrest. He carjacked a person at gun point, evaded police in a chase, then when apprehended on foot, he ran at the police while armed. He was running before the officer started shooting and his hands were not up. Simply watch the full video and slow it down if you need to: facebook.com/2000Justice4JesseCedillo2020.x/videos/333394401373902. The still images show a weapon, a weapon was recovered at the scene, and a witness claims he had a weapon during the carjacking. The officer's made some distasteful comments after the shooting and in my view should have put more emphasis on getting medical treatment for Mr. Cedillo, so the family does have legitimate complaints.
In summary, very tragic yes, but it wasn't a murder. It was a young man in commission of crimes who endangered others and lost his life by not complying with police. If he came out slowly with his hands up, I'm confident he wouldn't have been shot. Running towards police with your hands on a weapon is going to lead to being shot 10/10 times. Hopefully people can learn from this tragedy, officers included, to not resist arrest and when shooting happen, to do your duty as police by rendering aid as quickly as possible.
