Steph, did you check out Def Leppard and Journey on Monday at Target Field? I see the newly minted Def Leppard shirt :) Thanks for the great video and the excellent drone footage.
I didn’t, but that sounds like that would’ve been a good time!
12K Steph! Slowly but surely.👍🏻 The corn in Say-Low looks like it filled in nicely! Hopefully we get a nice long fall so you don’t have to fight getting it off! 👍🏻
Fingers crossed! 🙂
Thanks. Keep em moving. Snow is on it's way!
Don't be saying that S word already! 🤦

Im tired going up and down that bin 😊
Hey Steph, I really like the Def Leppard shirt. That was my very first concert. Keep up the great videos, this Oklahoma guy likes them.
Thank you! 🙂
Thanks for sharing pain and all
Great video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hey you all !
For every fog in August mean a heavy snow storm but hey you all are used to that !
That looks as bad as flat corn harvest, you all takecare
Let’s hope that isn’t true. 😂
Definitely slow going.. the worst part is if you get a rain when it's down like that more than likely going to end up with quality issues. On our last farm today so far so good
Thank you for taking us along!
Excellent video!!!!
If you have a long enough auger...... We've lifted motors and bin spreaders in and out from our bins with the 13''swing hopper augers before a 150-200 lb motor isn't much weight compared to tube full of grain....
That's a very good idea.. We actually used are auger last year to help with our Grain leg repair..
Hi Mark. I had an auger do the same thing about 3 years ago. Burned off 2 sets of belts. Ran backwards for 5 minutes. Then it works just fine. I have 10 hp motors on my top augars. My shivers dryer is 22 years old and still chugging away. Just dried 60k barley.
This little guy was built back in '13.. I wish they would have put 10hp on ours. Its been a good dryer we've just completely outgrown it. But a new system is a little out of the budget at the moment.
@@MarkHaugen For sure new one are expensive. Mine is a 30 ft diameter. The secret is a big wet holding bin.
Not sure if this will work in your area, but try some UAN on the wheat stubble. Don't need much. That's been done here in MD on corn stalks and it actually helps with the decomposition process. No idea what the cost of the products you are using are, but I'd venture to say that 30% is a cheaper option.
I always enjoy how you guys seem to make stressful situations look like it's not a problem.
I agree.. we'll see how this works but I think in the future a couple gallons of UAN will probably do just as good. We have a lot of time till Freez up for breakdown. At a quart an acre decomp is $9 an acre.. I'm skeptical on the return. Will c .. Thanks for your input.

I remember 55 years ago in west tx
We would burn the stubble when the
Weather was right .
Yet another great video and insight into the life on your farm and thank you for sharing it but I have to ask, why don't you fit crop/straw lifters to the cutter bar/knife (as is common practice here in Europe)lift the crop off the ground and make the cutting cleaner, easier and most likely quicker? When I was younger all combines came with them, however straw shortening chemicals and dwarf varieties of crops reduced the need to some extent. It does seem that you're not leaving too much on the ground though.
I agree if this happens again we'll definitely have to look into that. Are wheat usually doesn't go down like this.
The beginning of this vid should be called "Grumpy farmers" Yikes! Your channel seems to be improving with every vid👍
Could you install a motor reverser at ground level, so if the line clogs you can reverse the auger without climbing.
I've never thought of that.. good idea I'll have to look into .
Another great video and how is the kids hay making operation going haven’t seen anything except for when you got the swather going
We tried making some bales a few weeks ago but the knotter on the square baler isn't working properly. I just haven't had time to fix it. So the Hay operations at a standstill.
Do you ever drive the semi next to the combine in the field, and unload the combine directly into the semi?
We try to keep the Trucks as close to the crossing as possible and just run the cart. In are clay soils trucks really leave compaction
Thanks to all!! Downed crop........😖😠 NOT fun!!!
😂so what is the preference (if there is one) wheeled or tracked combine on Haugen Farms?
And the sprayed chemicals on the stubble are supposed to break down the stubble so there is not so much of it?
Yes, good idea to try to help it break down in the late summer and fall. Nothing happens when it's frozen from November thru April.
Can the wheat residue able to be baled and used for something?
@@dominicdahlheimer6861 Can be, but it removes nutrients and organic material that's beneficial to the soil. If a farm has cattle it can be used for bedding and returned to the field with the manure, then you don't lose anything.
@@lynwessel2471 I couldn't have said it better myself exactly right 👍
Everything seems to be on tracks except for that one combined haha 🤷♂️
That an electric motor on your drive over conveyor?
Yes it used to be hydraulic which is a pain in the butt. we bought the kit to switch it to electric a few years ago.
What is the protein and weight of the wheat?
Protein is all over the board from 13 to 14 test weight it is from 64 to 61 before the rain or after the rain.
What causes the wheat to fall down like that. 700 bushel an acre too heavy to keep standing?
Rich soil and overabundant rainfall produces heavy heads and taller plants. You get some wind with rain it pushes it over.
@@lynwessel2471 . It looked like you guys combines got it picked up pretty good though. Hope it goes better for corn and beans. The weather's crazy these days. Even crazy solar storms. Love you're channel!
@@adamwiseman5831 Not my farm, however I do farm in southern MN. Also enjoy these folks channel.
@@lynwessel2471 lol. Make a utube channel! Might be fun......and more work...
@@adamwiseman5831 Millennial Farmer and Larson Farms pretty well represent what we do .If I had channel, I wouldn't have time to watch 10 other farm channels!
Do you have future plans for pits and a grain leg?
Yes for sure we have completely put grown this dryer/ grain handling system.. future plan is to put in a pit, MiX flow dryer and grain legs dry and wet. Just not in the budget at the moment.
What happens to the we
Wheat straw ?
We hardly ever have wheat go down.. for some reason this year there's a lot of wheat in our area down. I did plant a little higher seeding rate 1.6 million this year and with the cool wet spring it got too thick. Hindsight I would have put 1.3 to 1.4 down instead .
Thanks for your video and I dont mean to detract from your excellent videos, but this person puts out impressive videos of combining on the Palouse area.
His videos are worth looking at on CZcams.
The latest video is titled, - Steep hills and harvesters sliding on soft ground
Trevor Struthers
Did the wheat go flat because of too much nitrogen or was it the variety would a growth regulator have helped
