    The taker thing was I believe was a setup to try and get Lesnar to fight at Wrestlemania that year! I strongly disbelieve that they actually hate each other because Taker has come to most of Lesnars UFC fights to support him.

    • @fighting4exp63
      @fighting4exp63 Před 7 lety +7

      Taker goes to most fights no matter who is fighting if he can get to them, at that point getting the Undertakers streak to end was being discussed but Lesner was not even mentioned at that point.
      Undertaker and Vince wanted his streak ended to put over someone else and both looked for people to do so, but nobody would.
      This bit inbetween Lesner and Undertaker was more them likely due to the fact Undertaker wast he leader of the backroom at WWE (can't remember what they called themselves, Undertaker has it tattooed on him on hist stomach I think).
      Brock wanted things done his way and Undertaker didnt let him come in and rule, cause not only Undertaker to dislike Brock for wanting it his was but also the entire WWE backroom to dislike him.
      This all ofcourse caused Brock and Undertaker to actually dislike each other.
      People may think then why did Undertake go over vs Brock, that guy is 100% when it comes to WWE and will do whatever he can to help out WWE or Vince. (Google Vince, Angle fight Undertaker).

    Debating about who would win a fight is useless. You don't have to be or have been in the UFC to be a great fighter or the greatest. Fights aren't always black and white. In many different situations the outcome of a fight could change. Also, Losing a fight does not always mean you were not as good as the other person, it does mean that you were not as prepared. When i say prepared, it includes all possible factors of a fight, even some that you could not control, something like a specific health problem. There is no reason to beat yourself up after a fight or use it as an excuse to say you were not as good, just be better.

    I've been a WWE fan since I was a small child and there is nothing in this world that would stop me from watching it, and I'm 28. I've been watching UFC since its first ever PPV. If you are a fan of sports and entertainment, then these are the two best sources for both. There's no doubt that WWE and pro wrestling is choreographed, however there is nothing fake about it. Those guys take home pain the same as an MMA fighter. On top of that, they do it up to 300 days a year.

  • @zegrasisinnocent

    I'm a huge fan of both Wrestling and MMA. I've been a wrestling fan since I was a kid and picked up UFC around the age of 14. By MMA, I mean UFC, Strikeforce (when it was still around), and (sometimes) Bellator. I understand if you don't like one or the other but there's no need in saying one is better than the other.
    They're two completely different things.

  • @RobwLPOC
    @RobwLPOC Před 8 lety +20

    I have to disagree with Dana from one standpoint, they are not all that much different in reality. Yes, UFC is real/a shoot while WWE is predetermined/a work. However the promotion is the same you are promoting a fight real or not. UFC promotes using the age old pro wrestling basics. 1. Who is fighting ? 2. When and Where? 3. Why are they fighting and why should I care?.
    If you look at the list almost all the UFC's biggest draws were the equivalent to a heel in pro wrestling. Ken "the dude is wearing pajamas, he is ready to go to sleep and I'm gonna help him"Shamrock, Tank Abbott ,Chael Sonnen, Ronda Rousey and currently Conor Mcgregor come to mind, they create interest by being old school Gorgeous George type heels " I am better looking than you, I am better in the ring and everyone sucks but me" type promos. Muhammad Ali made a fortune using a traditional pro-wrestling villain persona, Ali even credited it to Gorgeous George. "I was watching him saying he was so pretty and was amazed that he wanted to make people hate him. Then I looked around the arena and it was FULL! I realised at that moment I could make more money by having people pay to want to see me lose than win"
    There are more similarities than differences. Jim Cornette called Dana "The most successful wrestling promoter in the world right now" pointing out the only difference is that in the UFC the winner isn't decided before hand.

    You cannot fake gravity, and many moves do end up causing pain, just not enough to incapacitate the other person. Let a 6'6" man hoist you 7 feet in the air and drop you on your back, and then say wrestling is not real!

I'm not denying those dudes are getting KO'd and risking concussions and possible broken limbs with armbars and such...but professional wrestler are putting there LIVES on the line on pretty much a daily basis. Wrestling is very danerous, and I think wrestlers are taking a far bigger risk in the injury department than fighters.

    @ratnick I agree. To say they aren't competitors is absurd. Just cuz Dana said they aren't competition doesn't make it true.

    Well of course, but in that respect then anything you spend time and money on is competition. It really just depends on whether or not you are talking about specific industry-related competition, or just competition in general. Either way, my point was just that it's ok to be entertained by both professional wrestling and MMA.

    Dan Severn was an NWA World Heavyweight Champion and made a great transition into MMA, Don Frye was also a professional wrestler and became a great Mixed Martial Artist, Brock Lesnar had a professional wrestling run and become a somewhat decent MMA fighter and to any MMA fan who disrespects professional wrestling for being scripted, I recommend you watch a Davey Richards NJPW match or the stunts that were pulled in the original ECW and you tell me whats fake.

    @bryantaa That's exactly the comparison you want to make. Boxing may have had problems with corruption but it has always been respected as a real legitimate sport. MMA fans want to see the sport grow to the point Boxing was at in its prime. That's what Dana White wants. It doesn't want to to be compared to some circus act like Professional Wrestling.

  • @bighands69
    @bighands69 Před 11 lety

    I have to admit I grew up boxing and wrestling so I am a bit biased.
    But Pro wrestling is more of a performance sport like gymnastics or high diving all very dangerous but not directly competitive and they are more down to the observation.

  • @drewfla
    @drewfla Před 13 lety

    @theburningattack Also, every UFC fighter understands that they're in a business. They know that to really be successful, you need to have a fan base. Fans are the ones who pour their money into the UFC, and at the end of the day, the more fans you have, the bigger audiences you'll attract for your fights, and the more money you'll make for the company. If GSP and Anderson Silva both lost 3 consecutive fights, do you think they'd be cut? Hard to say, their popularity is almost unprecedented

    I never insulted you, I just pointed out the fact that your comment was misinformed and wrong. Have a problem hearing that you're wrong? You should deal with that now, because it will happen a lot more often as you get older. Brock Lesnar was a UFC Heavyweight Champion. That's all that matters, not how he treated his opponents. This is a sport, not a classroom. The goal is to win, not win honorably. I know you're young, but I'm not insulting you here. Learn from it.

    Boxing has been around for generations, like 1600 if not further. MMA has only been big in America since about 1995, but to see the growth MMA has had in those short years is amazing.
    When people realize MMA is actually safer and understand more of what is going on, boxing wont be nearly as big ... I'd say it's already on the decline.

    @Uppercut416 I'm over this forum but I'll just add that an amateur background is not that important, many respected MMA fighters had little grappling experience before fighting. Most boxers have no amateur backgrounds but I doubt Floyd Mayweather would be written off with such certainty. Plus none of the guys mentioned are experienced shooters, and Benoit never competed in amateur wrestling he learned it all from pro wrestlers, Orton actually was an amateur wrestler why didn't he make your list?

    No reason Dana should be afraid that it would blur the lines, unless he knows something that we don't - that maybe The UFC is somewhat of a work and not entirely a shoot and he's worried about people finding out. That would explain him being oversensitive about "blurring the lines." If UFC is totally real competition, why would he be afraid that fans would be confused by Brock being in both WWE and UFC when McMahon has publicly stated that WWE wrestlers do in their matches what he says to do?

But in light of whats happened I think its doubtful that lesnar would come back to wwe, maybe TNA? Looks like Taker and HHH again at wrestlemania, that should be good fun 20-0.
