As I've been saying for a while - the very fact this game is an Ubisoft produced one, and one of their higher ups said gamers need to get comfortable with not owning their games..... why should anyone buy an Ubisoft game if it's not going to be owned for the future? Why would someone (assuming they wanted the best version of this game possible) drop two hundred dollars or so to buy a game that isn't owned by them? In my mind, there is no excuse. Even if this was the single greatest game to ever come out, it's not justifiable. And to prove my point, look to "The Crew", a game Ubisoft produced, people bought and is now no longer possible to play, despite people buying and owning it. Ubisoft are literally taking back the licenses people have paid for to play the game and not refunding or compensating.
Seriously, don't buy an Ubisoft game. Just don't. And if anyone thinks I'm lying or misleading, I encourage anyone willing to fact check me. Look it up and prove me wrong if you think you can. And considering last time I said not to buy an Ubisoft game and got called a shill, which I am not - remember that this is an argument about voting with your wallet and the right to own your paid for games. I don't have to trick or con anyone into believing that, since why wouldn't you want to own and keep what you have legally paid for with your hard earned money?

@@protalghulnist4126 That’s what I said! I don’t even know how I got called a shill in the first place, but by disclosing in the first place, it just covers the bases, especially since you never know who reads the comments or what someone is thinking.
Ubisoft tell you don't need to own a game anymore. They say you can subscribe to their service to play their games. But they sell you over-priced editions of a game anyway. They say it needs an internet connection to install. Meanwhile they remove another game from people's libraries because it is a bit old. It means, for example when their Star Wars deal with Lucasfilm ends, they can remove this new game from their store and your library and you'll never be able to play it again even though you've made a choice to pay 100s of bucks and buy it physically just to own it. People should think twice before buying a Ubisoft game.
You have every right to hate Ubi or this game for this.
That ain't the special edition Andrew. That's the base game. For $110. Also, the criticism is most definitely warranted.
The base game is 70$, which is a lot, but kinda the norm nowadays...

The problem with buying these editions is the message you send. Do you want publishers to lock content behind paywalls on release for full price games? By all means, buy it. Do you want to prevent that? Then don't, wait for a sale, save your money and pay less for the best version of the game.

@@trollsnrats These dumbfucks who pay over 100 dollars, let alone 80 dollars, for a game are ridiculous. I'm a MK fan and when i saw MK1 for over 70 PLUS DLC i was like "Fuck that". Best part is, i kind of dropped video games due to the increase in price. It's a win win.

The game could just be a Han Solo game and nothing would change. Why have a “Han Solo esque” character when you could just play as Han. Hell, the overpriced cosmetic is just a Han Solo outfit!
Also, the subscription service only works if your game is cheap to play right off the bat. $90 (CAD) for the base game is absurd if Ubisoft is also expecting it to be a subscription. Honestly, I think, and hope, this game bombs even though nothing will be learned from it.

I don't care if it's the second coming of Jesus, there's no way I'm paying hundreds of dollars for a game I don't physicallly own. I'm already up in arms whenever I have to buy a game thats over 50 dollars. It's 2024 and I, like a lot of people, are struggling with finances and content doesn't matter if you can't afford the game.
