I always put makeup prices in this perspective; if I’m working for, say $20 an hour, then how many hours did I have to work to be able to purchase this makeup? I also take into account taxes and times away from my kids when I think about whether or not something’s worth purchasing. So when I buy high end, like Tom Ford, Pat McGrath, etc, I expect it to be worth the time I spent earning it. When companies use gimmicks & change formulas to make an extra few dollars, it just tells me they don’t value me as a customer.
Thank you Mel for being honest & upfront, even though it’s about a brand you’ve really liked. That’s one of the many reasons I follow you. 😍 Still keeping your family in my thoughts & prayers. I hope you’re doing well.
Oh sweet Mel, you have the grit and inner strength of the most powerful trojan horse. I know you you had to dig deep to record this and it wasn't a "happy ever after" ending. You are truly, truly awesome.
At last, someone speaks the truth about Tom Ford doing us dirty. I admire you're no nonsense truth and, as a reviewer, the truth should always come before brand loyalty because WE need to know the truth, as it really does help in our purchasing decisions.
As a long time YT beauty viewer, I have come to recognise the little visible signs that indicate if a product is applying easily or not. I've seen those signs in other YT'rs vids who have been reviewing these two palettes. And all I've heard is the mandatory "oooos" and "ahhhhs" , with the occasional "surprised" intake of breath during application. Truthfully, I don't trust these YT'rs anymore ☹
Brands like Tom Ford and Hourglass are, literally, laughing at us, on the way to the bank!
When you said "it's only makeup" (and I do understand why you said that), in part you're correct but it's not only "makeup" - it's $88, which to some people is unachievable.
Anyway my sweet Mel, thank you so very much. You're an amazing woman, you're incredibly inspirational and beautiful inside and out.

Tom Ford is losing it's excellent quality because the company is owned by Estee Lauder. Lauder ruined MAC, too.

Something is definitely going on with Tom Ford brand. For years, I had Honeymoon Quad on my wishlist. Swatched in Neiman Marcus back then, and was delightful and creamy. Beautifully pigmented and perfect. Last year, I took the plunge and bought. Sadly, it was NOTHING like what I had swatched a few years before! It was dry, dull and had to be applied wet in order to get it to look even halfway decent. I really felt let down. Also, I do believe that the formula was different. Heartbroken for Honeymoon 💔
Hi my Beautiful Mel. I completely agree with you. The TF quads all look alike to me. The constant repurposed shadow in a different color package is infuriating. You created beautiful looks as usual. Thank you for your fair review.
I think something important to note is that Tom Ford is now owned by Estée Lauder. So, it may be a factor of that as to why things are changing there. So sorry you were disappointed Mel, I definitely get that ‘losing a makeup friend’ feeling! I thought you did a great job explaining your feelings and I enjoyed the video! 😄💗💐
100% agree with this review. I did not purchase the Rose prisme palette but I did get the metallic denim palette. The color story is beautiful but thought and felt the exact same way. The formula was different. Much different than their other wet/dry formula palettes. Maybe because of the sparkle in them that changed it? Either way I found this palette to be lacking in pigment and then very patchy. Like you said, if you blend too much, the color disappears and you’re left with glitter everywhere. What a shame because the colors reallly are beautiful

I think you can get the Nordstrom note credit back. Speak to your SA and the Dior Denim palette is gorgeous and there is more diversity in the blues for a variety of looks.
Could Sydney Grace have dupes for any of these shadows? I appreciate your unbiased opinion too.

You look absolutely stunning, Mel! Your bronze tan looks great! The Tom Ford palettes look beautiful, but it’s a shame that they underperform. I still haven’t purchased any Tom Ford eyeshadow palettes, and I guess I won’t be any time soon. If I do, I’ll pick up an older palette at a better price off of eBay.

Terrific video…as always. I love Rose Prisme for exactly the reason you don’t. My skin tone is light, I have blonde hair, and blue eyes. This palette is very flattering on me when I want a neutral look. :)

The rose prisme looks like a cheap version of PML Fleur Fantasia.

I am not seeing why you disliked this so much, it looks beautiful. And his price point is high nothing new, people aren't shocked with that. I am just not getting the dislike. I love the luxury brands and sometimes bc it feels like a treat. Anyway. It looked stunning
I think she is referring more to ease of application and texture of shadows. Mel can make any palette look good on her eyes
Her words are not saying that. If it's price, she could have said that without going over and over it. I love her videos. This was a video on the price that she had issue with. It felt like she wasn't liking the product. Listen again
She only has issue with the price because these new pallets did not perform like she’s used to. It wasn’t about spending the money. Like she said, she has expensive basic pallets(referring to her Surrat quads I assume), that perform well which is why she deems them worthy of a luxury price tag. Yes, her eye looks were great, she’s very talented.

No one does this quality of tutorials on CZcams. She zoomed in on her eyes and you really see how the eyeshadow applies and step by step instructions. I miss her so much. ❤
I appreciate your honest opinion! I saw the Rose Prism and thought ohhhh I want that. I only own one Tom Ford palette and I am bummed I didn’t discover him earlier in life. I have lots of others lol. Thank you 🙏 again for honesty! 🥰

I am so upset about the denim palette. The shades are so beautiful and unique. Even when you showed the similarities in other palettes nothing was exact. Can you please go through your collection and try to find a dupe for it? Especially for the second shade on the top row? It looks beautiful under your lash line

It looks like luxury brands destroy their products? Chanel powder gone, blushes tanked by "reformulation"
Tom ford original blushes were much better than present ones and new ones coming any day now BUT something tells me grab while you can previous collection formula ( which I already did)
Quads are getting worse and worse. What is going on? New releases or reformulations give me creeps
I saw this come out available at Nordstrom and immediately pulled the trigger on the Denim quad. It hasn't arrived yet but based on your review I'm probably going to send it back untested. I also realized that by rearranging my SG x Temptalia palettes that I have enough shades to be able to get a similar look. Thank you for saving me $88!!!
I’ve seen others with less skill use these and love them. I think you did a beautiful job, but I agree with your opinion ( and I’m not at your skill level.). The colors are beautiful, but after seeing the swatches and application, I changed my mind about these. Thank you for your honest review!
I bought both palettes, including the new Nordstrom exclusive, Cognac Rose, and they all creased within hours. I have other Tom Ford palettes and they do not crease. Something has definitely changed in the formulation of these. I am so disappointed. I ended up returning all three of them. Oh well, I got almost 300 dollars back, lol! I am glad to see that it wasn't just me that noticed how crappy these were. I took before pictures to show my mom how pretty my look turned out, then after about 4 hours I took pictures again to show her how badly they creased. I have never had that happen with Tom Ford shadows. They need to stop doing whatever they changed!
From your last video, I purchased the Huda Beauty NYMPH glaze highlighter. I am so happy I did! I haven't been this blown away from a highlighter in a long time. It's the texture that makes it so beautiful and the way it looks on the skin. Its SO smoothing. That product wowed me.

I purchased both and returned the rose prism for the exact reasons you stated. The blue denim I do really like but it definitely goes on patchy and harder to work with. I have issues with the blue skipping on my lid. Wet or dry. So your tutorial spot on. Thanks Mel!!

I was so intrigued about these new palettes, I am happy to picked this up because I really wanted to know how they perform. Definitely skipping them such a shame they looked amazing. You of course create amazing looks, but like you said for almost 100 I don’t is worth all the trouble to make this palettes work

That is a shame, but not surprising. His blushes went downhill quick. I heard the new wet/dry palette for Nordstrom didn't perform the same either. Glad I passed on all of these.
Thanks for the honesty. I agree with your assessment. I think that TF has been on a downward path since becoming part of a conglomerate. Artistic creativity is often fueled by the fear of failure and associated income insecurity, so since the latter is no longer a factor, I am not surprised that TF has lost his “mojo.”
Someone needs to come collect these high end makeup companies… they are losing it!! Stop trying to rip us off!

Hello gorgeous Mel! 🤗💕 I have to say, even though TF is such an alluring brand, his eyeshadows have been underwhelming to me. The only one I love and use consistantly is Nude Dip (the formula is not otherwordly.. but the shades are super wearable). However, hie cream shadows are such a hit imo - especially the cream and powder ones (Naked Bronze 😍) and Platinum in the traditional formula. THANK YOU as always for keeping it real and helping us to save some dollaaass!!! 🙏❤❤ Sending so much love your way xx

I only have two other TF palettes and I noticed a difference in the Metallic Denim. They definitely aren’t as creamy. I had the best luck using them as lid shades only and using another matte in the crease. However, they should preform as well as the others.

OMG! I just used this last night and noticed the kick up and dryness. It looked gorgeous on but it’s not as smooth as their other palettes and it was a mess using the fluffy brush in my crease. I may switch for the double indemnity.
