    I've kinda been a raw acoustic sound kind of guy. It's my favorite sound but after hearing what you got going on I need your setup! Maybe not the delay. But I play worship for my youth group and I'm the only vocal and instrument and that reverb/shimmer pedal would be awesome to have! Also I've been looking for a preamp because my sound guy says he has me up as loud as I can go and I kinda don't believe it but if I'm getting a low signal I'll want to get a preamp to boost that signal. Now I'm going to go look them up and probably by astonish at the prices but great video man and great sound!

      If you really like the shimmer you might want to try going with the electro harmonics canyon they’re only about 140 bucks that’s the most beautiful out of the box setting ever and all the other delays in modulations and it has a looper best $140 on the market

      @@KentToneworksive got all 3 between my personal board and a church board i setup. I have the di on my personal board but run the the align session inline after the tuner and before the venue then the loop for any mod/wet fx. It works just like my session di. I’d argue better when u consider the comp is first in the gain structure with the align as it should be vs last on the di. Id much rather have the loop so my signal wasn’t getting compressed after the wet effects. Unfortunately in the case of the di it has to be last to take advantage of the balanced out.

    • @s2seltaeb
      @s2seltaeb Před 6 lety

      I'm trying to figure that out, too. The Session DI seems nice, but I still think the Venue DI is better, because it has the Boost foot switch, which is nice for when you're about to solo and need a little push in the mix. The only problem is the Venue takes up more room.

    • @GreenIce101
      @GreenIce101 Před 6 lety +1

      The Venue is definitely more advanced and feature-laden. I have the Session and, while fairly simple, it really sounds great. It's got a built in high pass filter, ground/lift switch, and honestly the comp/EQ and the saturate knobs take it to another level. I think I'm definitely gonna get the Venue at some point, but the Session isn't half bad either

  • @john15333
    @john15333 Před 4 lety

    Hi Curtis! Great sound and setup. Can you PLEASE help me understand why you are taking the signal from the reverb back to the Venue before you route it to the session? Your path is Venue-delay-reverb-venue again- session. Why wouldnt you skip looping the venue and just go Venue-delay-reverb-session?
    I'm pretty new at this and just trying to figure it out for my own setup. Thanks for the help!

    • @AnimusLucida
      @AnimusLucida Před 4 lety +3

      I'm not an expert. I believe this would help to keep the volume, gain and boost settings on the main preamp section from overdriving the pedals in the effects loop. If these pedals were fuzz or distortion you are good to not use an effects loop like you mentioned. But for these reverb and delay you get better clarity of the effect by using the effects loop.

      @AnimusLucida Před 4 lety +2

      @@john15333 You're welcome! It really is NOT readily available. I figured things out from mainly reading the manuals, watching reviews on youtube, reading reviews and ultimately buying and re-selling things that I didn't end up liking or working the way I hoped they would work. I have several years working in tech support so some troubleshooting experience and a lot of time reading manuals has been helpful to me. Also, there are some fairly informative articles on sweetwater about various topics.
      Understanding effects is truly rooted in electronics. So, if you are looking to understand more about effects you have to look to the builders and DIY people NOT the players. There are some great indie pedal builders out there. (Kingsley, Coda Effects, Effectrode, Hungry Robot come to mind- but there are many) I have read a lot on amplifier forums, people who build amps themselves, people who build pedals themselves and modify existing pedal circuits. That's where you'll find more concrete information. If you're looking to players they will shrug their shoulders and tell you that they do what sounds good to them. There is some really in depth stuff out there. The basic understanding is that each effect is just a circuit, and that circuits can be modified and re-created by 3rd parties.

      @@AnimusLucida That's very informative and I really appreciate it. I even reached out LR Baggs and couldn't understand the answer they gave me.
