- very nice, can’t what to see it in person
Thanks Terry, already in the post to you 😎
Rob old son, I am so happy to see(and hear) that you are back to using the ever classic, "and do remember to lubricate the end of your piece, you don't want to snap it". When I first started watching I remember thinking, that's excellent tip and one I shall always remember it.
What a great restoration, I can remember this model very well from my childhood.
Wow, that steering top is so freaking cool! You NAILED this, amigo; well done.
looking shiny again. surely that lady has become a terrific driver. :)
interesting mechanism. they actually managed to create a steering trapeze when every other brand used slots or moving suspensions and axles for it. that was a lot of brainwork to accomplish, and to make it lasting, too. hat's off to the corgi developers!
brought back nice memories of playing with one
The presision is that of a brain surgeon.Nothing short of a minor miracle. This is epic.I say no more.
Nice result! Terry’s got to be pleased with that! I have one to refurbish. When I get the time!
This turned out so nice Rob. I keep discovering new favorites with each one of your videos I watch. This is today’s favorite!🤩
Fantastic resto Rob, Thank You for your dedication to resto's, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Never saw a car with the steering knob on top. It's pretty cool. The blue color is fantastic!
Nice restoration and paint job 👌
98.2% on the body and 100% on the chassis!
Holy cow....this is BETTER than new! Great work!
Close enough on the paint removal. Very cool little car. Never saw this casting before. Corgi has a lot of unique castings. Fantastic job. Nice color match. Stay safe. Have a great weekend coming up.
Oh mate you kicked it straight in with this one ! In my opinion it is as near perfect as anything to date. This is the way it should have looked when new. The improvement in technique is more subtle now, a finer hand with the detail brush as well as the air brush. The fellow who gets this one back should be well satisfied and proud to own it!
Great job Rob...nice to see you do a larger car..you do make it look easy..🇨🇦
Beautiful car and great work again 😎
Yeah they don't make toys like this anymore, this kind of cars are today collector items, not toys 😀
I'm an original owner of one of those, and remember learning to steer & do a 3 point turn on it!
That and my Joe's cafe both have knobs on the top!
Rob great job with your Restoration of the Corgi Austin A60 great job with the paintjob and cool wheels and tires and wheels and it cool the way it turns.
SOO KOOOOOLLLL.
You out did yourself. Very nice work.
Car is awesome.

Hi Rob,what a great model,I remember seeing these at toy fairs for sale, the resto of this one is nicely detailed.👌
Be Strong. and Stay Safe Yourself and Family. Great Job..
"Hell yea!" The Austin is a terribly cute car, and you made this one just as nice!
Interesting car for sure! I imagine the black material on the stripped casting is probably oxidation from the chemical soda you utilize. I like the plate at front and rear signifying a Learner driver. Lovely job Rob!
Hi rob and family hope you’re all safe and well great detail and love the paint work and the sliver strip can’t wait to see more videos 💙💚
it came out really good especially with the chrome details.
I know what you mean about being SO CLOSE on restoring cars: I was almost done with putting some clearcoat on a model of a school bus I was restoring, sun's going down, and an errant hair somehow floats onto the clearcoat and gets stuck in the paint. HOURS of work destroyed!
I was NOT a happy person!
Fantastic model, outstanding work!
Lots of nice detail. Job well done Rob!
Absolutely beautiful job! Great color and detail work!
Great job another touch of the masters hand 👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👀👀👀
State of art. Very very nice jobb. Regards from Norway.
Stunning build, Rob. Love the new color. Best wishes over there. Stay safe.
What a great little Corgi! Proper job, mate!
couldn t resist if i saw i it in the shop..beautiful resto..
Another very fine job Rob, looks like new.
My Dad had an Austin A 60 Cambridge , think it was a 1963 in Horizon Blue , lovely motor but a rust bucket ...Nice job ...👍🤓
Smart looking great restoration Mick Thailand
The black residue is the tin part of the mix. When you strip oxidated alluminium or lead it became exposed and reduce itself becoming istantly a black powder material who cannot solve in water.
I said it once and I will say it again great work Dr Diecast
Phenomenal job 👍! I have never seen that model. Very interesting and lovely job!
That is gorgeous. Great job.
Good job rob wuoooo amazing 👍👍👍👍
Olympic Blue is the Hycote spray paint for that one Rob ✅ Nice work mate 😉👍
Very. Nice 👍. Work. Brother. Looking. Good 😊. Lee
Great job Rob 👍👍👍👍
Very nice car, color came out well
this one came out great
Now this turned out a true beauty. Amazing job you did on this one ❤️
I‘ve got the version sold on the continent, in a slightly darker blue and LHD.
Wish i could find a British version too :)
Another fine piece of work rob. Good stuff
what cool car, i never realized the amount of different autos that were made by dinky, corgi, and matchbox! we are always looking forward to the next build!
what a beautiful build.
very nicely done
Awesome awesome job my friend
Wow. That looks good
Great looking car!
really cool resto
Well done rob
Beautiful job!!
Fantastic job mate! Looks amazing!
What a machine!
Another video I had to let play while distracted by life that the before and after is AMAZING, nice clean details.
well done Rob, Im sure Terry love it
nice job! That looks fantastic!
One of the best restorations I've seen recently. Glad you managed to clean up the wheel on the roof and keep it original. It came up well. Lovely car. Sits well on the table. Great colour, too. A vehicle very much of its time. Nice to see.
Very hard to find time to watch everything these days. I like old British character automobiles, especially Corgi classics, so had to see the outcome of this model. Think your customer will be very happy. Nice job, Rob.
awesome job
@14:05 love the new light blue color , i thought it look like taxi car
Very Nice
Great job!
Love this toy. I inherited it from my brother who also taught my how to park: it was very useful when I obtained my driving license years later 😊
Corgi also issued a second driving school model and I had it. It was a metallic blue VW Beetle with golden steering wheel on top. But my favorite was the Austin! Excellent restoration Rob 😉
Came out nice 🙂
Looks very nice! I've never seen that casting before, it's a great toy. Excellent restoration, I'm quite sure the owner will be proud and happy with the result 👍
looks great, wot a great toy
nice job rob
God job. I like it.👏
this is pretty cool
Lovely! 98.2% is close enough. I love the decals; evidently the UK really didn't fool around with the signage on driving school cars in the '60s. :)
That black residue looks a lot like magnetite (the oxide of iron responsible for the blue-black color on blued guns), but I doubt the alloy these cars are made of has iron in it, so that's probably just a coincidence. Maybe there's an oxide of zinc that resembles it?
Seems to me that the steering gear on the Corgi Austin was about the same as the actual car, only not as well engineered. Lol. Watching them race at Goodwood is a world of fun.
Awesome!!
Use your pledge floor shine as a clear coat. Just brush it on and it will self level, just don't put it too heavy to pool up on edges. It should not react to your paints.
Excelente trabajo!!
Felicitaciones...
Saludos desde 🇬🇹🤓👍🤗
Beautiful 😍👍
Excellent job, love the details you really knocked this one out of the park. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely job! I have one here needs TLC so some inspiration but the front pillars are missing. Tamiya clearcoat is always a problem over enamel though Testors has given me no issues to date.
Caustic has a reaction with castings that have higher concentrations of aluminum. You are lucky to not lose parts to the caustic soda.
Beautiful resto', Rob. I can't imagine what came over some child to paint all over this beauty. Glad to see it restored. Also, I think the black residue you got could possibly be a zinc additive reacting with the caustic soda. Stay safe.
Very Nice 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
That is a neat little car! Gives me ideas. I want to r/c car some 1/64 cars. Laughs in evil scientist. Cheers!
Incredible resto, no problem at all when extra detailing is done tbh.
Stay safe cheers.
Wonderful job on thus restoration. Love all of your restorations and some even bring back some good memories :-) Take care and keep safe.
WOW! Fantastic job 👏. Yes I agree you don’t see that kind of toy car and the attention to detail etc on today’s toy cars. I do wonder what that car (and other car toys in the same size and detail and brands of the day) costed back in the day. I guess it probably was only affluent families that could’ve afford that type of toys. And what a modern day toy car like that with the same kind of attention to detail or probably rather a display collectible car would cost in today’s money
Awesome👍
Such a great model. A simple idea, powered by levers and imagination. You just don't get that in toys anymore these days. One of my 'Holy Grails' is to find a left-hand drive version of this model. I have the version you have there, but I know that Corgi made an LHD version for export markets. I also always wish that Corgi had made an equivalent Morris Oxford - the type so beloved in India, and known as the 'Hindustan'. I do remember Jeremy Clarkson using a real one as a runabout in India and liking it a great deal.
Your restoration, as always, is a thing of beauty. Nice one.
I don’t use costick, it tends to eat into the metal, I use stripper, it’s a pain but the casting is good, I’ve used the soda but had bad pitting and it eats the metal
Sorry. About. The. First. Time. Me. Too. More. Than. 3. Times. But. It. Came. Out. So. Sweet 😊. Brother. So. Cool 😎. Nice. Work. Lee
Excellent job matey, ive recently done one of these as well.. 👍👍🙂🙂
Quite a complex mechanism for a little casting. Turned out great
The 15mm wheels from the African Rally VW Beetle could be used if you wanted to customise
Rob I have to say buddy! This turned out beautiful as always! But I do have say how did u forget to save the audio on ur voice over?? Haha it happens to the best of us! Keep up the good work!
Don't ask mate 😂
@@MatchboxGarage haha well I’m glad u were able to do another! Again good job bud! Love seeing ya post more videos again!
Great restoration rob ive got 2 of these to restore but theve got the roof signs missing sods law you can get all the replacement part bar the roof sign cant understand why as they are always broken off
