Joost has been bullied, and look at him now. If I remember correctly, his father once told him that he should keep writing poetry. The house with the mill is the place in which he grew up (with all the shit) and possibly burning it down, taking a new step into a new world without borders in which he can do whatever he wants.

When he was younger he watched the Eurovision with his parents and said “I’m gonna sing at Eurovision one day”. Joost sings that no matter where he goes or what he eats, he can not escape the pain of this loss. In the end he says goodbye to the pain of his loss by burning the photo, without losing the memory. This song is also an ode to Europe. His dad told him that it’s a world without borders, because borders are invented by humans. And that you can create your own world. The dance break is happy hardcore - a music style that was invented in the Netherlands, also called gabber music.
