Repair shops might be able to unsolder broken or phyically damaged ports and resolder replacements but I get the feeling that Comptia might test us based on the idea that it requires a whole board replacement. Great videos.

There are some specialized people that can remove the digitizer/glass front panel of the screen stripping it away from the lcd using something like a thin wire and replacing it that way, some may argue that its 'cheaper' that way but finding a digitier alone may prove a challenge, haven't tried it yet tho kek

I think the bag of rice method is because most of us don't have silica packs in the pantry.

It really doesn't matter what's in your pantry. Rice doesn't do a very good job of pulling moisture out of the air. You're better off putting your phone in a drawer for 24 hours.

I once found a large grain of sea salt wedged in my phone's USB port. Even with the USB port dry, the salt continued to electrically bridge some of the contacts, causing my phone to cyclically reboot. I was sure it was sea salt because I'd just been on a fast boat kicking up ocean spray, and had pulled out my phone to take pictures of whales. I hadn't been anywhere else recently with grains of another substance, not even a beach since the boat docked at a wharf.

Every iPhone after the iPhone 7 has some form of water resistance. The iPhone 12 specifically has the IP68 IEC standard 60529
