If it wasn’t for older styles like Goju Ryu and Shotokan, you wouldn’t have Kyokushin. Be thankful for the ancestor styles to preceded Kyokushinkai.

Holy shit! Them liver shots!
I keep telling people...I don't care what you know, how many belts you have or what discipline you've studied. A well placed liver shot can end a fight. And get you a free all expense paid trip to the floor .....It's like someone hit the kill switch on an electric motor....It's not super painful but it zaps all your strength ..... ask Golden Boy Oscar Dela Hoya , when Bernard Hopkins hit him with a perfect shot to the liver....

Karate gives you the look of a fearless lion. I bumped into four thugs the other night while I was walking home from training. The look on my face was enough to show them that I am not easy prey, I looked straight into their eyes. In a 1vs4 situation, your chances are rather low, but I am pretty sure I could have taken at least 2 of them out and that would have quickly turned the table for them.

When I used to practice the art, we were taught to block or at least pari, those strikes coming towards us, and counter. I don't see it here, are they even allowed to block those strikes?

All that time spent training practicing blocks and incorporating them into combinations, being graded on them, only to completely forget them when sparring. I can't respect this style when they fight but don't block properly or allow strikes to the face.

No it was a serious question. I did shotokan myself for a couple years and there its not allowed. But then how come no one is checking those leg kicks? Too difficult with the side-on stance?

anybody can tell me about the difference between to types of matches/styles i see, the ones with helmet and gloves and the ones without? Thks
From 18 years fighting without protection
If you're under the age of 18 or 20 you must fight with helmet etc above that age you don't have to but you can still wear it if it makes you more comfortable and feel more safe.
In my dojo. If you're under 16 you must wear leg and hand pads plus a helmet, cup for boys, chest protector for girls. If your 16 or over you can ONLY wear cup for boys, chest protectors for girls and a mouth guard if you desire. This is only for tournaments though. In class the rules are changed for safety reasons and other factors, such as experience, and intensity of the fight. And others like if it's a practice fight just before a tournament. Fighters usually take no risk and fully pad up. Including everything I talked about and others such as knee pads.

you can if you want, or genuinely feel a need to/are quick enough to. Otherwise, Kyokushin Karatekas are very conditioned and can take punches

Then why did Kyokushin fighters defeat Muay Thai fighters in 1964?
Total bullshit. You can be a good fighter in any of the styles or you can be a bad fighter. It's your willpower, stamina, strength, technique and a bit of luck that makes you a winner and not the style itself... I train with muay thai practitioners as a karateka, yet I do not have the feeling that "anyone" of them could beat me. There are better fighters than me, but not all of them are better than me.

GSP & Bas Ruten would tell you otherwise, besides, no one with a single style background can last in MMA, even a Muay Thai or a Boxing world champion would not last if they don't know how to wrestle and ground fight, nowadays you need to know it all : stricking/takedowns/ground fighting .
Kyokushin has its weaknesses like all other styles, namely no punches to the face but that can be adjusted really quickly
