He’s truly missing out since he hasn’t watched Demon Slayer. The song and movie were absolute masterpieces going down in history.
Agree that the song and movie were great... but I’m not quite sure about the “going down in history” though. No hatred but imo, the anime and the movie were really overhyped.

That trill at the beginning where he says "what the hell is that" is a common style of Japanese warm up to loosen the tongue for the Japanese "R" sound. らりるれろ and all blended "R" sounds. The sound isn't like an American "R" but rests towards the top of your mouth kind of positioned between an "L" and "D."
It's also done in Colombia.
I know the Japanese "r" sound and I can do it perfectly fine while talking, but doing that warm up she did is impossible for me to do lol
It's basically the spanish "r" as well but when pronounced in the middle of words.
The R sound is present in pretty much every language apart from American English. Hence, why he was confused.

@@ethankim7979 Kobushi? From wiki: "Archetypal enka singers employ a style of melisma-where a single syllable of text is sung while moving between several different notes in succession-known as kobushi. Kobushi occurs when the pitch of the singer's voice fluctuates irregularly within one scale degree: This compares with vibrato, which vibrates in a regular cycle. The kobushi technique is not limited to enka, as can be heard in the Italian song "Santa Lucia.""

@@alarmed2542 How those who come before us entrust us with the future and how when we one day reach that point, we will also do the same for the future generation. It's all about preserving the future for the good of all no matter the cost.
LiSA actually quite often cry in the middle of her singing, just like that one Concert video when she sings Ichiban no takaramono the OST from Angel beats, she cried while singing.
I think some of the things you are describing might be byproducts of singing in Japanese as opposed to intentional singing techniques, e.g. Japanese people tend to speak with their mouths more closed and Japanese is not a stress accent language so every syllable is usually said with equal stress and pronounced for an equal length of time, like one beat, and it's generally not as flexible the way English is where you can hold one sound in a word for longer or put more stress on it. Maybe one of the reasons you didn't feel her emotions in the song is because she doesn't sing with stress accent and you're accustomed to people using stress accent to express emotion in English.
Oh...i see that explains how Japanese in general is vocal
I like japanese songs (especially after watching animies over the years)....although never understanding the serenity of words unless there's a legit subtitles...but its soothing to hear japanese OST songs every now & than...
Honestly japanese animies & their track themes really pack a punch...
Yes and e=mc2
Could you elaborate on some parts of this? I'm a little confused but I'd like to learn more! I speak Japanese as a second language and I DO think there's a stress accent (pitch accent); for example, the stress on 雨 is on the あ while the stress in 飴 is on the め. The location of the stress changes the word being spoken, and singers can also stress different words or parts of words in a song. Syllables are of different length, too, though all moras are only 1 beat. For example, 東京 is 2 syllables (とう and きょう) but 4 moras (と + う + きょ + う). Japanese is a much more flexible language to me with regards to what you're saying. But again, I am not a native Japanese speaker, so could you explain more about these points if you're willing? ^_^;
@TofuCheeseIsGood
Stress accent and pitch accent are two different things. Japanese has pitch accent. English has stress accent. What you're talking about with 雨 is pitch accent.
[ a ↓ me ] [ a ↑ me ]. The pitch goes up or down. It isn't about stress.
What I meant with regard to the other thing is that every kana by itself is one complete syllable which is why hiragana and katakana are called syllabaries and not alphabets and every kana by itself is one mora/beat. So they should all generally be held for an even amount of time. There are only a few exceptions. In your example of 東京 each kana is held for 1 beat as you said.
Was about to comment that, too. They do tend to speak like they're biting a pen so it's not as open as when other languages are spoken.
tbh i can just imagine homura playing at the last episode on season 2 it literally brings tears to my eyes😔😭
I’m glad LiSA was my number one in Spotify

It was such a journey following LiSA since when she was still a newcomer into the scene. I'm sure us fans that discovered her back then saw this diamond in the rough. and now man how polished she has been. She really deserved the fame she has now. the difference in vocal technique is enormous but her essence is still the same. I highly recommend searching up her old performances in the early 2010s or back when she was still in this fictional( part of an anime) band called Girls Dead Monsters.
This new to me
Ikr?? 😭😭😭👌
i see Girls Dead Monster i remember here version of Ichiban no Takaromono.. im almost crying everytime i hear it
She’s such a gem 😭😭😭
im glad someone mentioned girls dead monsters!! Angel Beats is one of my favorite anime, and a big part of why I like it is the music. the music in anime were good, but i honestly think some of the music that were only available in CD were better (shine days and rain song are some of my fav). Even back then, LiSA had such a distinct style that made the music so unique and hype. It is great to see where she is now, still retaining her style, but much more polished and skilled
I wonder how much of her singing has to do with her being Japanese though. Like, maybe some of the reason she sings the way she does is because of how the Japanese speak
Wait, what?
Not really, it’s just a different technique that’s used more so by Japanese singers compared to English singers. Not really cause she is Japanese, it’s her technique and practice that brought her to this stage.
I totally know what you mean. Particular language some tend to use more of their back of their throat, others tend to have a breathe-ness to it, ect. Japanese tend to have a high pitch especially the females. Maybe that's how they are able to do very well on high notes.
If you also listen to Japanese speakers (who has no english background) sing an english song, this technique shows prominently.
Nah, you're prolly talking about the nasal singing, many do as its the easiest way to sing withouth sounding bad but it's quite bad if you over use it thus why many Japanese singers sound ehh live. Some are natural or use some techniques to make it sound way more natural Lisa is one of them.
I love Lisa, for me she has been the Queen of anime's songs since fate stay night and I just love her voice
