You know there are a lot of girls with perfect bodies and facility, but they're not always particularly interesting. The thing that I find so appealing about Alina Somova is that there's a tiger inside of that swan. She's not content to rest on her laurels, she pushes herself and she's got a beautiful quality of humility that makes her relatable. Actually I can see why Chenchikova focused on her, because she had a lot of the same qualities. When I watch them I want them to succeed, because they demand so much of themselves and that makes for an exciting dynamic in a performer.

I like the “tiger inside the swan” expression. It fits Alina Somova really well. She is an exceptional ballerina and a beautiful woman. She is a very hard-working professional who gives from herself a 💯%. This is something that is not only observable but she said for herself that she likes to work with very hard working partners who give from themselves 100% like herself vs. less than 100% like she has experience with such partners and that makes her not very satisfied. Imagine someone jumping, swirling, sweating and using all her devotion in a rehearsal , keeping a smile on her face while the partner runs through the steps with less excitement. While she pushes herself to her limits and acts professionally like a self-propelled, highly motivated artist and opposite to her there is a partner who is not willing to give 100% during rehearsal . Also, she is very respectful of her teachers and instructors. Although Russian is my secondary language (not so used currently) I can understand the conversation between Tatyana Terekhova and Alina. Terekhova pushes her limits while polishing her performances and once in a while makes verbal expressions that are strange and not a perfect match for a Prima Ballerina, Alina takes all critiques with a smile remaining professional and humble without giving a fuss vs taking anything personally and allowing her ego to overcome her performance. Terekhova used to be an exceptional ballerina with absolutely high level of technique and Alina maintains her focus on taking the best from the best vs allowing her ego to get in the way of the serious professional work. Alina Somova possesses so many qualities besides a body for a prima ballerina. She offers more than the standard ballerina offers which works in her favor and she is smart enough to appreciate and use all her potential, tallent, skills, perseverance and humility.
