One thing Eminem has done that no other rapper has been able to do (before or after) is completely expose himself and his entire backstory and all the dark negative sh*t he's done or been through into his songs. His discography is literally his autobiography. That's something nobody else can match

A lot of rappers do exactly that, A lot of music is an autobiography. That's a wrong analogy to pin point on Eminem. He does that stuff well and his stories resonate with many backgrounds, Is what I would say to this subject. And this adds to his continued success, But he does a lot of music away from personal life too like many artists do.

Am I the only one that thought when I heard Royce talkin bout Em breaking down the technicals of lyricism it brought up that line from Games Black Slim Shady bout being in a Rolls Royce tryna be the white Da 5'9? Or whatever that shit was...all I know is Royce loyal as hell and to give props to something as a top tier lyricist is incredible 👏🏼
Love Royce Da 5'9". He has great music, and his loyalty is right up there with 50 Cent. I love 50, Joyner, and Kendrick, Sean, and J Cole (Oddly I was introduced to him through Janet Jackson).
Picking up and loving new people here and there like Tom Macdonald, and Knox Hill.
I still heavily listen to my OG people. Dre, Snoop, LL, NWA, Redman, Daddy Kane, TuPac, Heavy D, Run DMC, and of course Eminem.
I ain't gonna lie, I can't think of not 1 Big Sean song outside of Control and something he was on like Detroit vs. Everybody. He's not horrible, but I don't particularly care for his rap style or voice. I'm also 44-years-old so Big Sean isn't in my generation as well. That could have something to do with it. I prefer Em's music though.
congratulations on your latest music, it great and so much in it Knox. I think we have to have a look when people talk about culture of hip-hop because it's changed so much over the years. I personally believe because of Eminem, that's why Hip-hop us the number 1 listened type of music in the world. Anyone can feel comfortable in who they are now in hip-hop, no matter what part of the world they are from. Eminem has had alot to do with that. I'm enjoying the Eminem of today as the technical ability as just amazing to listen to and read the lyrics to his songs. He was always ahead of his time and now he is still ahead of his time. As always professor of bar's Knox hill, this was an enjoyable reaction.

Eminem hands down. Look at his career look at what he's done for the game. There will never, ever be anyone anywhere that will ever be able to take that from him. Even though Royce and Big Sean have their skill sets and are dope as shit,.. no one can take what Em. Has done and is still doing at 50!! He's the longest running, most coveted rapper in the world. Hell, He's still the Richest in the Game because of how smart he is and was. He taught the cadence and flows as well as the triples and Quad entandras because no one else was making shit ryhme and work that wasn't supposed to. I was there since the beginning of hip hop and rap. And not 1 can say they do and or did what Em has done. White or Black. And this "no one bumps Em" BS is just that. You can't go anywhere in NY let alone most of the country,.. inside and out that em isn't a household name since the 90s. 😎🤘💯. Just facts.

what made em blow is the fact he had 3 distinct personas. like most artists either put it out like it's themselves (when it usually isn't), or they have a persona and try to live that life. Em, had the wacky shit, the big hitter, and the grounded personal personas. and you could hear it in each song. Of course not every one is a hit or even that great but basically he was like 3 people in one. so he could grab 3 times the people.
if every rapper on the planet dropped an album on the same day , em will have the most sales and views on anybody that shows who does the best music
Love these conversations bro like I just dove back into BAD meets Evil, which I had not heard in A WHILE, LIKE YEARS, and man I'm so glad I did.. the 2011-2014 eminem was potentially my absolute FAVE. II was thinking as I was listening about the sound of Eminem and Royce then, and there's a slaughterhouse track on there with all 4 members and the sound of those 4 members compared to now. They were all killing it I mean they still kill it but I truly believe those 5 people slaughterhouse and Bad meets evil push each other's pen. Having opinions about music is fine, saying somebody is better than Eminem is still fine but what's not fine is disrespecting Eminem and the impact he had on rap. People just talk crazy shit about him and the only reason is color.
As for Sean or Em, I prefer Em. As for Royce vs Em, I don't think Royce could beat Em, I mean, Em is in his own lane, his abilities are unmatched.

Have you ever done a breakdown on Ludacris or Nelly? Just wondering because they were huge in their day and I still listen to luda a lot now and he is so underrated in my opinion he was a great MC. Eminem is the goat I think nobody holds a candle to him in my opinion as much as I love rap it irritates me why people can’t accept he is one of the greatest. You have to consider eminem in his heyday too not eminem at 50 it’s incomparable look at his longevity other than JZ nobody as big as Eminem has released music aslong.

in a battle if they get to do written it will be even between the two, if its freestyle, i would say eminem purely for his insane freestyle abilities, but would be a fun one to watch
Detroit is one of those places that is not defined by trends but creates them, and yes, specifically black communities from Detroit. It seems there's always that singularity of time, social and economical variables that spawns crazy artistic things. It has been true for the better part of a century. It's cyclic. Blues, jazz, soul, funk, techno, hip hop.. All these have a bunch of characteristics in common, most of which are based around social issues sadly. But it always blew my mind what black communities, especially in Detroit, have been creating, the definition of art.
Hey Knox man I personally man I think Eminem and Royce are too evenly matched as far as their skill sets to have a fair battle cause if you look at their skill sets and the way they rhyme and you look at how similar they are, if they battled they would tie I think. Thats too close of a battle. Now Big Sean on the other hand is dope but I just think that lyrically without Eminem, Big Sean wouldn’t be who he is. Now as far as the more lyrical just all the way around better rapper as far as flow and just the way they rhyme and word play and cadence and all I gotta give to Em just because Em has been rapping longer then Big Sean and what makes Em so dope is that he came up in the game battle rapping and thats how he developed his skill by battling and studying the classic MC’s before him and I personally think that next to Tupac and Biggie that Tupac, Biggie and Eminem are my top 3 greatest all around rappers of all time in that order. I don't speak for all but as for me, I love to have my mind stimulated and challenged to think deeper. Don't get me wrong, I love trap music, feel-good music and all that but I LOVE lyrics. Lil Wayne, Big Sean, J Cole, Montana, Joyner and all these emcees other than Em are AMAZING but Em pushes me to another level of thinking and writing

I understand his point. Here me out. When eminem releases a new album, I listen to it, watch reaction videos, but not a lot of songs makes it to my playlist. He is so technical, but his new songs aren't as good in terms of "music" than what he use to do. Old eminem songs are more "pop", have better hooks, better beats. He also had a different cadence while rapping, more "pop" than now.

In my early twenties. I did something similar. In a fit of rage over some guy and being objectified constantly I went to my hairdresser and said “Time to go short. You choose, but cut it off!.
I had beautiful long blonde hair but I was over it 🤣🤣🤣
It was the ugliest haircut I ever had or maybe it’s just really hard to maintain and style short hair.
Long hair? Wash it, let dry overnight. If you wash it in the morning? Well maybe dry it with rounding brush. Or dry just enough for that pony tail look stylish and not like slop fest!
Short hair? There are no workarounds for that. You can’t just wash and sleep. No matter what, it’s lots of fuss. For me at least.

Dude is disconnected just like most people that try to lessen Em in one way or another. Em has songs from 20 years ago selling/charting higher than Big Sean's current music. Not sure his that currently Sean has more familiar music than Em's.
