A while back, I bought Red Heart Soft. I'm not a fan of RH but I thought the soft would be better. The skeins were horribly splity! So I contacted Yarnspirations and sent them pics. They sent me a coupon for $35 and I don't remember if I ordered the Caron or Bernat yarn and this yarn was much better. It's a good company.

I didn't know that Yarnspirations was that type of website. For some reason I thought they were expensive. Anyway, I actually like how the mystery yarn you got looks a lot, but if it's squeaky ... I don't know, but I'm glad I found out about the website. Also, I get what you're saying about acrylic yarn, but it also depends for me on who I'm making the project for. Not everyone is going to want to handwash natural fibers!

I have bought RH and no problems
I can't afford the natural fibers or want the special wash/dry features with my furboys. I looked for a long time for a sampler afgean made up of squares. Found one on Yarninspirations and a tutorial. Was disappointed that a couple of the squares I cannot
make work even with the tutorial. I'm a well experienced crocheter of 58 yrs. Disappointed but life goes on

I do personally try to avoid first-time use plastic yarns as much as I can because they never decompose and whenever they are washed they release micro plastics. I will make an exception for yarns that are a fairly high wool content blend (e.g. Loops and Threads Luxe Merino which has 410 yards of dk 50/50 wool/acrylic for $9.99 and Michaels always has coupons!), though I do typical ly make an effort to search out recycled yarns. Lion brand has a lovely line, Re-spun is great, wool-ease recycled, and their re-tweed has 40% wool content! Joann also has Eddie Bauer cozy camp which is super soft and 100% recycled acrylic.
