Our guest season has ended for 2023, and now is the time for us to enjoy the beautiful fall months, reflect on this past year, and look to the future to our next collaborations and projects at the Chateau.
We prepare for festive Halloween celebrations, begin the long-awaited project of transforming the caretaker's cottage into an artists' studio, and wrap up the accounts, artwork, and more from our September retreat.
Join us as we settle into the colder months in France and enjoy some much-needed slower days.

Happy birthday belatedly, Carolina. I think y'all said that Julia's birthday is not long afterwards, so happy birthday (probably belatedly), Julia! Your footage of London was beautiful and could make even this Francophile want to visit. Carolina's idea to make the cottage into an art studio is a good one even if it did entail additional expenditures. Almost all construction runs over costwise and timewise; and, the older the construction, the more expenses there are. Y'all need to be able to keep your office functioning even when workshops are taking place, so hopefully having a dedicated studio space will allow for that. Hopefully the chateau restroom will be close enough, although I think y'all are kind of short of downstairs restrooms. Maruca's photo in the thumbnail is gorgeous and otherworldly. Glad to see Papa Puy Vidal in this footage because I missed him in Vivian's. I thought he was off on a cycling tour of France or something. Penelope is an amazing artist just like her mother, sister, and sister-in-law. Julia those leaves were stunning. So many colors just on one twig!

Since you all are so artistically oriented you should also do workshops on AI image generator programs like Stable Diffusion or Midjourney. Every student could bring their own laptop and have a critique of everyone's work after classes with the projector. There are so many applications this new media has to offer. It would be great for everyone here in Europe. Saludos desde España!!!

Gee, I thought every Americans favorite holiday was either Thanks Giving or Christmas? For me, Halloween is about watching the really little kids who are dressed up but don't really have a clue as to what is going on as their parents take them around to each house for goodies.
I had friends who arrived from Uruguay on Halloween night. They do not celebrate Halloween in Uruguay, so imagine what they thought when they saw crazy beings running around the streets dressed up looking like evil personified. : )

@28:22. That building's mortar looks pulverized. The stonework along the roofline will need to be re-mortared, and the walls repointed at the very least.
You should be able to remove that rotten beam as there is no second level anymore.
The stones from the wall your removing can be used to build up and reinforce the load bearing wall sections under the roof beams.
~Go back & get the red chair, look on 1st dibs & Charish, it is worth $$$$.00! Also, always save any old fencing, it has charm and old wheelbarrows, you can save them as planters in the garden. Great idea for the new area for the workshop, this would be more pleasant for you, then you do not have to move around the chateau! A more designated permanent space. Please post more often, it would increase your followers, too!

I laughed at Penelope making the chicken wire ghost. I made 4 of them about 10 years ago with a friend and we were covered in cuts and scrapes . We didn’t realize how sharp chicken wire is and we didn’t wear gloves. I still have the ghosts and they look amazing.

I've seen other chateau restorers buy radiators that were cast iron - there is a market for them
