  • Hands On With Maxon: Introduction to Redshift - Part 1: Getting Started in Redshift
Join Maxon Trainer Elly Wade as she guides you through learning Redshift inside of Cinema 4D right from the beginning. Throughout this four-part workshop Elly will be diving into a wide range of techniques from understanding node materials, to creating lights and camera effects and even jumping into some of the essential render settings for that perfect finished look.
Get comfortable in Redshift in just 4 weeks. These 2-hour sessions are designed for artists with little to no experience in Redshift and will be run inside of Cinema 4D 25. Attendees are invited to follow along with the techniques shown throughout the session, however they are also recorded and available to re-watch in your own time.

Just wasted a couple of hours thinking my new install of Redshift was not working from following this vid and looking for the Redshift tab that was mentioned right off. Maxon tech finally got back to me that the tab is gone as Redshift is more integrated in C4D now -doh!
Since this tutorial is what shows up when you search for "Redshift Intro" on the Maxon learning site I thought I'd share my experience and head off anyone else's problem with the same gotya. Good that Maxon is developing things so fast though that a vid from 4 months a go is outdated so quickly. Cheers

Elly and Chad thanks so much for this awesome intro to Redshift. I have just recently subscribed to C4D S26 and Redshift. This is the first tutorial that I have seen that explains the renderer in layman terms and in such an easy to follow along format. I look forward to watching the rest of this series and to hopefully producing some exciting renders with Redshift :)

I knew most of the things that were discussed here, but it was knowledge that I acquired from a hundred different video lectures and blogs. This was the first video that covered everything. I am super excited for the node materials lecture. Thank you guys so much. These lectures are invaluable.

Can I ask, what Mac system and GPU are you using for this please? It looks pretty snappy in the IPR. After 26 years of Mac OS I built my own PC for the purpose of both a cpu upgrade, and to utilise GPU rendering with Redshift, (which is great speed wise) but I still truly loath Windows, 2 years on!

I wish you guys would start a series of Plain OId Physical Rendering of Static Product-Type objects. In Manufacturing and Retail, buyers want to see realistic packages before issuing a purchase order. I, for one, would love to see a perfected Polybag holding stuff. (Been trying to perfect this for 5 years) Cannot seem to get the reflections on the bag material right. You know, the kind of cheap items you get at a $1.25 Store. Just asking.

  • @The_Kimballism_Channel

I know you can purchase more licenses of Redshift to make a in house renderfarm. How does it work. If you have 4 mac mini connected to your imac pro and want to use the render Queue for an animation is it the same as cpu rendering and just click on team? is there any setup involve so redshift can use the renderfarm? Thanks

Exposure is a term from photography which refers to how bright the image is. Over exposed means the film was exposed to light for too long and the whites are starting to blow out. Underexposed is too dark.

A top tip for any trainer - and I speak with 25 years training experience: No matter how much you know, you won't know everything. Every so often you'll get asked a question you don't know the answer to. This is what I say: "I honestly don't know, but I'll find out." I then find out, make sure I fully understand it, and then I update them. NEVER EVER pretend you know something that you don't.
59 minutes in. Intensity vs Exposure.
I think you need to do some work, and make an edit.
