I’ve literally never followed baseball before I saw Ohtani play. Now I’m obsessed and I want to join a local league lol. He’s just the most inspirational athlete I’ve ever seen. He can do absolutely everything, but he’s also very humble, funny, and kind. It’s almost unfair how perfect he is lol.

I've never watched baseball before, but after returning from a trip to Japan, I can't stop watching Ohtani clips (and baseball clips in general). He's EVERYWHERE there, and now I know why.
I stopped watching baseball in the 90s. Ohtani clips strangely made me start watching some games again. He's a magical unicorn.

I feel like Shohei went into this season telling his manager "Let me do it all, let me pitch, let me hit = we win". My god as a pitcher myself, I am just astonished by Ohtani... He's such a freak on the mound, nevermind on the plate. He's world world-class. We will never see anything like this again in our lifetime guys. Cherish it.

@@barbarapaparella1833 and even Babe Ruth gave up being a 2-way-player after a couple years. He also didn’t necessarily play against the best players because the negro league was separate. Not taking anything away from Babe Ruth, he was amazing! I just think what Ohtani is doing in the modern day against the best of the best is just magical!

Just the absolute epitome of performance and class. A top 10 power hitter in this league and arguably a top 3 pitcher as well. Impossible to hate a guy that puts on a show every night with a smile on his face

Where are you from? Just curious. I'll say that this type of thinking is very common in Asian countries. And having minds blown, thinking things they don't understand are miracles is a really Western way of thinking. You can easily find out how athletes train if you want to. Ask any good wrestler, you have to out-work the other people to beat them. Everyone is good, you have to be able to force your will on someone else that is strong as heck AND outlast them in endurance, too. That applies to any other sport, too. Jerry Rice is a good example. He was known for running sprints in the mountains to outlast everyone.

Ohtani is the best player in our modern era, since 2021 he's in the Top 5 in OPS, War and 2nd to Judge in HRs of 70, a couple of years ago he was third in HRs just two by KCs Salvador Perez, and as a pitcher last year he had similar numbers in Wins Ks and ERA as the NL Cy Young winner Sandy Alcontra, Shohei also led the league in Ks per nine innings,

It's crazy to think about players like Nolan Ryan.. a legendary icon of pitching, and then think about "what if" he was also a home run slugger, and crazy fast and powerful.

You mean roids Bonds. I know this guys hit bombs but Ohtani can do that as well. His pitching is what makes him unbelievable combined with his hitting.
@@connorclarke1218 Even if Bonds and Mays did drugs, they wouldn't be able to do the same thing as Ohtani. And, given Ohtani's human nature, he wouldn't want to rely on drugs to accomplish the same thing they did, though. He understands that it is an insult to baseball.
@@tornoles24 bonds without roids was just as good if you look at his overall production. He stole much more bases and was a gold glove outfielder before steroids. His hitting from 01-07' was far better than any player can achieve. Shohei is the most complete player by total value if you combine pitching, but Bonds was a much bigger threat. And yes, with steroids or not. He was a better player than this k pop star( yes I know he's Japanese baby please😙)

People are still comparing Shohei Ohtani to Babe Ruth, but Babe Ruth never did what Shohei Ohtani is currently doing. Yes, Babe Ruth was an outstanding pitcher and quite possibly the best home run hitter of all time, but he never did both at an elite level simultaneously. What Shohei Ohtani is doing has never been done before, and may never be replicated.

We're watching history in the making, folks! If Shohei continues his amazing trajectory, he will absolutely be the best baseball player ever to play the game...and that's not even arguable from either an eye test or if you look at his stats. I'm glad that most baseball fans recognize this although I've encountered some haters in person that dismiss him as a flash in the pan. Not a huge sample size and it's a personal anecdote but it wasn't a surprise that most of these haters have very close minded and misguided views about non-white ethnic groups 🤷♂️
