That weight difference showssss, the B58 is a monster and turned into a beast when tuned. Glad that electric was ICED.
I had the chance to ride in a modified 340i and it was insane. The guy did 11.7s on the quarter mile with me onboard, lol. Both cars are great and thx for the race!
On a serious note, it would be interesting to see this 340i go up against some other cars

The M340i came out for the G20 generation. The 340i is an F series. Same engine, subtle differences I’m sure.

@@SamCarLegion it does since m340i has bigger fuel pumps and turbos and therefore males more power in stage 1 or stage 2 comparatively.
Also the refreshed b58 has better cooling to sustain higher powers with ease.

The 3 series in this video is not an M340i, it's an F30 generation and is simply known as the 340i (no M). It replaced the 335i at the LCI in 2015.
An actual stock M340i (G20 generation) vs an i4 M50 would be a good race.
There is actually M performance options for the 2018 340i too.

@@josevince2424 the 340i with the B58 engine replaced the 335i and N55 engine during the 2015 LCI. But it wasn't called an M340i, nor was the predecessor called the M335i.

The B58 continues to out performs, all thanks to the supra for the crazy aftermarket support, I had no ides the 340i xdrive only weighs 3820 pounds...that's pretty light for an awd
The real crazy part to me is the 540i rwd weighs the same as the 340i xdrive. Bmw is making some very weight optimized platforms

I test drove a m40 today that thing is honestly a beast.
Also - not a M340i. F30 came with a 340i badge. Not a M340i. A stock G20 M340i and stage 2 340i F30 are pretty similar in power.
A stage 2 340i would leave m340i in the dust u don’t know what ur saying.
a stage 2 340i makes over 420 wheel hp, no stock m340i is making that...it's the same b58
M340i has the updated b58 with more cooling jackets. It also gets a better fuel pump and slightly bigger turbo. A stage 2 m340i would make more power.

Not entirely true but yes BMW electric car no upgrades to power but other makers such as Tesla or Polestar they have optional power upgrades via software.
340i is different than an m340i. m340i has the updated b58 w/ more cooling jackets. Minor but still different.

You made a mistake in 2018 BMW did not make the M340 , it’s the 340. M340 come out in 2020. The 340 was made from 2016 to 2018 which has the first generation b58.

Both tuned and modified, yes, but the gaps may not be as gappy at BMW fans would hope. I do think the modified B58 takes it nonetheless. Lighter and the engine is a bit more stout than the VR30.
He will gap me, it’s upgraded turbo. I have raced him off camera and he got me pretty good off a roll

@@shameerhussain5380 Yes it’s the better option. More reliable, and the ZF8 transmission is better than the JATCO 7 speed. The B58 is also more refined as it is an inline 6 versus a V6 configuration. I also had to spend a lot of money to get my car to where it is at the moment but you don’t need much to make a B58 quick. Another thing is that swapping a upgraded turbo into a B58 is much easier whereas for the VR30 you need to drop the motor. All in all, I’ve had a VR30 for over 5 years and it’s been great. Hurt alot of feelings but I’d choose a B58 if I had to start all over again, it’s like it was purpose built for racing. Also if you plan on staying stock turbo, the VR30 makes more power. That would be the only advantage.
@@shameerhussain5380 Also I have raced and beat many B58s but none of them have been purpose built for the straight line like mine. If the same amount of time, effort and resources were put into a B58, it would come out on top every single time.
How about a 2022 BMW M5 CS vs the Tuned BMW M340i?
To clarify, this is a 340i, not the new M340i, which means this is 1st gen B58, not 2nd gen found in the G2x cars. The i4 M50 should leave it for dead from a dig, but that obviously did not happen here, which means the 340i is putting down some serious power.

Nice contest Sam. I’ve drive the M340i a few times and just recently drive the i4 M50. Both are beasts of two very different natures. Honestly, I found the i4 to be much faster than a stock M340i. (No question that the B58 can be taken to obscene levels of performance.)

The stock M340 is +/- as fast as the i4. They are +/- even in all disciplines. The i4 just feels faster due to instant torque.
