  • In this video, I'm going a little bit more in-depth by reviewing multiple games where a D5/P1 EUW player practiced in 1v1s against former Academy top laner Max Waldo.

    This format is perfect. I know more goes into making them, but a video or two on each position would be absolutely invaluable. Thanks so much for putting the time and effort into these vids.

    These videos have a bigger effect on the community than you think. Players will noticeably be better in soloq thanks to LS.

      @beiggo21 Před 6 lety +10

      That's actually wrong. His viewer base is not big enough to have any real impact on the level of soloq. It might help individuals but not the masses.

    • @beiggo21
      @beiggo21 Před 6 lety +1

      It's much closer to chess than an action game. There are macro decisions every game and mechanics are just the execution part. The strategic value you speak of is more important than he mechanics and has way more emphasis. I mean, if you claim that the strategic value is close to zero then you obviously know nothing about the game. A game that is ever changing has less strategic value than a game like chess that never changes? Now that is ignorance if i have ever seen it. And a card game is more based on luck than any form of strategy. Even kids know that.
      I guarantee you that most people watching this video are low elo players and they will stay low elo after watching it. There is a difference between watching a video and finding something out, and actually applying the new knowledge into one's own gameplay. I mean, these low elo players don't have the skill to even apply this knowledge in this video. They do not have good enough mechnics and their damage foresight and knowledge about matchups and ranges are not good enough. This means they can't apply it now and they will forget about it or they won't even try to apply it. You saw how hard it was for this D5 player to learn it. Now imagine some silver or gold player trying.

    • @IDontReadReplies42069
      @IDontReadReplies42069 Před 5 lety +1

      Well, not really. in order to actually practice this properly you have to spam 1v1's if you don't have a 1v1 friend then you're shit out of luck, you have to play full games which laning only happens for 12 minutes. That means if you are a loser and don't have a life, then you get to play maybe 9 games a day? So that's 9 laning phase practices that you got to do in a span of 9 hours. Good luck getting good, and if you claim you're climbing because of the video without a 1v1 partner then post your op.gg.

    • @nTactic
      @nTactic Před 5 lety +1

      Doesnt have to be 9 games a day, split it into 5 games a day, 5 times a week, thats 25 1v1's a week. 100 a month. Not that bad, you dont have to be a no life to get bette at the game.

    He probably didn't make more videos like this on different matchups or lanes because all of the fundamental basics of the game you need are here. It would be redundant to make the same points over and over with different champions/lanes. What LS wants to convey to his audience are the possibilities that can be produced from those fundamental understandings, and from there, one day how to execute in real-time with dynamically changing variables will have to be figured out on your own. Practice makes perfect! All LS really does in this video is provide the perspective of high elo thinking during lane, and this doesnt even scratch the surface of the mountain of knowledge needed to be the cream of the crop.

I never consciously acknowledged it and tried to improv on it though. More of these sessions for diffrent matchups would be appreciated. Although i know the basic gist of it doesn't change some matchups change the dynamic of it alot. Can be unedited footage like this aswell.

      @vaprin2019 Před 6 lety +6

      I'm pretty sure "joust" is a champions ability to make favorable trades. I still have no idea what tethering is.

    • @Elodere
      @Elodere Před 6 lety +22

      Vaprin Jousting is in fact how fast you can deal the enemy's current healthbar. The one who can do that FIRST determines the outcome of an all in.

    • @Elodere
      @Elodere Před 6 lety +34

      Also, tethering is the act of holding a specific range between you and the opponent by walking back when the enemy walks forward and vice versa

    • @devrigado4917
      @devrigado4917 Před 6 lety +6

      Tethering term does not exist in league, it's invented from the actual word.
      quote: "tie (an animal) with a rope or chain so as to restrict its movement."
      Same thing as zoning, but you control enemy's movement, i suppose.

    • @elrumstoke
      @elrumstoke Před 6 lety +23

      Tethering is the act to remain at a certain range from the enemy champion. This range varies, based on the range of your and your enemies' AA's, Skills, etc.
      Picture Karma's W, for instance. Your main goal is to not break the tether, the chain that holds both champions together; but you also don't want to remain too close, getting free damage. So, if the enemy retreats, you advance. If he proceeds to engage, you take a step back.
      Now, the thing is that Karma's W is a VISIBLE tether, but every matchup has its own.
      By always remaning in the closest proximity to your enemy, whilst not taking any risks, your speed reaction increases, because when you take the opportunity to all in, your champion doesn't need to cover unnecessary distances (thus losing time and windows), because you're already at optimal distance.

    The problem is people see this, but can't perform. Seeing this and actually being able to do it are two different things. Speaking from NA Soloq in masters, most players know this but can't perform so this can take you pretty far. approaching melee vs. range, you can early thin the wave and then slow push the minions, but in some match ups, its better to hard shove first 2 waves and have third wave bounce back. You can't do this exact thing for every lane, dynamics matter. Spell Range/Wave Clear/Damage output are all things to consider. Each match up is different and if you can perform this and refine mid game, easy challenger. At least in NA..

    I have a question, would you still do this against an early game jg like j4 or xin? if they gank while you are zoning so far up you will most likely have to blow a sum. in that situation would you want to pull the wave, freeze right before tower hits the minions and then start zoning like this?

    • @elwynjohn7444
      @elwynjohn7444 Před 6 lety

      Lvl 2 ganks can be problematic but easily evaded by dropping a ward and then staying closer to the warded river. You can setup wave to bounce back to you so that it is shoving into you when the ward is dying. This way you can stay closer to turret and still be safe when your ward is dead

    Could someone explain why his taught to hit 2 melees and 1caster before trading?

    • @elwynjohn7444
      @elwynjohn7444 Před 6 lety +5

      Roy Koper he hits the 2 melee so that they don't die all at once. This makes it possible to CS them.
      He hits the ranged minion to weaken the opposing wave even more which helps shove the wave which helps him get lvl 2 first and gives him lane priority.
      Lightly shoving like this also gives you the ability to choose when you want to get the wave under the tower. Sometimes you can deny him Cs or eat into his mana by shoving the wave under tower when your minions are at awkward hp values.
      Ranged minions deal high damage so even if you kill one of them, that will make you take less damage when trading.
      Sometimes you don't want to kill the ranged minion if this results in your minions being killed without the enemy being in exp range due to zoning

    • @selueen3028
      @selueen3028 Před 6 lety +2

      Keeping certain distance to your opponent, so if he moves to you, you move away, and if he moves away, you chase him, but never cross imaginary line. Imagine using karma w or leblanc e.
      If you move too far away, tether breaks.
      Why do you want to do that?
      Distance depends on the opponent, you want to make sure that if they step to close to you, you can attack them, but you don't want them to be able to attack you first.
      That kinda thing.

I had actually made a smurf to play stronger early game champs with lane interactivity in hopes to learn something about actually taking a lead in lane and pushing it further rather than just forfeiting lane and roaming/playing through midgame. Just dont autoattack, poke with abilities. Autoing enemies makes minions focus you most abilities dont.

    good guide. but i think your enemy should have waited and not using abilities to cs, but soak the exp only.
    It's not worth spending mana and abilities rather than trading, because orianna gets full control of the lane.

    • @kasperjdklfajhd2692
      @kasperjdklfajhd2692 Před 6 lety +2

      no, irelia doesn't need to focus on trading with orianna because she wins lvl6+, and of course irelia and/or orianna would have backed by that time, so trading would basically be useless. it's good for her to be focusing on cs because it means at 6 she will have an even more kill pressure... you clearly have no idea about this matchup so don't even try to criticize how they play

    • @seabass1864
      @seabass1864 Před 6 lety

      It's a good suggestion, but if that's the case, orianna would theoretically win due to a cs lead. The More CS you have the earlier you can get your core items which can lead to a powerspike.
      Also, I don't know if this is right so correct me, do you gain a little bit more exp if you kill the minion? Idk

    • @kasperjdklfajhd2692

    • @siufong8672
      @siufong8672 Před 6 lety

      what do you mean by not to cs and just soak xp and wait for lvl3 for an all in...? if the orianna is good enough to keep the tether nicely the irelia is just immensely behind. this is a play which relies on the opponents to make mistakes which is not the ideal way to play the game.

      5 minutes of the video was " you know what I mean?" If you've watched any ls coaches diamond+ laner, you teach them about the same thing, maybe to a different degree of detail or level and everybody's response is also the same. Idk why this orianna thinks you don't understand how he feels.

    • @yorth8154
      @yorth8154 Před 6 lety +2

      he just literally said "I never thought of that" and even then, there are many things which can be dismissed as "I already know" that you actually don't know, and the role of a good coach is to show them to you so that you don't get scammzed.

      @DoggyP00 Před 6 lety

      omar el amrani dude, can you even read? yes, he did say that. In fact, he said that for 5 full minutes of the video. wtf are you even quoting? If I didn't know better, i'd think you were trying to prove my point, because that's exactly what you're doing.

    oh hell yes, I am totally completely felt the same as this D5/P1 player/student, I never thought the existence of this hitting minion concept and had never thought of it that such of thing could exist, this is my first time realizing the consequence of hitting minions the way LS instructed, that made the wave morph into a certain state which makes LS gained an absolute dominating laning advantage, it's insane.
