@@varsancton he said "I ain't going nowhere" not "I ain't going nowhere unless I have to"
No way it's *YOU* again. Aren't you from another comment section argument? Well, to put it simply, not everything goes as planned. He really didn't have a choice, and John thought that it was all over, when really it wasn't.
I've never felt more sad in a game than seeing John get killed
@@AHZIDAL_1 Your crazy then I remember playing rdr1 on my ps3 when I was 8 in my office chair and watching John get shot I sat there and cried for like ten minutes 😂
@@areyad.09 cap. He had so much character development. Arthur's was bad but John's was even more sad as he just accepted fate and died for practically no reason

"Don't worry. I ain't going nowhere."
Still have a scar in my heart.
I think the worst part about John’s death is him mentally preparing in the barn. You can just feel every thought in his head before he walks out to face the noise. He knew his days of running were over.
@Connor__RK800 it's not about being a coward, it's about giving his family a peaceful life.
@Connor__RK800 it's not that, if he ran away he would just be Dutch 2.0. Abigail wouldn't be able to live like that and neither would Jack, he made the best decision possible.
@Connor__RK800I think the reason is because he already knew he cannot just run away anymore, even if he escaped with his family, the pinkertons will still find them one way or another, also putting his family at risk of more danger this time, and he didn't want his family to live a fearful life hiding away like that either.
and he died hoping Jack would keep running and not look back. Jack did though.
At least Jack knows though. In the final cutscene where he takes revenge on agent Ross, he says "you sent him to do your dirty work, then you shot him like a dog". He understands that John didn't have a choice, and that everything he did was to protect his family
Nah, John made his choices too, he was forced to hunt dutch, not to kill f* Micah
@@fable_enthusiast Killing Micah made it *_easier_* to find John. It never made it *_the reason._*
*HE WAS BUYING LAND WITH THE SAME FAKE NAME THAT THEY ALREADY KNEW HE USED BEFORE ("JIM MILTON") THAT ALONE COULD'VE SCREWED HIM AND REALLY SHOULD'VE.*
@@fable_enthusiast killing Micah came years before hunting dutch
Just say you don't like John and leave it at that.
He didn't get a fair chance at all dude. There's a npc in the game who's named Emmet Granger, he made a deal with the feds and got his own ranch to live in even after all the murders he committed.
So if you're telling us John chose his way you can stfu. His ending was unfair
@@AsapMilk no John is a blatant idiot, don't you remember he got a loan with HIS REAL name??? Ofc the Pinkertons killed him
It hurts me to know that Arthur gave everything for John and his family. And Jack had to follow the same path as his father.
@@AsapMilk no, it was redeemed because jack had the choice and as the story’s written at least, he only has to shoot Ross and alls redeemed from there because there’s no way anyone could trace him being shot on a hunting trip in Mexico back to jack. Beautiful if you really think about it.
But at least jack was able to live a peaceful life with a new family later on
I think he became an author later on, cause there’s a book in Franklin’s house in gtav
Arthurs death was the saddest to me because Red dead Redemption 2 was the first video game I truely loved. And Arthur loved almost everybody in the gang and would do anything for them. I wanna thank Rockstar games giving me a game I will never forget. Thank you

John’s death hit the hardest. Everyone knew Arthur was gonna die or be arrested since he was never in the first game, but John was completely outta no where.
Arthur was such a deep, misunderstood character. Probably the best character rockstar has ever created. John wasn’t entirely complex but he did everything he could for his family. Both different, both great
John was the better character lmao you probably just never played the original 😂
@@StrItsSelf I wasn’t saying one was better or worse than the other fam. Just that they’re different. Arthur was much more complex than John, that’s just fact.
@@pup123434 yeah I feel that with the first RDR the whole game is kind of tailored towards the western gunslinger fantasy, all the outfits, challenges, music, characters all had the western movie feel, John was basically the lone wolf gunslinger for the most part becoming a legendary name, but RDR2 felt like it tried to be a more real setting, not the western movie fantasy (not saying it's bad) Arthur's character had the advantage of being surrounded by the gang and the hundreds of interactions and sides missions you could with them to get to know them better, the way you could interact with everyone with greet/antagonize system and the numerous lines Arthur just spat out made everyone feel alive. The whole story revolved around the death of the outlaw, civilization moving in and the slow deterioration of the gang and Arthur's attempts to try to prevent that and his failure to making him realize they can't go back and he especially can't with his diagnosis so he fights with who he is to try and change, his story and the journey he goes on is just more complicated than the first one because it's a more internal struggle with himself, John's is a little more surface level with try to save his family by taking out his past, but I will say that the cutscenes he does get with the gang in the first game did have some good writing, like with Dutch "we can't fight nature" the dialogue john would with the gang members in the first one set their characters but they were very vague with how everything went down and their actual relationship and the second one just fleshed everything out so much more
For rdr3 all I want is for it to be about either how the gangs was formed ending at the Blackwater massacre or a alternate timeline where John remembers what Arthur said and leaves
Expanding off of your comment, I think a Dutch origins story would be cool even though he’s the villain and we know what happens in the end, but seeing him rise up and talk his way in and out of trouble along Hosea with younger versions of the gang would be awesome.
@@Rrr_558This is going to be a long comment but fuck it. Here's my idea. What if we start as Dutch Van Der Linde as a 15 year old boy, there are cut scenes where he sees his mother depressed and he just can't take it anymore, so now the player can move and the objective is to sneak out of home and flee never returning. Dutch leaves home at that age in the year 1870. Then we go to Hosea, his childhood and him growing up on the mountains, fast forward to a 17/18 year old Hosea attempting to steal a chicken. The player can now move and the objective is to steal a chicken, then a cut scene is of you getting caught. And so he gets caught and he's about to be hanged while the people are chanting and rioting for him to be free, then a sheriff steps in and shoots the ropes, the player can move Hosea and the objective is to flee out of the area while holding his throat and fleeing and a cut scene when they grab the sheriff and hang him instead. Sad music plays after the death of the sheriff. 1876, Dutch and Hosea are arrested, they spent hours in a jail cell, they find a way out and before they escape, they tie the sheriff up on a chair. 1877, a young 14 year old Arthur is running around causing trouble to elderly folk. One day Dutch and Hosea go up to Arthur and introduce themselves, they offer him to join them. He agrees.
I have more so i will comment tomorrow with more story progression.
This whole interaction hit me. I never knew my dads dad, because he died when my dad was little. And my kids will never know my dad because he died when I was little. Here’s hoping I can break that cycle 🤷🏼♂️
He died protecting his family. Besides from all of his killing, John Marston was a good man. Comes from Arthur, maybe.

It really hurt when uncle said “your a sick man Arthur, a very sick man” while in Rhodes. RDR had always been good at foreshadowing
