Thirty years have passed since the vicious storm that concluded the first chapter of humankind's survival story in Frostpunk. The City, settled around the Generator and its life-giving warmth, grew and progressed as the years ticked on. Years of whiteouts have changed the world, giving it a clean slate with which to write a new post-apocalyptic part of its story. Despite the noose of oppression again starting to tighten on a society that is struggling for life-preserving supplies-and increasingly bothered by inner squabbles after recent events-the world is once again facing an era of possibly prolific expansion.
Most notably, however, people changed. And once they feel like they’ve tamed the frost, and the bonding survival instinct has faded, their human nature will come into play, driven by ambition that could spiral The City into the fall.

Frostpunk’s evolution from coal to oil is cool enough. I can’t imagine having thousands instead of hundreds of people at once.
Да тысячи людей как в винтер хоме сможем ли мы спастись от революций и паники котороч может убить генератор
The city has overpass road now, probably we will have vehicle in this one. With oil as fuels.
I predict that 3rd one will be about Gas
@@histhoryk2648 nah, nuclear is the way!
I play on easy to avoid as much death as possible
I like the contrast between "the city must survive" in the first game and "The city must not fall" in 2. Makes it seem as its less about pure survival and more about overcoming a great challenge
Considering how much the city grow, the city is no longer struggling to get out of the ground, it is struggling to carry its own weight.
@@Noperare Imagine being born in The City, generations after it managed to barely scratch itself out of the abyss of death itself.
Now, it has grown, cycles after cycles, strenghtened at first by the few survivors from surrounding areas and then by the necessity for high natality rate, to replace the workers.
You are born in a city where the only thing that you understand is duty and toil. Compassion and humanity are secondary, if considered at all : you are at the end of the day, nothing more than a cog in the machine.
Will you try to dismantle the machine in a perceived righteous revolt in the vain belief that things can be improved after all of the sacrifices made to keep the city afloat?
Or will you succumb to the fatalism that the city must stand at all cost, and order must be maintained, for only the regime truly knows that survival is hanging on a thin thread?
This is Frostpunk... Two.
@@KalashVodka175 Beautifully well written. Bravo.
@@KalashVodka175 I guess, It won't go this far. Like, ok. We went through challenge of establishing first settlement. But what kind of atrocities we did? Child labour? 14h shifts? Edible additives and soups? That's time to roll this back. As I can't imagine people are holding such for long and pretending that its new normal will lead to nothing else than new Winterhome. Add to this epidemies, as compact group of people using same air and places to keep heat is almost ideal condition for such and there will be need in carantines and medical research facilities what should be a challenge for frostpunk like communities. A lot of challenge. And add that there are different settlements around and now its not just a one settlement. On top of that, maybe easily available coal deposits are run out. There are a freaking lot of challenges for cities way closer than next generation.
These people need capitalism. Through incentives the best and brightest ideas will rise to the top and everyone will benefit.
Those cuts of the city developing faster and growing larger make me think we’ll have the chance to rule over multiple generations in a single game. That would be amazing, to have the children gradually all become workers or engineers. We could have a college or trade school, and decide who gets admitted, making the class divide stronger.
Basically a caste system lol
With the new game being the main char's child starting to take the reins.

I want to see Frostpunk to be a movie, or series. The world is missing out about the beautiful story of this game.
if HBO where to make it or maybe AMC id be ok with that
Oh yes, please let HBO make this into a gritty series. There is lots to build great character arcs around, with endless moral dilemmas and different factions. I want to follow the story of a coal miner, who rises up against a brutal, fascist regime and eventually takes control. Only for that miner to turn into another authoritarian later. Imagine the expeditions, the automatons and different side stories that you could throw in there.
With a "Last Autumn" Prequel
I would say that the main interest of the game actually comes from the gameplay and the experience it captures. There are probably god stories to be told in this universe, but I don't think there a single way to adapt a game like Frostpunk in a non-interactive medium
@@baptistelasbats3952 and the moral dilemma that turns you into a monster 😆
The original Frostpunk is one of my favorite games, despite not being a fan of city builders. It just had a certain charm to it, and with the actual real moral decisions the game carried, every choice was felt. I haven't played a game like it since, and I sincerely hope Frostpunk 2 is able to match the weight that the original carried.
I think its because there are actual stakes in this "city builder". Most city builders even if you fail horribly and your city turns to shit you can almost always bring it back from "death" and usually pretty easily.
FP brings a delicate balance and a challenge that no other City builder brings to the table, there's a "strategic depth" in that every choice has both benefits and consequence. Typically city builders only ever bring boons with newer bigger tech.
Yeah basically exactly what kyle S said, its a city builder with purpose and stakes. Cause I am the same, not super into 'just a city builder' But city builder with existential consequences, sign me up
Always tried to stop short of full blown fascism or theocratic rule. I would take propaganda and hope in prayer but not to the point of executing dissenters.
You should try This War of Mine
@@ultimatedesbear4271 This War of Mine is pretty good, it has the same great atmosphere that FrostPunk has(the same group made it I think). It's fairly simple but quite enjoyable.
Man, I wish there were more games like Frostpunk. The gameplay is far less stress-inducing that an RTS like Starcraft where you have to be stupid quick to get ahead, but with real stakes that makes you emotionally invested. I absolutely can't wait until part 2.
RTS is a different genre of City Building but, yeah, the competitive scene ruined RTS, especially StarCraft.
starcraft is worse kind of rts you could enjoy . try game like dawn of war 2 or company of heroes or men of war or world in conflict or sins of a solar empire there is soo many better examples than that arcade game . i mean check the incoming falling frontier , starcraft look like something from stone age in comparison
My friend, I don't know about you, but I almost went bald trying to do a perfect run of The last autum DLC!
the best game of entire world..
Millions of indie games that do the "Town survival" theme thing, farm strategy games, most of them are all RTS, Frostpunk is not any unique in this genre but it is extremely unique in its environment and atmosphere, reminded me hugely of Iron Grip : The Oppression, mod for Half Life 2 also a steampunk game set in a post-apocalyptic frozen hellscape.
The last scene is haunting… That desperate cry for ORDER when all hell breaks loose.
Reminds me of the fiery but mostly peaceful protests in 2020.

Life imitates art
I love the contrast between Frostpunk 1's "The city must survive" to Frostpunk 2's "The city must not fall". The first one emphasizes that the main threat to the city is the environment that it has found itself in. while the second one suggests a much more significant threat, one that is already eating away at the city that isn't exclusive to its environment.
Word can not exprese the love that I have for this game. I was always a fan for post apocalyptic and strategy games. And when I discover Frostpunk, it was like a dream come true. I can't wait to play Frostpunk 2. You guys are the best.

Just realized every beat drop symbolize a law or a set of laws being passed. Which shapes the social order around this grim civilization.
Hopefully they would make the law passing and maintaining order a larger part of the game. Since those moral decisions are definitely my FAVORITE PART of Frostpunk!!!
To me it seems like it will be far more about managing your people and order than the previous game. The trailer teases about the vain ambition of powerful men, and the common folk knocking on the door, and consequently opening the door to hell. It seems to me that its an analogous example of modern day oil industry and capitalism.
I couldn't help but imagine the shout each time, "A New Law Has Been Signed!" Then the last one being "A New Order Has Been Passed!"
@xShredsx If so, It'd be a very poor understanding of capitalism and a stretch to reach the oil industry. Capitalism requires limited government intervention and competition to work. The city, though big, is too small, and resources are too few for capitalism. The state will most likely have a monopoly on resources. That includes oil.
@@supremecaffeine2633 well if you cannot see the multiple metaphors of capitalism in the trailer, that mean i cant do anything for you :( seems like the propaganda center worked greatly on you :l
@@paulrk11good47 This is a centrally planned government from the top to the body. An environment that is nearly impossible for Capitalism to form outside of black markets. This is closer to fascism than anything even remotely capitalist. It's too authoritarian to even be considered corporatist.
I love how the main musical theme of the original game is evoked here without even quoting the melody, just holding the dissonance of a major seventh interval. Such beautiful tension!
The scale of the city at 0:27 is just 😍😍😍
ikr? And the view as the highway bridges are being built at 0:34? So cool.
The generator is fuckin huge I didn't think you could upgrade it anymore, oh how wrong was I.
@@AlleluiaElizabeth :DD i can see people hopping on their ''vehicles'' and on their way to work extract oil :D
The generator was just as big as it could get before the storm hit. After they survived the storm they could tinker around and get it even bigger.
Level 1 looks like somewhere in fp1, when its still not upgraded and there are some familiar buildings, level 2 is probably final of fp1 or maybe later when you can see scaffolding, so the generator is probably upgraded or repaired after the storm, level 3 is what we will have in fp2 maybe right at the start or later.

Let them take as much time as they need, the more time put into the game the better it will be. Cant wait to play it tho.
You know a game is good when the transition of falling temperatures and the survival of days of the harshest cold make you tense up, hoping, praying that people are able to push through.
You know a game is great when the sound of temperature rising, the hiss of steam and the screen temporarily becoming covered in moisture causes your body to release tension and pressure.

Frostpunk was the tensest gaming experience I have ever had. Every choice I made was filled with anxiety as I tried to keep the peace, *and* keep everyone alive. Judging from the trailer it seems that instead of building a city from scratch we are instead taking over a city already built with steam and upgrading it to the next level with oil and have to manage the chaos, riots etc. that ensue from that, or at least that's what i'm getting from it.

I love the fact that the narration given sounds like it comes from some kind of antagonist like an anarchist or a political opponent, but honestly, part of me wants it to be the case that this speech is coming from a close confidant of the player/main character. Because everything said is frighteningly prescient and generally, in my opinion, it would be far more powerful for the player/main character to have been given this warning by a close friend early on, but either deliberately or due to unforeseen consequences, the player/main character brings about the conditions necessary for chaos to erupt in the exact way your friend warned you would happen at the very start.
