They just dropped a batch in s45vn yesterday and I snagged one with gorgeous maple burl wood handles I'm super stoked to add it to my collection of barkies
Thanks Joe! Glad to see someone point out that there are tasks in the woods for a knife OTHER than "Batonning, Feathersticking and Ferro Rod Sparking." That does look like a Keeper!
Couldn't put my finger on what I liked about how that knife looks... And then ya said it. It was the hidden tang. You don't see that much. Looks great. Sweet knife, can't believe how light that is.
Great looking knife, and I know Bark River produces high quality knives. The convex grind is so easy to maintain by simply stropping occasionally (in my experience) and is no doubt the strongest grind. The sheath is top quality as well. It is worth the money, as it will serve you for years and years. I am so glad you are using BR knives, as I enjoy your videos very much, and you do not embellish. Thanks
That looks like a knife I may like will keep checking it out. I have just got a Bravo 2 Bark River knife and it is all and more than I had in mind for a knife. I was worried it wasn't that good, man was I wrong. So I really like the looks of that Matterhorn and will not wait 6-8 months before I pull the trigger. Thanks for the review.
I haven't used the Bravo 2 but I bet they would be perfect companions. Bravo 2 for beast mode and this for the fine work. One of these days I want to lay hands on a Bravo 3! Thanks Rick!
Yep , starting to get a bit tired of the way youtube has categorised knifes. Had Bowie knives for many years , then someone told it wasn't very good for a lot of tasks . Now I carry blades for chopping , slicing, filleting, bushcraft etc. Better go and buy a bigger backpack, Ha. Or I could just buy a Matterhorn , go out in the bush for a week and know the knife could do what I needed it to . But , I suppose the problem really is , Where're all knife addicts and must have more . Enjoyed the vid, cheers.
I've been wanting a Bark River knife, but my eye is set on a Guardian 3 right now. Great looking knife though. New to your channel, and recently subbed. Thanks for the great videos. Cheers!
Love me a new barkie review! Always wanted to get the Matterhorn in my hands. Ended up with the Canoe instead... partially because of your video ;) Wouldn't be surprised if it happens again! Cheers buddy! -Jimbo
As much as I love the Canoe's fuller for aesthetics and lightness, I do feel like I'm putting more effort in when wiping it down / cleaning. Just that little extra step to get the nooks and crannies. For a blade so beautiful, its probably worth it :p
That's a beautiful thing Joe! I'm curious about the steel, because like you, food prep is one of the main tasks for which I use my knives. That's why I am always looking for stainless blades at or under 5" long.
A2 handles food prep in my experience just fine. It'll pick up a bit of a patina but doesn't corrode nearly as easily as O1 or 1095 in my experience. Thanks Charles!
Feral Woodcraft That's helpful to know, beause I've had my experiences with 1095. I was able to clean it up without too much difficulty, but it's not forgiving. Thanks!
You can do either. If you want to get rid of it, check this out: czcams.com/video/GI_0sWkr3Us/video.html If you want to finish it out, just use a vinegar bath or mustard as normal. THanks!
Well Joe....as you stated it's an excellent Chef's knife. So....why is this worth 200 dollars of my hard earned money when I can spend soooooooo much less on so many knives, and accomplish the same tasks??? ;)
Beautiful design. It has a nice old school look to it
It really does, doesn't it? Thanks!

hahaha! It's easy to default to the norm but that would have been a disservice to this blade. Thanks Leslie!
joe, you are knocking out videos like crazy! great work! the blade is a bit out of my usual style but it definitely looks great!
I am trying to find that elusive thing known as "being caught up" lol Thanks James!

Aesthetically, that hidden tang makes this knife. It is just classy. Thanks Alexander!
Good video Joe
Thanks Jeff, I appreciate the support man!

I've been wanting a Bark River knife, but my eye is set on a Guardian 3 right now. Great looking knife though. New to your channel, and recently subbed. Thanks for the great videos. Cheers!
Never enough barkies lol! Out of all the ones I've seen, there has only been one that didn't catch my eye. Thanks for watching and for the support!

Thanks Jimbo! I honestly couldn't tell you which I prefer. I do know I really like them both though lol

Joe......what other hunting specific knives do you like ? maybe a video ?........ PAPA DUKES
Not a lot really. Maybe one of these days as we get closer to hunting season again. Thanks John!
i like the design of it. its definitely a sexy blade but out of my price range.
Thanks for watching Tac!
have not seen that design before, but that handle looks comfortable as hek.
It is amazing for a small handle. Locks in well and is extremely comfy. Thanks!
my bark river with a2 has a bad patina, what can i use to cover or re-force? mustard or vinegard wich is better?
You can do either. If you want to get rid of it, check this out: czcams.com/video/GI_0sWkr3Us/video.html

It seems like a bigger Trailmate II
hi I wanted to ask if you can do a review on the mini aurora
Yep, it's coming pretty soon actually. Thanks Luis!

How about we talk about your recipe?
