The 2024 Sofa Summit spotlighted women in the tea industry. Hosted on May 21 by THAC President Shabnam Weber, this live-streamed event featured conversations with women tea professionals from around the world. The discussions centered on the challenges, successes, and future growth of the tea industry, emphasizing the pivotal role women play in its development.

ABOUT INTERNATIONAL TEA DAY:
On December 19, 2019, the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 74/241, declaring May 21st ‘INTERNATIONAL TEA DAY‘. We aim to elevate tea and celebrate it around the globe. The resolution acknowledges the “… urgent need to raise public awareness of the importance of tea for rural development and sustainable livelihoods and to improve the tea value chain to contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”
