Legend is right, On those long shots of him leaving an area he had to double back and pick up the camera, all for a cool looking shot, while starving and exhausted.
Why didn't he mention the bigfoot encounter when he was making his bed he said Joe roagn show that he heard a loud noise in the Bush then heard what sounded like a great ape
you are the reason that everytime I go out kayaking I always bring like half a case of water, jerky/sausage, a lighter and a portable battery for my phone.
I keep a box of granolas, a case of water and a throwaway phone or two in a break in through case in mine. Along with some tools and small fishing tackle. Just cause of him. Legend. I used to watch him instead of the cartoons and be so excited every time I saw survivorman. he was more like the forest daddy we didn’t have 😂😂
My first time watching this episode, my wife and I had just experienced a miscarriage, and I was in a terrible state of mind. The “as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted by the multitude of jumping salmon on either side of my kayak” line made me absolutely cry laughing. And that was my first time laughing in a few weeks. Thank you for that Les.

Thanks for sharing this, my friend. Funny enough, I actually secured a job in Alaska that I'll be starting next month. Back in January it was a done deal that I'd be getting the job but I was still working my old gig. One day I was overcome with a deep feeling that it was finally time to quit after five years of being with them. Right then and there, while on a job site, I told the crew I was leaving and drove away. About a minute after driving out I saw a bald eagle flying directly over my car. There's probably no greater feeling than knowing that you taught someone something through watching this show that saved their life in a survival situation
He’s done a few cool episodes too where he explores areas that are hotbeds for people disappearing and having unexplainable experiences. It’s super neat, I forget the name though but I watched a few on CZcams so they are here. He bases his search off Missing-411 in one of them and that’s a book series by an ex cop who gathers all the disappearances and the police reports and eyewitness stories and it’s super interesting. There are 3-4 forest areas in the USA some that are absolutely filled with missing people with crazy stories. Sorry for the rant haha
Half eaten shoe of previous traveler, "Not a good omen". Pretty casual. Plus, putting a fire INSIDE a driftwood structure. First thing I thought of when you did that and "sure enough".
I love how in each episode, Les always brings along some random survival tool like the fire piston, and shows us how to use it/ how it works! Thank you for your incredible expertise, Les!
I grew up watching this show and I’m rewatching it now for the calm nature and nostalgia! It’s so calm I use to watch it every night to fall asleep because of his calming voice/nature!
At my last job (ranger) we had to camp out in tents during the winter. We'd survive the night by putting boiling water into plastic bottles and then putting them into our sleeping bags. It was efficient because in the morning you had safe, drinking water to enjoy! (Or you could reheat the water for the next night). We also had stones that we'd heat up as well. It's important to not use a gas heater in tents because of the confined space you can become poisoned. Oh, also if you have a tent, don't put it under a tree with dead upper limbs as those are called 'widow makers' by rangers. Because they can fall off with only a slight breeze and crush you while you sleep (making your spouse a widow). Always best to camp out in a small clearing. And if you HAVE TO camp under trees (dense forest), make sure the tree above you is as healthy as possible with no dead limbs ideally.
@@dogwater290 eh its safe to do a couple times. the water in the bottle protects the plastic from melting and releasing PFA's. possible cancer down the road beats death by dehydration currently

My favorite part of this show is always the building of a shelter and also watching the whole “how will he make a fire this time”. I appreciate that he tries to come up with different ways of doing both. That way it doesn’t get boring AND you learn multiple possible ways of getting these important things done.
You got me into the outdoors as a kid. Everything from the filming, music and reality of your show. If it wasn’t for you I probably wouldn’t be backpacking, kayaking camping or anything else. Thanks Les, you’re the man.

The absolute goat of bushcraft, surviving in the wild survivor man. I’ve watched all these episodes at least 30 times a piece. Every episode is great. Salute to u Les
Les Stroud is THE survivalist. Bear Grylls may have the knowledge, the grit and the bravery (bravery to some, stupidity to others), but at the end of the shoot he'd go to a hotel and eat three course meals. Plus Bear had camera crews and producers on board behind the scenes. But Les, he was ALONE! Les operated the cameras and directed it himself. He's very knowledgeable, he is so freaking smart, he is just pure skill, while Bear was just a show off, trying to be a showman. Les Stroud is just awesome! I think I watched every Survivorman episode growing up. I learned so much from Les and still recall things from his show that I could use in different scenarios. Many tried making survival shows, but none were like Les Stroud, the Survivorman!
Les Stroud is legend. He is one of very few people I look up to. He is just so knowledgeable about fauna, flora, medicines, cultures, history, landscapes, and so much more. The guy is so smart. I remember when he has a thing where he would teach people survival things in his class, I really wanted to do that. I love this guy so much. Thank you for posting the best survival show that ever was and ever will be.
The thing about Bear Grylls, he doesn’t film to survive like Les. He films to educate us, he guarantee he would do just fine without a camera crew but he said in a BBC interview years ago he makes his shows to teach us techniques and show how to do apply them.
I'm 35, when I first started watching these i didn't appreciate the context of how beautiful the whole experience truly is. I re-watch every episode and soak in everything about the show. Thank you Les!
Absolutely love this show and mad respect Les. I watched all these as a kid and at one point after reading "My side of the mountain" I wanted to run off to live in the woods, and your show did not help me with that desire hahaha. Anyways I love the part when you said Alaska is so large that it could fit the 21 smallest states inside it. See as a kid I knew it was big but because of the maps I'd seen I didn't quite understand it till a few years later when my friend told me Alaska was bigger then Texas and I showed him the map and told him maybe sure doesn't look bigger. And he showed me this geography book he had and showed me a realistic interpretation of the world map, blew my young mind, I must have been like 10-11yo. I need to go there someday, I remember going to the coast in Oregon and Washington and it was strange seeing the rainforest there, like the ice cold ocean would literally give you a brain freeze like when you eat too much ice cream to fast, but then you'd see rain come in and the rain would feel warm on your skin and clouds of mist would roll down the mountainside to the sea. Spectacular. That was almost 15 years ago and I remember ever part of it all the sensations I felt.
you would think that in a place as remote as this, finding trash would be harder than finding gold. but it's near heartbreaking that he was able to find some @17:19....incredible
It's not that surprising. He's on the coast around Seward, AK. Off shore from a major shipping lane. Also lots of cruise ships and boat tours in the area.
Yeah, Tom, my story too. Life isn't all peachy keen after you move out of your parents house into the real world. Life's harder than most people realize, if things don't go your way.
Les Stroud is soo knowledgeable when it comes to extreme survival. I love the fire piston, I always carry one along with a lighter, along with gear that will keep me alive if I end up in a bad situation. I love the wilderness here in AK so very much! The weather here goes from clear sunny, to white out, windy and cold ASAP! There are warnings mother nature gives before she unleashes her wrath. People who approach any wilderness with "ITS NEVER GONNA HAPPEN TO ME" attitude you never hear from again.
Man, maybe it's past the prime time to do it, but I would LOVE to see Les do a survival thing like thing where he is a bit better equipped, and doesn't have to spend half his time filming everything. It's perfect survival, but I would love to see a series where Les thrives out there. Kind of like on that show 'Alone', let him take 10 items and see how he demolishes it.
its just insane to me. The few second shot at 5:02 he had to set everything up, get out, paddle a bit, turn around to retrieve everything and then start paddling again. So much work
Were you able to spot them... BTW in this episode is where Les was screamed at from the wood line with crashing trees...he talks about it later in his bigfoot episodes & other instances when filming his shows out in the wilderness.
Man oh man. Did I absorbed your series thru and thru when they were first performed. You made me to practise my survival skills back in the years. Thank you for these.

I never leave home without four things a multi-tool, a fixed blade knife, a leather belt and a fire starter. You never know when you might need them! I have been watching your show since i was in high school and many of the things i have used i learned from watching you. Thanks Les!
Seward Alaska is beautiful! I'm moving back up there in a month. Thank you Les for all the skills and lessons you have given, I can't wait to try this out. You are the man!
Gorgeous scenes! Very lonely 6 days. Was that plantain you passed up for the tender leafy lettuce-like plant? Setting up a ground cover would have been my first move to avoid a chill at night. But 9f course shelter was very important too. I am surprised with all that net a sein net capture of those salmon wouldn't have paid off! Thank you for your sharing this experience with your sacrifice to show how truely hard it is out there!
And I get to enjoy this episode after years! I remember watching this right after Grills, and laughing about how much better he survived up here than that fake.
Bears show Litteraly says its dramatized and its for showing bow to survive not an actual show about surviving lol guess most people cant read too well
21:50 thank goodness for that water jug that magically appeared out of the bushes in the middle of the night while you wake to almost being on fire!
You were playing in my back yard 😂😂😂 Southeast is full of Beautiful adventures. Don’t get complacent and layer up you’ll be fine.
The torture that Les subjected himself to for the sake of the video is admirable.
I 🖤 Alaska. I’ve mushed dogs in -30 & hiked solo through grizzly territory. Its beauty is like no other.
you would think that in a place as remote as this, finding trash would be harder than finding gold. but it's near heartbreaking that he was able to find some @17:19....incredible
It's not that surprising. He's on the coast around Seward, AK. Off shore from a major shipping lane. Also lots of cruise ships and boat tours in the area.
Les has said many times, he has been to most remote beaches/places in the world, and has never been to one without trash littering the beaches.
No food, No Friends, No beer- sounds like me
Yeah, Tom, my story too. Life isn't all peachy keen after you move out of your parents house into the real world. Life's harder than most people realize, if things don't go your way.
Pathetic, both of you😂😂
Rude
I can go with those 2 minus the beer😂
Les Stroud is soo knowledgeable when it comes to extreme survival.
I love the fire piston, I always carry one along with a lighter, along with gear that will keep me alive if I end up in a bad situation.
I love the wilderness here in AK so very much!
The weather here goes from clear sunny, to white out, windy and cold ASAP!
There are warnings mother nature gives before she unleashes her wrath.
People who approach any wilderness with "ITS NEVER GONNA HAPPEN TO ME" attitude you never hear from again.
Ole les sacrificed that bottle to help carry store and boil water just to attempt to show us how to maybe FLINT nap with glass 😆🤣
I've been watching you from the beginning and it's amazing to be able to rewatch all these old episodes and pick up on stuff that I missed
Yep, when I watched these on cable back when they were on I was 18-20 so watching now I get a lot more from them it’s pretty neat.
Sound like a great idea!
Tom R Hell, sign him up for Alone
He'd break the record without breaking a sweat
I always wanted to see him stay at the drop off point and wait for his crew to pick him up
its just insane to me. The few second shot at 5:02 he had to set everything up, get out, paddle a bit, turn around to retrieve everything and then start paddling again. So much work
The amount of times I’ve watched survivor man, this man feels like family
BIGFOOT!!! You were being watched in several spots.... love this 1 Les :)
Were you able to spot them...
BTW in this episode is where Les was screamed at from the wood line with crashing trees...he talks about it later in his bigfoot episodes & other instances when filming his shows out in the wilderness.
Where is Bigfoot?
Man oh man. Did I absorbed your series thru and thru when they were first performed. You made me to practise my survival skills back in the years. Thank you for these.
I feel this even back when I was a young buck in the woods with my friends building shelter acting like we been there for weeks!😂😭
Les; you da man!! I always can calm my soul by watching your content. Still waiting on you to call and have me over for 4 day old rotting fish. lol. Be well, friend I've never met.
Making a fire without gas, needs at least a hour of prep before even trying to light it, Les taught me that and my own trials have confirmed this
I can do it in 5 mins. No prep needed
Awesome all the episodes have been uploaded to CZcams!👍👍 Missed watching the real OG went in comes to actual survival skills. Not the phony Bear Grills bs.
Beautiful scenery, I bet Russia regrets selling Alaska to the US.
Not to mention the oil wealth that's present there.
Oh you becha they do
Especially after the cold war
Ya think? Hahah probs woulda been a much colder war if they had.
40:09 has the best timing of a fish jumping in the background as he's saying how unlucky he's been trying to catch fish lol
Urine.
After all these many years of watching... I just noticed at 45:19 that there's a "hair" person on the production team? Made me smile. From Tokyo
Been watching him work for over 20 years. I have learned and taught so much from this man!
Brave man cooking that fish where you sleep. Great vids Les. Keep it up!
Born and raised Alaskan. I LOVE seward. It’s a must go location for residents and tourists. Peaceful and beautiful. It has claimed many people.
🗣I spent a lot of nights out in the bush in Alaska and it was the screams in the middle of the night that made me Clutch my rifle💯
Bald eagles watching youtube: "Look that's my cousin Marvin!"
My absolute FAVORITE episode!!!!
"I'm not gonna film it, I'm just gonna get in the kayak and go" *underwater shot of kayak* 😂
Sir is a true legend. I would really love to see him do just one more. Somewhere awesome or breathtaking or anything. Just please give us favor fans ONE MORE VIDEO PLEASE ✊👍🙏
On Everest no oxygen
Robert ... Well, he died while filming something like what you were suggesting. Thanks, Mr. Nicola ... really thank you ...
@@PoeLemic if you're suggesting les Stroud is dead delete your comment and go lay down in traffic
39:30 - 40:18 min. The salmon playing games with les. Like cant catch me..catch me if you can...
Jumping out the water like a dolphin.
Salmon -1
Les- 0
LOL at Les thinking that any self respecting salmon would take that "bait" on that "hook" and then he'd somehow pull it in. Lmao a pipe dream at best.
It's nice to see all of these episodes again. Its been a long time
I never leave home without four things a multi-tool, a fixed blade knife, a leather belt and a fire starter. You never know when you might need them! I have been watching your show since i was in high school and many of the things i have used i learned from watching you. Thanks Les!
“Sit here and let the tide come in…….” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 dying over here
The man. The myth. The Legend
The GOAT
Seward Alaska is beautiful! I'm moving back up there in a month. Thank you Les for all the skills and lessons you have given, I can't wait to try this out. You are the man!
I waited for each week's episode like they were "Live" & I was going to miss something! It was a magical time!
Man,! There are so many ways to make a fire, I have never imagined that in the past people had problems with making fire.
Remember watching this as a kid
Youre still a kid so bugger off
Man these episodes bring me way back.....high school days even. I know what im doing for the rest of the day.
Used to watch these on tv when I was ten. Man this brings back good times
Your an absolute legend I've learned so much by watching your videos! Thank you
Yooooo thanks for uploading these. I loved this show as a kid. Still do.
I use to watch this show all the time! So happy to see the seasons uploaded on CZcams! This show is awesome!
Thank you for your sharing this experience with your sacrifice to show how truely hard it is out there!
new drinking game. Every time Les says "that's for sure", bottoms up!
Timeless and still relevant. Original youtuber concept way before CZcams and without the merits.
When all day you said you wish you had a water container...🤣 nice job Lester! Alaska is breathtaking! I’ve been to Petersburg southeast AL. Also rainforest. Trip of a lifetime!
