- We may call it niche, but the Inazuma Eleven series is massive - six main games, two cancelled ones, multiple spin-off games, EIGHT anime seasons and three (four?) movies! That's enough to put it in the Top 20 best-selling Japanese RPG series ever, right behind Fire Emblem and ahead of Xenoblade... so there must be some interesting details hidden beneath the surface, right?
Today, I (TaleOfTheToaster) will present the "Inazuma Eleven Iceberg", to take a look at the storied history of Inazuma Eleven to present some of the most unknown details about the games, TV show and more. Plenty of these will be fun trivia points, but some of them will touch on the low points of the series' history too. Completely loved this video, it's been such a long time since I've last seen Inazuma Eleven popping up around me, and this truly brings back amazing memories and the need of rewatching the whole series. I really can't express my gratitude for this video and I will definitely be trying to get more involved with this lovely community.
I was really hoping to reach new people with this, but to entirely reinvest someone into Inazuma Eleven is a real achievement, so glad you enjoyed :)
I never knew there was an iceberg for Inazuma Eleven, wow. If there's anything that I would add, its the fact that Axel Blaze has used Heat Tackle in every iteration he has ever been in EXCEPT the anime, which I just find baffling to be honest. But wow I never knew there was still a community even after Great Road, the only form of Inazuma Eleven content we are probably going to get in a while, has been delayed to oblivion. Its just incredible how this series that I thought was pretty obscure still has an actual growing community.
(Also, regarding the Galaxy dub, one was made here in the Philippines and I was shocked since it never got an English one)
Haha, well as of three days ago, there wasn’t an iceberg for Inazuma! Apart from one half-jokey one on Reddit that made no sense, I suppose. Did Axel use Heat Tackle in the manga then? I know it’s not part of his moveset in the third game and it might even be gone for the second, but thankfully the move manual was always easy enough to obtain. To know that there was a Filipino dub of GO Galaxy is really impressive!

The fans who english patched Galaxy are the real heroes of the series
You forgot the fact that when Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U were announced there was an official japanese poll for fighters and somehow Kirino Ranmaru from Inazuma Eleven GO scored higher than characters like fox who were part of the series since the beginning.
The Gus memes actually started from a japanese popularity poll! After the release of IE 3, Level 5 did a popularity poll, but users of 2chan thought it would be funny if they rigged it and voted for an ugly character, getting him the win! After that, Level 5 embraced the trolls, probably because trolls still help promote the series. Funnily enough, the same group of people were the ones that got the win for the airplane in the other popularity poll (since Gus was not a choice)

Inazuma Eleven in France was a really popular show 10 years ago, every fan of football watched it, even teenagers. My cousin, my brother and myself loved it even tho we were between 12 - 15 years old. To be fair, I'm still a huge fan and I still hope this series will one day return !

Galaxy also aired localized and dubbed in Italy, not just the manga, Ares has also been dubbed and I think Orion is in the works since Portugal is the only dub in the world by this point

I was obsessed with the series as a kid , played the first 3 games and watched the anime however i haven't really put much thought into watching beyond the mamorou trilogy . Watched a few episodes of go and it was alright but haven't had much incentive to continue it

To add to the Hyper Evolved children ancestor entry on the iceberg and you bringing up Zetoh possibly being a descendant of Axel; I would like suggest that Yurkeh/Yokka of Gahl is a descendant of Paolo Bianchi because 1. of Odins Sword and Cool Up! being shared skills that they have (and Olympus Harmony if you want to count Strikers version of Paolo) and because 2. both of them are regarded as "Meteors" of their teams or the Hyper Evolved children as a whole.
That same team also has a player called Yui/Yuuchi who’s a forward with white hair and yellow eyes and has both the Ice Fighting Spirit ( forgot it’s name ) and has both Land of Ice and Legendary Wolf

I like the ending of Orion, the ending music along with the cutscenes were so good, shame we couldn't have seen who got knocked out of the tournament etc, and who won between Backwater and Raimon
For me, it feels too anticlactic, finale against teams are usually 3+ eps long and they were kicked down in... 1 ep?
@@ZeroAoAnimations unfortunately im pretty sure they initially planned for orion to be far longer, but i guess due to a lack of interest in japanese audiences, they were cancelled or something so they had to rush the series - one of the biggest examples is how the french match was cancelled for a reason that didnt really serve any purpose to the story (oH nO poIsONeD bAGuETteS)
@@ZoruaCraftedSwagster my problem is how dumb the series went thru dirty play, it used to be forceful but using the soccerball so it was thematic, now in ares/orion the keep using stuff like watch gadgets and shoe mirrors instead of stuff like hissatsus, so you have villains that are toiling with watches 24/7 during the entire match and its... Boring tbh

@@ZoruaCraftedSwagster As an Inazuma Eleven (anime) fan, I've never felt so disappointed. There are lots of things that bothered me about Orion. The evil/corrupt organization plot is just too predictable when we literally just had one in Ares, add *that* up with the dreadful pacing, and it's just impossible to handle well. The overall writing is just boring, repetitive, ham-fisted, and is just an insult to what this series stood for since 2008. Some of the previous characters we've seen have little to no character development whatsoever, especially Endou, who's kinda just pulling out different Hissatsu techniques and blocking most of the shots like an overpowered Gary Sue. Speaking of "pulling out different Hissatsu techniques", that's kinda what Ares and Orion were all about. Look, I know Inazuma Eleven is known for pulling out awesome Hissatsus, but Orion barely shows them *actually* doing training with those moves to the point where they just feel like they are literally being pulled out of thin air. And when it comes to the characters, they kinda just started senselessly adding more of them when they were on the world stage, making it harder to keep track of character growth. Irina, in the end, just wanted children to use children to rule the world. Also, for some reason, this season *REALLY* loves politics as well. Hikaru Ichihoshi's backstory is blatantly ripped off Fubuki's backstory, except Fubuki did it better. Instead, Hikaru is just a major plot device along with the enemy teams with little-to-no development whatsoever. Kidou also did almost nothing for most of the season because of Ichihoshi's actions just so he could just send additional members for Inazuma Japan and only showed up for the final battle. And this season tried focusing on Asuto trying to find his father too. In fact, Asuto Inamori is the WORST protagonist for any Inazuma Eleven series; he's like Tenma Matsukaze from the GO series, minus *anything* that made his character special. Sure, Tenma did a bunch of stupid stuff in the GO series, but at least he had some character development to make up for his shortcomings. Asuto doesn't have any of that. He gets 0 character development and can just overall feel insufferable to watch. There's also *barely* any time for the characters to just bond with each other all because of the dreadful pacing I mentioned. And then there's the ending...BOY that was rushed to hell; was the author of the show even reading the script?! They didn't even finish the FFI for God's sake! In the credits, they show a picture of Inazuma Japan holding a trophy implying that they won, but how exactly?! Don't get me wrong, there were some good moments in this season, but those good moments couldn't save this season from being so mediocre. If only they had just stopped after Inazuma Eleven GO: Galaxy... The fans deserved way better than this. It's like they took everything that was wrong with Ares and then just cranked it up to 11. Special Techniques are real superpowers. It's confirmed in a number of scenes. The kids only choose to use them for soccer. Biggest theory of all (Which also provides solid motive for the main villain of Inazuma Eleven 3, and explains Chrono Stone's SSC). Where was that? Or how about how the Crossover Movie is Canon in Little Battler's eXperience? What about Kanon's canonicity? Or the way that Chrono Stone Soft Time Travel Works? Or that you can score on Royal in the first match of IE1?

There’s definite discrepancies about the superpowers, like one of the final episodes of a season in the original trilogy basically asked “what are hissstsus anyway”, but theories still make great iceberg entries. Plenty more stuff presenting itself in the comments, love it!
I don't know about the anime, but didn't the main long hair guy from Zeus straight up use Heaven's Time outside the pitch in one of the games?
I needed this video so much, having played inazuma since I was a kid, I’ve definitely seen many of these things pass by through the years that just make you love the story and the franchise so much more!

Ironically enough, one of the only things I wasn't aware of was near the start. I didn't know one of the my favorite CZcamsrs, Johneawesome, was a part of an official Inazuma Eleven promotional stream. So that was hype.
He was openly brand new to Inazuma at the time and was only associated with Level-5 through Yo-Kai Watch, but hopefully he watched a bit more Ares after recording the video!
i know a lot of the overseas fanbase really likes the english names, and both the overseas dub and the japanese dub have their own fair share of similar puns, but i feel like there’s just something lost and/or inconsistent by having the english names.
for example, nishiki’s name is the same in the overseas dub, which doesn’t really make sense since all the rest have english names. likewise, shindou’s name is riccardo di rigo which is italian, and likewise shinsuke’s name is jean-pierre which is french. especially since you have them speaking, in parts, their “native language”. it’s particularly jarring in chrono stones when you have shinsuke interacting with ACTUAL french people like jean d’arc.
another thing is that there are a few puns that are left out such as with endou mamoru (mark evans). mamoru, if i’m not mistaken, is the japanese word for shield, or protector, or something of the sort, which isn’t really seen in the overseas dub. you’d think the main character’s naming convention would be maintained, but at the very least the given name and surname maintain the same phonetic beginning (endou with evans and mamoru with mark).
TLDR the overseas names are inconsistent and i don’t rlly like that, but everyone is entitled to their own preference.

The Inazuma Eleven Galaxy had an official Italian dubbing and it was distributed on sky on demand, it included all the serie with just a little mix up on the episode order at the end of the season. Also there is like a Nike ad or something like that that featured a lot of football player and among them there is axel blaze

I'm so happy that you mentioned here the Unknown Teams from the FF Brackets!! It is one of those obscure IE topics I'm so interested about.
I also disgree with the theory of the team Alps NOT being Alpine, and another point that proves that is the Japanese names used for both teams. Alpine has Hakuren/白恋 (White love), while Alps has the literal words for... Alps (アルプス). I personally believe that this school could have a motif similar to Farm/Senbayama, mainly because of the existence of the "Japanese Alps", conformed by the mountains of Hida, Kiso, and Akaishi. (Hell, they are also referred the same way in Japanese...)
...I apologize for the rambling, but I just thought this would be something interesting to add.
Anyways, what a long yet amaing video! Truly worth the watch 👌 Although let me add, and speaking about Farm again, I think their mysterious absent GO team could have made a nice small addition on the Iceberg, alongside the other mysterious absent semifinals team, Caribbean ;v;

Interesting to have more information on Alps and Alpine, you confused me at the start by saying you "disagree that it's NOT Alpine", double negative but I think you're telling me that they are separate. I never considered that they'd be anything other than a different snowy team ten minutes down the road from Alpine, but who knows!
What's the story about Farm and Caribbean, where do we learn about those?
@@TaleOfTheToaster Oops! I apologize for my redaction, then. But yeah, I was trying to say they were separate! (Although, this team being also just a snowy team just sounds funny-)
Btw, about these teams... Sadly it's very hard to learn about them due to their obscure status and the little info present in wikis (Caribbean doesn't even have a page in the English wiki, but in the Spanish one), so i'll just write what I know here:
• Caribbean appears at the start of episode 20, in which Zeus beats them and wounds the entire team. We can see their team kit and some of their players, too (Although since they were designed as BG characters, their designs don't really stand out compared to the average IE design). I don't think they have any videogame cameo sadly. The English wiki briefly mentions that Caribbean could be a team named Mangrove in the dub, even tho the team that Zeus beats doesn't get named in the dialogue. Overall, it's a bit confusing, but I love trying to research about it anyway. Btw, there could be a connection between this team and the pirate team from GO, but idk. Their japanese names are very different (As this team's name is made by Kanjis whose reading literally is 'Caribbean')
• About GO's Farm, they appear at episode 40, with the same fate as Caribbean. They show just the GK, also with a BG character-like design. Upon this cameo, they don't appear anywhere else, tho in the game the team does kinda appear in a cutscene, but with the player's faces covered. I'm still sad that this team never got any info, and it doesn't help that the original Farm players cannot be even scouted in GO :(
Either way, that's all I know! Even of these teams being unknown, I still wanna try to often think how they would be like... (I just wished they had a videogame appearance like some other minor yet lucky teams got, at least...)

Nagumo Haruya and Suzuno Fuusuke are consistent fan favorites and somehow, they have not been receiving a lot of spotlight in further adaptions. A shame.
what I find sad is that with a minor name change and a bit of research (or someone not being rude about their copyrights), we could be playing galaxy in english without needing a patch for it.

American viewer here! I really liked the first game when I was younger and I was sad to find out the rest of this fun series was relegated to Europe and Japan only! This video definitely made me want to look into it more. I’m also glad to know I’m not the only one who found the occult school REALLY hard in the first game!!!

I love to say, Thank you back in in the mid 2010s I started to fall back from Inazuma Eleven until 2017 where I saw bits of your let’s play of Team Ogre Attacks, I wanted to follow along and managed to get back into Inazuma Eleven in time for Ares. It reminded me of being a kid and watch season one and 2 with my younger brothers (who have sadly fallen out of Inazuma Eleven.) I wished we got a official English version of Go Galaxy and a game for the new generation of Inazuma Eleven. Also learned something about Danganronpa today as well so that’s grand.
Edit: also I just learned that actual weather can have genders because Hurricane Zeta is female

I don't know if this is well known but there is a fan manga (inazuma eleven go anthology) about Inazuma eleven go from several Japanese artists and create some slice of life chapters and it has several chapters in it.

That was a great video!! I hadn't heard of some of the more obscure ones, I was especially surprised to learn about the Jude game-breaking glitch.
Three details I wanted to add:
- The hairdresser's design is actually based on the genies in Snack World, down to their looks and mannerisms! It's another, more subtle crossover to add to the list.
- The Orion Fan Polls weren't announced in an Inazuma Walker, but during the Inazuma Eleven Fes 2018, when Orion and the original Inazuma Japan roster were revealed. There was no recording of the event, but the fact that several fans attending it reported the same thing, and that the March 2019 Walker (where Aphrodite and Aiden were revealed) reconfirmed that 5 more characters were coming should be enough to qualify it as a fact and not just a rumour. That being said, the image showing Jordan, Bunny and Samford's votes was fan-made and may not represent the actual number of votes or ranking.
- The Go Galaxy trademark dispute... was a complicated beast. It's worth pointing out that MSC Technologies did not simply trademark the word "Galaxy", but its application to computers specifically. Level-5, on the other hand, registered the "Inazuma Eleven Go Galaxy" trademark for every possible field imaginable, *including computers*, and that's where the dispute came from. MSC simply wanted Level-5 to remove the "computers" mention from the list, but they inexplicably refused to do so.
The application process was then paused for several years by Level-5, who claimed they were "about to conclude an agreement", except nothing came out of it, they keep extending the pause promising an agreement to no avail. It's only when the EUIPO refused to extend it any further, the procedure having reached the limit, that Level-5 and MSC's lawyers actually sat down and figured out the solution that should've been obvious from the start: removing the "computers" mention. It was solved in a matter of days, the only reason it took so long was because *Level-5 actively did nothing for three whole years*.
The funniest part though? *Inazuma Eleven Go Galaxy had already been successfully registered in Europe prior to that*. This was a *second* application, likely intended for the anime since the first one only applied to fields related to video games. Technically, the trademark for the video game had already been registered for years and this whole ordeal might not have ever stopped them from releasing the game in Europe - looking at how little they actually cared about defending themselves against MSC, I'd argue they never really intended for the game to release in the first place, probably due to the franchise's declining sales.
Thanks for this Darts! Great to see you outside of the Twitter space, clearly you have a wealth of knowledge! I was confident enough in the Fan Polls to include it, just so strange that the evidence has been wiped. Even with the knowledge it was spoken in these contexts, I suppose we still can’t prove the polls weren’t just pre-decided from the outset (the same criticism the Bayonetta for Smash poll receives), I certainly think the three characters chosen were absolutely the ideal picks, much as Jordan is my favourite character.
I’m amazed how much you know about the trademark dispute. Really, it warrants an entire 20 minute video on its own, but I certainly don’t want the MSC (or Level-5) legal eagles chasing me down! I made sure to research this as much as I can and I’m pretty confident I did see “video games” under MSC’s scope of trademark rebuttal, but obviously I don’t spend much time looking at legal papers. The initial trademark completely flew past me, I’ll want to at least look into that. It definitely wouldn’t surprise me if Level-5 simply didn’t plan to release the game, although I certainly would take more comfort in blaming the legal side! At least we now have a high quality fan translation on its way in the coming weeks.
