Jack Carr is awesome but come on man, this was entertaining at best. Surprised he never mentioned a metal container. Something to boil water in, cook food, collect rainwater (by using the thermal blanket in the first aid pick to collect and drain into the container), etc. If this is about “Survival” having water should absolutely be in your top 5, if not your top 3.

@ibid.2win My point isn’t that Sootch is good and Jack Carr is bad. I was saying that some things are so basic that everyone knows them and, no matter who you go to, the options are the same (water, fire, shelter, meds, knife). Additionally, there is only so much you can learn from a CZcams video compared to actual real world experience.
And Sootch is a shill. Shooting his truck was an awesome experience for me because it showed that he doesn’t really know what he is talking about since he is average.

Asking a former SEAL what items he’d choose for a survival kit isn’t rather useful. Combat survival usually incorporates a form of escape & evasion while civilian survival is about stayin put. I read a book by former SEAL Howard Wasdin, who reviewed his survival kit & medical blowout kit. These kits were both very bare bones.

What's the context of the survival?
    Red Dawn/SHTF/Zombies
Or medium to long term wilderness survival?
    In scenario One I'd go
    1. Weapon, preferably a gun with ammo
    2. Sleep system
    3. Water purification (Probably a straw)
    4. Knife, probably a Morakniv
    5. Spray paint to label "Wolverines" on everything.
    Second scenario
    1. Axe or saw (it's a toss up for me on that)
    2. Sleep system
    3. Pot for water purification and food prep
    4. Bow and arrows
    5. Firestarter, probably a ferro rod.

The Ares Diver-1 is a good watch that keeps good time and can take a beating. The only knock is the cheap Ronda movement compared to the expense ( $695) of the watch. It does have a 10 yr Lithium battery that helps make up for the mediocre seconds registration ( ie. the seconds hand landing on the painted seconds indices on the dial) which is often the modis-operandi of the Ronda movement.

If he was to get lost or stranded in the wood I would get him 3 days may 4 tops to live. First bullets is a finite resource and good bushcraft knife can can make weapons and tool and help build a shelter. A metal canteen to make water safe would be one of the top.

@Chanel Serasinghe True - insanely time consuming though. I'm no expert but - my opinion is in survival that being able to save time and move quickly is at a premium. Boiling requires somehow acquiring a boiling container, building a fire, pre-filtering the water, then boiling the water, then letting it cool down and then deciding where/how to store the water, etc ... all while trying not to be found. I'd take 5 minutes of filtering with a 2 ounce Sawyer Mini over that any day.
It's like when people say "I have a knife, I'll just build an A-frame" and I wonder if those people have ever tried to build an A-frame with just a knife before. Takes hours, and it's tiring as fuck. And it tears up your hands. All problems that can be solved by having a black contractor bag or poncho in your pack.

You a can someone with a sharp stick. So I would pick a knife I can work with to make tools to help me. A fire steel , tarp with rope and bed roll and a canteen I can boil water in. And a survival mode idea. Now the handgun would be a good thing for wolves and other animals that may love to eat you. But if you look at the evolution of humans and the tools and weapons they used over time and the dangerous animals they had to defend themselves against with no help I really think you could pick more useful gear in a survival idea. Now look at the medical gear in the woods like in Alaska you can use it to start fires now a multitool is not that good with trees and rocks but is good for firearm repairs and cleaning. So one must think if you was dropped in Alaska for two full weeks what would you grab before you go and only thing not counted is the clothes on your back and the shoes on your feet would you pick the same junk? Look at the scouts knife it had two blades and can opener and bottle opener and a awl I had one. Now your pick would be sound for a city survival. But I would think if a city has fallen I would be get out within 72 hours before it’s stores run out. Because when that happens people act stupid.

How many of you have a 100mm crescent wrench in the same carry case / pouch ?
If not, you may be surprised how helpful it will turn out to be.

Yes. And the training to use it under stress. You have to be able to control the bleed, no matter how that happens. Auto accidents, you might either be in one, or the first to arrive after it happens. Firewood/chainsaw/axe, anything working around machinery. Things can go badly in an instant, but to ensure you or others have more of a chance to make it to qualified medical assistance, you must control the bleed. I'd carry more than one. But at the very least, one CAT-7 TQ is needed. And it does take practice. Anyone can unroll one, but it needs to be muscle memory so that your hindbrain can get it done when a thousand things are demanding your attention in a crisis. Fieldcraft Survival teaches these classes, so check out the 'training' section of their website.

I don't understand why, and if you guys could touch on that, or reference a place where it has been, I'm all ears. I'm just a retired civilian FDNY Paramedic, and was here holding his bag, while no one showed up. Very confusing.

It's like watching Epstein get taken out in a prison in front of everyone, and nobody thought, well, that could be an issue. That emboldened our oligarchs, imo. Now they slaughtered even the appearance of our representative republic, in front of everyone, and nobody did anything...
So as the gov't takes everyone out slowly using Defeat in Detail, like my NYC cops do with 30 to 1 cops to one (probable) perp, don't they get, they are done either way?
The only thing I can propose is that they don't think they have anyone worth fighting for, even themselves? If that is the case, like the germans I spoke to, (a year or so ago, when the whole german police aren't even taking calls about assaults on women if they aren't from german citizens), asking them why they weren't defending their women, and after 3 months of asking they finally told me: They don't want our help, so let them be attacked.
Is that why? Do our men feel so hated by their own women, they will not fight for anything anymore? That's the only possible inference I can think of... as a woman, can you propose an alternative? It's not about money, if you are gonna be chinese food...

@@jeffreyspinner5437 Dude, no way are we done. We literally have not even started to fight yet. The most war gamed scenario amongst the think tanks in Washington DC is what happens when the most heavily armed citizenry in human history stands up against a corrupt, illegitimate and criminal regime. The anonymous traveler to the war games put into words what we intuitively know. We can solve all of our problems by lunch time tomorrow by getting in our pick up trucks, driving to Washington DC and dragging about 500 traitors out of their panelled offices and shooting them in the face. We the People of the United States of America realize that the vast majority of our problems and concerns originate in Washington DC. The majority of Americans know the Biden presidency is a result of massive electoral fraud, Congress' approval rating is lower than Englands King George on the eve of the American Revolution and the media that the traitors are so dependent on to spread their propaganda has no credibility with the vast majority of Americans. They realize the national guard troops in Washington DC hate them as much as you and I do. It is hilarious to me that they sent the Georgia National Guard to help in Washington DC a couple of weeks ago. I know which way the guns of the Georgia National Guard will point, and the traitors inside their fence do to. Prepare yourself and your loved ones to do what you can do to preserve our Constitutional Republic when the time comes. We the People of the United States of America will prevail over the communists traitors.

Remember? Remember the 80's,...back when, of course you couldn't rely on the Left, but you could certainly rely on the Right to be firmly and uncompromisingly anti communist.
Yeah, Red Dawn. What a movie.
Back when if an invading army came openly flying the Hammer and Sickle flag, you'd know for sure the Right would stand up against those communists and not promote bs kremlin horse shit propaganda.

I am a wanna be soldier type. SO... I would choose a pistol of the 45 magnum type... kind of a rifle pistol. Nothing worse than being out ranged and in a fight, I suspect. I would skip the multitool knife, too silly for me. Snare wire. (good for many things: garrot, to warning signals, to getting food, to hanging clothes and skins, etc). A solid fighting knife, with sharpener, even though I do not know how to fight with one, yet. I am sure I could skin and cut up my food with it) with it. A fire starter for sure, non mechanical, non leakable, many , many uses before it runs out. A first aid kit with tourniquet and gauze and tape, etc. A femur stabilizer would be great in that kit too. That is 5. But enough, and it simply comes from my farm boy childhood, that included some trapping. From that, I would take from the really bad like Robin Hood. If, and when opportunity arouse. Community would be my next quest, if possible and if it was intelligent.
