    Looks like alot of people need an education in Military responsibility and duty. That guard has a duty and that sword is not only for decoration, they will defend if necessary( now they have armed police to assist). Stop treating them like a prop or something. Breaks my heart to see this.

He gets 15-20% of that back in the form of the Sovereign Grant which provides for his living and travel expenses, pays for the upkeep and daily running costs of Royal Palaces etc., and pays staff salaries. With the income tax he pays from his personal income, he adds around £400m to the British economy every year. The RF costs the taxpayers around £40m p.a. for their security. This comes out of general taxation because it's provided by the Met. Police. They are therefore self-funding.
      The King gives a significant amount of his personal income to charities and projects like wind farms and new eco-friendly towns such as Poundbury. Do you seriously think he needs or wants more money? If so, you're seriously deluded.
      By the way, Horseguards is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defence, and is free to visit. Charles doesn't get any money from it, or the museum and small gift shop.

    I’ve watched so many of theses vids, I am convinced, the bits really bother the horses , born and raised on a farm it is obvious. Plus the ignorant people who grab the reins. People think it’s all about a photo opp, and these are guards.

    The Royal Trooper told them several times get back. You would think if he told one person. The others would understand. Apparently common sense is not part. Of their brain function.     I'm an American of English ancestry. I would love to visit the UK someday! And would particularly like to see these magnificent animals. I however, unlike the disrespectful, entitled, idiots in these videos, realize that these men & horses are NOT A PHOTO OP!
    THEY ARE ON GUARD DUTY & deserve the utmost RESPECT.
    Perhaps the signs need to say more than not to 'touch the reins'. DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSE; THEY ARE WORKING.

      I am from NY, and did not have to go to GB to see a beautiful horse up close. Seen horses in Michigan
      (quarter horses & farm horses), NY (17 hand thoroughbreds) , Kentucky (Kentucky Mountain saddle horses),
      Virginia (beautiful bay and chestnut thoroughbreds); NY & Canada. (Shire & Clydesdales); Mexico (Azteca)
      The Shire & Clydesdales are some of the largest and most stunning horses I've seen. I love driving our
      into the country, for those drives have afforded me to see some beautiful horses. Don't just wait for a trip
      to London, start right where you are and make some great discoveries.

      @@HJKelley47 I'm also in NY, Orange County. Altho a senior citizen today, I spent family summer holidays "upstate" (Finger Lakes, Scenectady etc). It was a treat to rent a saddle horse for a day. Also lived in Chatham, NJ (Where Jackie Onasis had stables). My favorite horse back then was the Morgan.

    To be fair, the chains are in the wrong spot. If you don't want people under the arches, move the chain to the outside of the arch. Having them 3 feet further in than they should be just causes confusion for the tourists (who due to language barriers may not understand what they are doing wrong) and endless stress for the guards.

      The police are MOD , Ministry of Defence police their role is security , antiterrorism and public safety they are not there to " guard " the guards who are trained soldiers and perfectly capable of looking after themselves !

      I don’t understand the whole setup. The tourists’ rude and intrusive behaviors towards the horses and the guards are repeated daily. Put up a boundary chain to stop it once and for all.     The yellow / red push panic button, why not install a wireless system, integrating the button with the base of the sword, and recess the receiver into the black steel work, clean, effective, and reduces the time for assistance for His Majesty’s Guard

    I still think the horses need a different bit. There are other snaffles and even other type bits that I believe would be more comfortable than the ones they're using. Not saying any of them are comfortable for the horse.
