    I have a base M2 MBA and it is a real beast I do not really need to upgrade until the M5, M6 series.

      Absolutely! They’d have to do something significant to get me to upgrade at this point.

    In my opinion if you allready have a M1 or M2 its NOT worth to upgrade to an M3 with SAME Specs, if you do not have an Apple silicon allready i would go for an M3 today.
    Its a complete different story, if you are limited by your current specs so if you intend to go from 8Gb to 16 GB (24 GB is pointless) and/or from 256GB to 512 GB (more is prohibited by apples price policy buy an external TB-Case with an NVME SSD instead e.g. 2TB or 4 TB) and/or going from 13" to 15".
    Updating to same specs is a complete waste of money, for 90% out there the 8GB/256GB should be the way to go especially as you can find georgeous deals on them as M1 today. You can't find no new 16GB/512GB M1 New today but even in the used market they are still to find. If you assume you need 16GB and upwardsalways Consider the MBP 14" with the Pro silicon (or even Max silicon). But thats only for the 5% really limited by an MBA M1 16GB/512GB. Myself using M1 MBA 16GB/256Gb and an external 2TB Thunderbolt drive

    This video came in Clutch! I’m going to get an M1 tomorrow morning for $600 instead of the m3 for $1600. Thank you!

      @@TheSpareTechRoom so my friend told me that for content creation and editing videos that the base m1 8gb won’t be enough and that I should atleast get the M1 Pro 16gb. Thoughts?

      @@ShogunKaye I mean, more power is always going to be better, but I’ve edited 4k 10-bit video on my m1 air, and it’s worked just fine. The pro will be faster, but it just depends on how much you want to spend. I hope that helps.

    Hey man, M1 Air for $649 or M3 Air for $899? Which would you choose?

    • @TheSpareTechRoom
      @TheSpareTechRoom  Pƙed 10 dny +1

      That's a great question. I would recommend the M1, unless there's some specific feature you need that only the M3 has. Otherwise, the power difference isn't significant.

      I still love my m1 air. If you can find them for a good price, I highly recommend it. I also think it’s more comfortable to type on, because it has more of a slope where your palms rest, instead of the sharp angle of the m3.

    2300-3600 is roughly 56 percent single core improvement while 8300-11000 is roughly 32 percent multi core improvement. Yet you call the single core improvement insignificant.

    • @TheSpareTechRoom
      @TheSpareTechRoom  Pƙed 5 měsĂci

      Thank you for your comment. The single core scores are 2335 and 3065, which is a 31% increase, and multi core scores are 8311 and 11959, which is a 44% increase. So, the multicore difference is much larger. Also, what I mentioned in the video is that you’re not going to notice the single core changes, because the m1 is already blazingly fast in single core performance. You will notice a multi core difference though, in certain specific tasks.
