Would you please explain further how it become 71°

He accidentally wrote Ry/Ry but it’s clear enough that it should be Ry/Rx (opposite divided by adjacent) therefore, to get the angle, take the inverse tan of 550N/188N and you’ll get 71⁰.

why isnt there a normal force on the ninja? also why not compression force?

a girl has no name that’s a good question. I skipped a step by just putting the weight of the ninja acting on the beam. If you do a free body diagram on the ninja you should have his weight and a normal force. Then you would have a normal force on the beam. Since it equals the weight of the ninja you get to the same conclusion. But you are right. The real force acting down on the beam is a normal force.

Great tutorial! How about a horizontal beam switched to the right side, the same as the cable? Would the solution be the same?

why do you simplify “L”, you should replace it with 8 and then continue with the calculations

I would suggest getting use to taking the algebra as far as you can before substituting the numbers. In many cases you will find that a lot of things cancel out.

...so this is a class 2 lever?...I am trying to figure out what kind a lever a tree branch is. I thought it was class 3...but looking at this video maybe it is a class two. looking at this diagram, a branch is more like a suspension bridge with multiple cables holding it up, maybe?

Ninja! When calculating the toque are you not supposed to use the tension in the y axis?

  • @manishimwejeandamascen6017

Thankfully but the final answer is incorrect the correct one is 631N as the tension in the string but you have helped me too much!!!!!!
