Note: Zinus Keeps changing the model name! They called it "standard" when I bought it in December 2018; then they changed the name to "Lisa" for like 3 weeks. In January 2019 they changed the name to "Shawn." Now, March 2020, they call it "Sleep Master Platform Metal Bed Frame." :)
This video shows my review of the Zinus SmartBase Platform Bed! You can watch me assemble it and show you what it's like. This product is also known as the Zinus Lisa 14 Inch SmartBase Mattress Foundation / Platform Bed Frame / Box Spring Replacement / Quiet Noise-Free / Maximum Under-bed Storage, Queen. The specific one that I reviewed is a queen size, but it also comes in these sizes: narrow twin; twin; twin XL; full; king; California king. In this video, I also measure it and show you all of the dimensions!
Zinus added the name "Lisa" to the title in late 2018 or early 2019. It's just branding.

Best review on CZcams, thank you! Only thing missing was I was concerned if there were rough edges on the ends of the metal ends that may rip my mattress (saw that on an Amazon review), and was wondering if that was the case on this type of bed. Great review though!

dugroz just had my first night using it and my goodness this is a blessing. I haven’t slept that good in a very long time. I have the 18 inch so I have more storage space and it doesn’t matter how much I move on the bed you can’t hear ANYTHING. I will be issuing a warranty on it and mixing it with a mattress topper. Thanks again for this video. I received my frame from a seller who sent me the wrong size. They listed it as Queen when it was actually a Full. I had to refer back to this video to see how it “should” look and sure enough they sent me the small one. Annoying but this was helpful in determining the right size. Thanks again!

We purchased 6 Zinus singles mid 2019, $69.00 each inc delivery in Australia, for our off-grid lifestyle and they are brilliant, quiet, strong beds and they can store 300mm containers inc lids underneath. They fold up compact and light for easy transport. Just use a good self inflating mattress like an exped or use a foam roll up mattress underneath and another self inflating on top and in more permanent situations just put on a spring loaded or whatever mattress one uses in their bedroom/s. 10/10.

excellent- of all of your Zinus reviews which bed frame do you feel is the most sturdy and has less opportunity to brake. I have checked the reviews on Amazon and Zinus Customer Service is awful on all of their frames. Why is that? Do you recommend the wooden slats over the metal? Lastly, do you feel the 14 inches will hold up better than the 18 inches? My mattress is only 6- inches high on both the twin and the queen. Thanks Yvonne
To me if u have a matters with spring u shouldn't use it i got one and after a year the matters loses it supports....i think it works only for memory foam mattress..... Would i be able to put a box spring on it for more support or what do u think i should do to get more support on it ?
I have had two Zinus twin bed frames for three years. Recently while moving them, they came apart and I was unable to re assemble them as the screws were stripped and there are no replacement parts? I want to know how to reconnect the frames or to the land fill they will go......
Hey there I found your review off amazon. Could you tell me some pros and cons for the Zinus Lorrick vs this Zinus smartbase. I have a 10" memory foam mattress. Currently I have a metal platform base but the slats are spaced too far apart and you can feel the metal bars on your ribs and especially the middle bar. I liked the look of the Lorrick because the wood slats cover the middle bar and go straight across so I hoped you wouldn't feel it much, and the wood slats would be better on the ribs but one person reviewed they felt the wood slats sag a lot. My partner and I both are over 250 lbs. So the smart base was my next thought for the high weight capacity. Even though the bars are still spaced far apart there are small bars between the gaps so I wondered if that helps. I really hope I don't need a thicker mattress, maybe that's the problem, but I'm looking for comfort #1. Durability #2 (I wouldn't mind having to replace a wood slat or two over time) Thank you
Hi :) Thanks for the great and useful review. I just bought the 16" ZINUS SmartBase Heavy Duty Mattress Foundation. Haven't set it up yet. Bought a new Casper Select 12" Memory Foam Medium-Firm Mattress. Not sure how well this has held up for you over time if you've been using it. I was really concerned if it might not support my weight and size but it was really helpful watching your comments at 8:02 and especially at 8:15 :-). I'm 5' 10" tall and weigh about 240 lb. with a similar build to you it looks like. I think I'm going to tape some thicker cardboard boxes to the top to maybe distribute the weight better and keep the cross wires, or whatever they call those, from digging into my new mattress. @@trentsouth6390 It's great. But with a thicker mattress it sits up very high. I bought a little foldable 8.5" high Gorilla Ladders step stool for $15 at Home Depot so I don't have to fling myself up on the bed. But you can store a ton of stuff under the bed with that frame.
my 18" high king size frame came in a giant a** box )) i was waiting on to buy a mattress. so it's been sitting in there for awhile now taking up half the room )) i think i'm gonna unbox it today

Such a great and thorough review! I have already purchased this product but we recently moved so we disassembled the frame as it wouldn’t fit down our stairs and now the hardware is missing! I contacted the company but have had no luck with getting information on what screws etc I need to purchase to reassemble it. Do you happen to still have the instructions that possible list the size and type of hardware I need? Any help would be appreciated. :)

It's been a while, but my best memory is the whole thing folds up. There might be two small connecting bits that are separate.

Had this bed frame for about 3 years queen size the small steel bars started bending and snapping off went with the 14 inch homdock bed frame that can hold 3000 pounds
Can you say how long it lasted before the problems began?
Can i use this for a plat form bed king size to replace the box spring? Im hoping this would work for me and my husband
If your mattress is less than 10 years old, that should work. You do not need a boxspring with this platform bed, you just place your mattress directly on the platform bed.
If you'd like to add a headboard to this frame, you need to purchase the separate headboard brackets -- amzn.to/2J1GJL0
Does this only work when u have no bed frame.... would it work if I have a footboard and frame already but sit this inside of it
@@flyygyrrl -- probably not ... I would guess the footboard and frame would be too small to fit this inside it. But, you never know. Measure carefully!

Hi, I was on CZcams looking for videos on metal bed frame or boxspring, and came across your videos. Very interesting by the way. I JUST bought a platform bed that requires the use of a boxspring . I put the mattress on the bed without a boxspring and there's a huge space between the headboard and the mattress. So do you this this can work inside the frame Instead of the boxspring ?
I can't envision a platform bed that would "require" a box spring. Do you have a link, etc?

I watched this for help with my twin/full that looks like this. The instructions from Zinus were not very explanatory. Your video was very helpful. BTW twin/full is not shown on Amazon or the Zinus site. I got it through my Walmart grocery delivery.

Does it work well for memory foam? Seem like there is a lot of gab between the rail.
It says it works for memory foam, but if you're concerned you can always put a board under the mattress

I'm considering to buy the queen size, but since i saw it came in two units of single bed frame, i would like to know if it is sturdy to use just one frame out of the two? And for the space underneath the bed, is it large enough to store the other frame?
I would NOT recommend using only one side of the frame. I would use it as designed. Also, it's not large enough to store one side under the other side due to how the legs fall. thanks.

What's the measurement from the side front bar to the middle bar ? I'm trying to store a 55inch TV box under this if I get it .
Can anyone link me to somewhere where Zinus themselves state the weight limit of these bases? I was going to go by what this video says, then another place stated it was only half of that. None of the actual store pages seem to include this information which you'd think would be vital to something like a bed base!

Will I be able to use the two sides individually as two twin beds ?
In this video, I used a queen size. The two parts individually would be too narrow for twins. A king size mattress is the same width as 2 twin mattresses.

I can't find an official answer from Zinus. The Q&A section on Amazon says up to 2,500 lbs, but that's not an official source.

Sorry, because I review many things, I can't keep them all. I sold this after about 6 months. It was fine at that time.
