The 40s' erhu playing cannot be replicated no more because instrument making, music playing, etc. are changing. To me, the old-timers' erhu sound touches my heart. I have been practicing the erhu for the past 30 years. I love the gut string （絲弦）and am playing extensively erhus with gut strings.
周璇不愧是國民政府時期的金嗓歌后,聽她的歌就有如讓人置身國民政府時期的風華年代!

唱的版本，也非常經典。

周璇的原唱有人覺得好聽,還有覺得真是所有天涯歌女中最難聽的; 流行音樂的風格也是隨時代演變的,在當時的人認為周璇唱歌是好聽的,只是小調的唱法已經很久沒歌手這樣唱了,現代聽眾聽不習慣了,就覺得很難聽了
今天的哥好多是歌功颂德，有首歌 咱老百姓 很少听到了。
這種吊嗓子小調式的唱法, 幾十年前就不流行了, 所以聽不習慣是正常的
