Air Bud I was fine with. What utterly bewildered me was Castform's exclusion. It might not fly, but it floats in midair. It changes the weather, which is very much a sky thing. And, moreso than any of that, Mikey _loves_ that thing!

The Mightyena was required. Every single evil team in all of history uses the early route normal type on their team, and picking between the two in Hoenn, Mightyena sure seems a lot more evil.

Archie uses a Mightyena because dogs swim in the water. Maxie uses Mightyena because dogs both live and run on land, but I have never seen or heard of a flying dog.

I don’t understand John’s problem with Air Bud. Maxie and Archie both have Mightyena, so Mikey should as well. It’s a staple of the Hoenn Teams.
He called it a steed. Neither Maxie nor archie rode on mightyena, Archie used his sharpedo and Maxie used fire pokemon transport. Also, Mikey was trying to be an exception of the teams and to be superior

It would be pretty cool if John built a team around Deoxys, maybe like Team Cosmos? That way he can have a logical rivalry with Mikey, and his own cool team.
I actually have a better solution for that: Team Genome. Their mission statement is to expand the Pokémon genetic tree using DNA samples extracted from fossil Pokémon, and alien Pokémon, hence Deoxys's inclusion.
I had my own team idea myself, which the story of it was that I (the team leader) was a man who was born in aloha, and then I moved to unova to find and catch reshiram, the goal of my evil team, team neuron

Actually, Team Sky makes sense. Someone on Mikey's subreddit pointed put the fact that since Team Sky wants Rayquaza, who lives in the Ozone layer, they can use its power to put the ozone layer further away from the planet. Therefore expanding the sky. I don't remember if that's exactly what he said, but it was making sense.

@@ShadowSword88ee I'm not talking about that. And a dog can't breath underwater nor breath fire, yet Team Aqua and Magma have them. It's a matter of balance. If two of the teams from a trio of teams have it, then the third team of the trio has it as well.

John, every "evil team" has access to a pokemon equivalent to "rattata" and "zubat", that is to say, one of the earliest and most common "evil/annoying" pokemon you can run into in either the grass, or caves, regardless of their other affiliations. And, even though the Team Leader doesn't always use some variant on these, they do seem to have a "flex" slot that they can put any pokemon that can be seen as sufficiently aggressive or fitting into that position.
- Giovanni uses Persian (or Mewtwo in Ultra Sun/Moon), despite being a Ground Trainer. Archer... is disqualified, due to being a substitute leader and not giving enough information about his "typing" (he could be dark, poison, or have no typing at all).
- Archie only EVER has one Water type Pokemon (excusing Ultra Sun/Moon where he has Kyogre), while Maxie only has one Ground type Pokemon (excusing Ultra Sun/Moon where he has Groudon).
- Cyrus's theme appears to be "generic bad-guy pokemon", which he remains consistent with, mostly because how broad a category that is.
- Ghetsis and N have the theme of "any pokemon they can use", so there's not exactly a lot that can't fit, though Colress mostly keeps to a mechanical theme, only breaking it for Elgyem/Beheeyem.
- Lysandre doesn't even TRY to keep to his fire theme, with Pyroar being his only fire type, and happily using Gyarados and Mienshao.
- Guzma is the only "evil team" leader to keep entirely to an easily identifiable team typing that they use exclusively. That typing being Bug Type, which is the primary typing of ALL of his pokemon.
- Piers primarily uses Dark Types, but also uses Toxtricity. But that can easily fit if you change his theme to Rock & Roll, which I feel makes either Malamar the odd pokemon out on that team. Skuntank get's a pass due to it's tail giving it an artificial pompadour, which I believe was one of the first haircuts connected to Rock & Roll, and ONLY that.
I mean, Giovanni only had a Persian in Yellow and that was a reference to the Pokemon Anime
@@PlayerZeroStart Sure... but as this is about him being an "Evil Team Leader", you can also include his two earlier appearances with the Normal Type Kangaskhan in Red/Blue. The only time he didn't have a Normal Type on his team is when he was doing his job as a Gym Leader, so everything I said about him still stands.

@@ThatOneWeirdFlex If Pier's theme is changed to a more general "music" theme, then I would need to disqualify Skunktank, who only received reluctant acceptance due to the connection pompadour initially had to rock and role, specifically. Without that specificity, Skunktank is the odd one out, which is why I mentioned why it received a reluctant pass for Rock & Roll.

I like how he complains that there's still a mightyena on his team. Even thou almost every evil team leader has at least one dark type. You know because it's consider the evil type. I can actually appreciate Air Bud inclusion, it's basically the difference between playing as an evil team and a mono flying type run, so it's a good way of differentiating from a mono flying run aswell as associating with teams magma and aqua to assert dominance as the best dog trainer and the strongest typing

Probably any reptile. That makes it easier to pick a starter. Technically, birds are descendents of dinosaurs, so Torchic would actually be more accurate, but Treecko feels like the right choice for this.

For example, in a fictional backstory, he was a part of team sky and sent to another region in order to spread their influence but was so frustrated with Mikey he used this chance to defect and make his own team.
Granted it would likely be more difficult to then see them duke it in battle but there is this guy who draws Team Sky comics for MandJ meme reviews and it would be awesome to see them draw a comic with the two evil teams facing off
