- Here is our full step by step setup for a building-to-building line of sight 5Ghz WiFi link using two TP-Link CPE710 devices. This is for a customer who has multiple units in a small industrial area. One of the units is currently using a 4g router but cannot currently access resources on their main unit network and it's not a very stable or high-speed connection currently.
This solution is inexpensive and will link both units to the same network allowing them to have a single network across multiple locations.
You can find the CPE710 device here: amzn.to/3Td6drp - Věda a technologie
I swear to you that you are the best person who has explained the installation method smoothly and perfectly, thank you
That was easier and more straightforward than I expected. Nice one.
I’ve been binge watching videos on wireless bridges as I will probably install one rather than trench in an underground cable. Your video is much better than the others I have watched, but almost all of them distinguish the two units as a transmitter and a receiver. They are both actually transceivers (transmitters and receivers); if they were not, they would not be able to communicate wirelessly. But you also refer to them as an Access Point (AP) and Client, which is correct terminology for your application. (Master and Slave might also be appropriate in some applications.) Thanks for taking the time to dig into the configuration menus for this device.
Great explanation. The setup should go swiftly and with ease now. Thanks!
excellent, thanks so much.i just bought two of these to do exactly as you just demonstrated.
Great! You really test with a real equipment!
Great video! Setup was a breeze after watching this.
This was so educative and important. Thanks a lot.
This was so damn helpful, amazing work! Thank you so much I now connected 2 homes using networking
One helpful tip -
The Client configured device's output will be the Internet you will need to receive - just connect it to your home router's main WAN connection slot.
This way you can have one house transmit its internet from your server device
the other house can receive the transmitted network via the client - the client can have a router(s) connected which can transmit the network to it's devices
I am eternally grateful for yourm superb effort in how to set up these damn things...Sadly they are installed but I can still do as you suggest in situ.. I hope I have success....
best tutorial i’ve seen
Wow you're awesome man, you kill it. thanks man
These are great demonstrated set up
Nice details. Very helpfull
Amazing video. Very clear, real step-by-step configuration, very useful! I just want to ask you why did you set it up to only AC mode, when the devices support newer (and better?) options. Thanks!
Thanks
thanks.
Merci :)
How easy is it to align these units when 1km apart? I assume they are directional with a fairly narrow beam (or are they?). Thanks.
Excellent, helpful vid, though I would have liked to have seen the process of aligning the dishes (pan and tilt) in their final positions. The only thing I won't be doing is having an active radio sitting there with the feed horn point straight at my noggin...
Thank you for the vid. Had to edit this because I see you already answered the pairs question.
But one more question another RX pick up this TX signal, by another RX! I mean a smartphone, laptop, or IOT device and eliminate the need for the second device?
I hope I can make this question make sense.
Is it possible to configure these PtPs to (Wirelessly) Daisy chain each other?
What is the TP-link model of the POE adaptor ?
Hi there. Can I use this antenna while using a 4g hotspot to get a signal from nearest antenna?
Can the CPE 710 recibe signal ( RX ) from the base and transmit signal ( TX ) at the same time to a 3rd CPE 710 simultaneously ?
I've had this set up for about 9 months but want to update the device on the receiving dish end that people connect to I.e. plug cable from dish adapter into that people then connect to WiFi with as it was something old and spare and it's slow. Can I use something like the TPlink RE650 WiFi extender or does that cable slot on that only emit to wired devices or will it receive the cable signal from the dish and output it to wifi?
On the receiving (slave) side, can I then just connect a mesh router to the dish so I can connect wireless camera's etc? Trying to send wifi from our house, way out to the road so we can install some security camera's.
Would this configuration allow to access all resources on your LAN (at the location where the TX is located) from 1km away using the RX antenna? Since they need to be configured in TX/RX are they sold in pairs or you need to buy 2 separate units?
They are sold individually, however it's straightforward to set up and yes you'll have full access to your network whether at transmit or receive location.
Should the transmitter and receiver be in line of sight? I've some trees obstructing my second home.
With one transmitter unit can we connect mobile wifi for internet.?? Range.?
Great tutorial.
1. Can you pair different types of CPE’s? e.g CPE710 to CPE510
2. How about using CPE710 as access point and use EAP’s on the other end thus it work between CPE and EAP pairing?
Thank you from Cebu, Philippines.
Can we use one of these antennas to connect to public internet? Let’s say I am not far away from a shop that has internet. Is it possible to point the antenna to that shop and connect it then attach it to a router which then can give me internet?
Hi, could a single cp710 be used as an access point? i have an outbuilding across the yard i need to beam wifi into and this would be ideal as have line of sight straight into it
Yes. Your cell will pickup the wifi with just the AP. However, if you want to add a wifi router at the outbuilding, you need a client device.
I’ve done this and am currently watching this video troubleshooting as it suddenly stopped connecting; I’ve used it for four years without issue prior to this. Was beaming internet from the house to my garage on the property
hi, can i connect a wifi router to the rx?
Tp link and ubiquity are same frequency?
Can I connect the cpe610 to my work WiFi? Distance about 3km
The work WiFi radio is Mikrotic router.
How do I setup?
Nice work but to me it hard to set up lol maybe you can help me set up my via team view if you don't mind with that am here South Africa i like tp link CPE710
What if i want to connect to two or more devices as RX and one as TX, what are the steps to configure?
Can it deal with any obstructions? Say trees or rain?
What about 10 kilometers distance. Difference settings or the same?
How far can it sent internet when used as an access point?
Hello
Is it possible to get the WIFI signal from the transimmter into a std wifi router ?
OR do I neet a 2nd CPE710 unit to receive the internet?
then after doing this setup, do i need a router for receiver to use by - connecting it through Ethernet cable, because the receiver most probably would be in terrace and the pc or connecting device would be ground floor ?
I've setup 2 cpe successfully following these instructions but when I power down the AP it won't connect again until I factory reset both AP and client. Any help?
So you would do this from two buildings and then could plug an access point into the LAN port on the client unit correct? Then you could have WIFI inside even a metal outbuilding?
@@jamisonmunn9215 yes that’s correct 👍
I have tplink cpe 710 and I have gigabit switch with gigabit compatible ethernet cables but still tplink shows 100Mbps port and not 1000mbps
Perhaps you have the CPE605 which look identical but has lower WiFi speeds and 100Mbps port?
Pourquoi ne vous présentez-vous pas sur les téléphones ?
Hi there. Cool video and informative.
For example can i have one CPE in TX mode and two or more connecting to this unit in RX mode if they are all relatively in the line of sight of it the AP?
Yes you can configure then with one AP.
with one transmitter and 2 receivers??
can it be done in India as same with few changes ??
Do I need to buy two seperate CPE710 devices or does the box come with two? Thank you
You need to buy two, It's one per box. 🙂
@@FrimleyComputing ok thanks. Is there any application where you could use only one?
@@FrimleyComputing Is it possible to tx the wifi signal with one CPE710 and rx with an EAP225? Or do I still need 2 x CPE710?
@@TylerDouglas100 I was thinking along the same lines but in reverse with an EAP 225 for TX and CPE 710 for RX. In my case for a short 30 metre application of a garden office with an EAP225 already in place and sufficent for outdoor applications. @FrimleyComputing Can CPE710 RX from the EAP 225?
@@garry2416 I assume it can be done but would like someone with more XP than me to confirm it.
Why does it not appear on phones?
I'm wary of this product as it is vastly cheaper than anything of comparable performance. What's the catch?
I have one question.
Does anybody know if we can use it during internet ban?
You would be able to use it as an internal link between your buildings, regardless whether Broadband is running or not
I cant see my cpe710 AP WIFI in my phone
Hi poe name ? Thnx
Everything in your video falls apart at 4:57. Where does the 192.168.10 come from? The 10? How come your Angry IP search range is .10's? After that point where I connect my internet to the injector as you state, nothing ever works again. I have to do a hard reset on the CPE710. I downloaded Angry IP and ran the exact same scan using your exact same parameters and got nothing. Not a single live port. There seems to be a lot of holes in this process.
I think he use another pc to connect to cpe710
The pc which is already connected to the network.
He miss to mention this...
He use 2 different laptop's for this...
You can see desktop icons are different at that time
Dear sir can you show me how to connect 3 antena greetings to you and stay safe
I don’t know why but my unit keeps blocking. I seriously think tp link is a scam company. It’s slow and everything is as if we are in 2000. I thought to make use of this antenna but it was not possible. I had to unplug it many times from the power so I could get to the settings and when I did it just kept blocking or hanging. What on earth is this device that it can’t do what it was made for.
Nice solution, I've bought Ubiquiti units in the past, a lot more expensive and not getting the throughput figures I'm seeing here.
