- In this video I've had my Sisterlocks for a week and oh, what a week it was!
My locks were established on April 17-19, 2020
7-8 inches of hair - Type 4 of some sort

New subbie...est 5/23/20. I’m doing my first wash tomorrow. I had to wait 3 wks because of my hair texture. First reti is this Saturday 6/13. Your grid is on point, and that goodie bag your stylist gave you is everything! I haven’t started documenting my journey, but I plan to soon.

Just had my establishment 8.17.2022 and the freedom of just waking up fluffing and leaving. Haven't did my first shampoo. My loctician said to give them 2 wks. Slippage in the kitchen area, cause AZ heat have you sweating. But overall very happy with my choice. Also low density in the crown. Thanks for sharing, it's helpful to have a community.

I just love it. Your since of humor is real. My daughter acts just like you but sound like your mother when it comes to the locs. I don't know why I waited all these years to get sisterlocs.

I did a haul as well once I was established (6/21) and it's amazing how much money I spent frivously on trying to find the right product for my many variations of my natural hair.

Love this, your locs are beautiful. I am happy I started mine as well with my first month in. I donated my loose natural products to the YWCA they were grateful because they don’t receive a lot of Afro centric products in my area, it blessed me to do that❣️
I suck at braiding so I have been doing 2 strand twists and banding since I got my sisterlocks 3 months ago and thankfully it works just fine.

I got my locs established June 4, 2022!!! I know it hasn’t even been 2 months yet but man… My hair is scalpy! 😮 I can’t wait for the growth to happen. I love my hair more about 2 weeks after a retie! It loosens up nicely. 😄

I got my sisterlocks on 4/13. My loctitian gave me the same thick hair ties. She also gave me some hair gloves so my nails don’t snag best idea ever.
I need to find the hair gloves! Whew, my nails can attack my hair sometimes 😂

What were the recommendations by your loctitian in the event that you didn’t like the sisterlocks shampoo, if you don’t mind sharing. Mine just told me to wash one time with the sisterlocks shampoo and follow up with the suave clarifying shampoo 💁🏽♀️. Thanks!
Only SL shampoo for me. I used it for a yr then switched to the avalon lemon clarifying shampoo. 2yrs in now, I'm currently using VO5 clarifying shampoo.
She said to use a simple clarifying shampoo, but didn't give me specifics yet. I don't have a problem with the SL shampoo right now. We'll see how I like it as I continue this journey.

I thought the same thing Did I make the right decision 🤔 😅 I go for my first retie in less than 3 weeks. I have a whole kit and kaboodle of products. My loctician doesn't want to wash for three weeks. I haven't received my kit yet. 🤔 But, I am cool with trusting the process. 🥰 I am a reformed product junkie. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂👊🏽👏🏽👏🏽💣💯 You are too cute and funny.

Omg I'm in that now I went natural about 5 years ago.I have fine thin low density 4a-b hair and just have notfound the right products to help her grow and these edges well we not gonna get started. But I thinking going to do this myself cuz 1000 plus just isn't in my budget

My loctitian told me to wait 7-10 days before washing my hair. Now, I've heard that depending on your hair texture, you might have to wait longer. I washed mine after 7 days. It was probably too soon, but I didn't have any slippage after the first wash. After washing it a few more times and not securing my baby locs, some of them started to slip, but it wasn't an issue for my loctitian.

I used to braid it back into cornrows when it first got my locs established, mainly because I sweat a lot in my head and didn’t want my locs to slip. Now, I just pull it into a ponytail and put a headband on.
