There are bridges in the world that cross large bodies of water that have less engineering prowess that have gone into them than this residential swimming pool. Incredible!
And less concrete.
@@fredbugden6935 lol that's certainly a possibility. However, he's built it right.
It’s called Patey proof
Civil engineering doesn’t span past our tax dollars. The more hands in the kettle of corruption the shittier our tea tastes.
Mike’s attention to detail and capacity to foresee potential issues and address them up front is always a joy to watch.
2 mins in and i can see what you mean
At the beginning of this series, I was SOO disappointed by the temporary move away from building aircraft..... But I was TOTALLY wrong, this build has been AWESOME!
I bet this pool system is probably the world's most expensive, over engineered, and complex pool in the world. Excluding pools made out of precious metals and gemstones for bling. Amazing pool. Congratulations sir, for the vision, drive, and ability to design and execute a engineering masterpiece. 👏 👏 👏 👏
Please explain the "over engineered" parts. I must have missed something.
@@ralphgesler5110
Did you watch the previous episode?
@@ralphgesler5110 theres 2 ladders
This guy does not get enough credit for the stuff he does
Guy is an engineering genius and a master fabricator. Could probably design, engineer, and fabricate his own space rocket to rival SpaceX or blue origin if he had the same funding as those two billionaires
@jmangus83 and can you imagine the good Mike would for his community.
Hey media is about the pets of the Juden not about actually valuable people.
He also doesn't get enough sleep by the sound of it. I'm sure he puts in a full day at Best Tugs before working all night on the house build.
@@TrevorDennis100 Mark runs best tugs, Mike runs some of their other businesses.
No doubt hes working all day and working on the house, planes etc. the man is an absolute machine! I envy his drive. 😂
Jaw on the floor. Nothing like this in the world. Absolutely insane level of engineering
Marks son has crazy welding skills. TIG welding stainless in a safety critical application is next level stuff. This whole family must’ve got a Touch of talent in their DNA.
Sure thing my guy
I just like looking at the orange lines that mark the areas he's talking about. It's fascinating how it's the first time I've encountered this technique in YT videos of builders that explain stuff but this is genius and is so helpful for the viewer. I watch so many similar videos that should use that effect. Bravo to the editor
Also, cool house ;)
Mike is a real genius. He does the work to take an idea to finished product with his own mind and hands. ( and credits those who help him )
He can explain it in detail in ways that most anyone can understand. And he does it without insulting anyone.
Mike is amazing.
Helps having the $ to back those ideas. I have a disability that makes me bed bound and the things I think of being a former electrician for 10 yrs are insane and I have a journal of inventions but I know they’ll never go further than my book but if feels better that they are somewhere!
I wish there were safety rails along the pool edge, great job!
Yeah amazing, the ladder at the edge, all the cables, just a little oversight can end catastrophic.
Well they wouldn’t be necessary once the pool is finished. So it would end up being quite a waste of money and they would get in the way during construction. And then more money to remove them when the pool is finished.
@@shibasurfingThere are temporary guardrail systems that are freestanding.
@@shibasurfing Costs less than the payout he would be paying in a lawsuit if someone falls during construction.
No doubt. If I die I'm just drunk Eddie, if he dies there's no Draco number two or scrappy.
I have a feeling this is the sort of project that will survive to be studied by archaeologists thousands of years from now. Fantastic update.
Mr. Patey, beyond any shadow of a doubt you possess the GREATEST MIND of ALL TIME when it comes to physics, all disciplines of math, engineering, construction, mechanics, design, and pretty much anything else that, as a random thought, rifles through your mind!!! I am completely in awe of all of the projects that you highlight in your videos. I am simply unable to get enough of your videos! Anytime I find myself with free time on my hands, I jump to your channel and start binging to my heart's delight! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy all of your awesome creations!!!
As a 26yr who struggles with being tired all the time you inspire me to "get back to work!!!" Ty for being ana amazing human being.
Another exceptional video. It occurs to me that as the videos come to and end, I am left wishing that it was longer, the explanations deeper and that I too was a part of the project.
I so fun to watch. I built a giant water feature with an ex Nasa engineer, that did everything you are doing right wrong :). Its a pleasure to see somebody that does not cut corners and thinks things through.
I simply can't fathom your intelligence, skill, mental strength, energy and drive! Very few people if any with ALL these qualities. Great work, - now GET BACK TO WORK! 👍 👏 💪
The fall hazard is making my stomach hurt lol. Amazing work as always!
Yeah. I'd thought the same thing before. No railings around the top. A disaster waiting to happen. Yikes!
Probably also invented jet packs that swoop down like iron man to catch you.
There is actually a motion activated electromagnetic safety system. Each person in the area is wearing a steel mesh suit that will allow them to be captured in mid air. @@burz
Railings around a pool? I've never seen any pool with railings around it. Kinda defeats the purpose of pool. How would you get in?
Have you ever heard of scaffolding? @@Airplanefish
what we can all wish to this man is long happy years to enjoy this House when is done with friends and Family !
Can’t get enough of these pool and house design vids. Love the detail he goes to, and how he explains what and why.
I watched this guy build planes and new he was extremely good at it, but this engineering on his swimming pool is incredible, his brain never shuts off I’m sure
I would watch every second of a 2 hour in-depth tour of this highly engineered and functional masterpiece. I have loved every video and wish they were longer!
Finding out the pool floor moves dropped my jaw. This is insane
Once again, thank you Mike for taking us along for the journey of this build.
Can’t wait to see how amazing the finished product is going to look!
This is simply unreal. Mike, you are a rare man. Such an inspiration.
Hats off to knowing a few people in the world have such a diverse knowledge base. Most I know, even the smart ones are very good at one thing and not great at others things. Plus I am pretty sure there is zero sleep involved in most days. So to handle all of this and all the engineering involved shows us all that we can all be better at what we do.
Very cool pool. The irrigation setup that you had for the valves is genius. You should have a safety railing around the pool. That is a long way down if someone was focused on taking a video and fell down there. All the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put you back together if you took that fall.
Each time I watch something new added, I keep thinking just "How Crazy Is Mike Now?" Wow what a project.
I haven't seen this comment yet but thank you so much for the mid video highlights about which part of the pool you were talking about. I know doing that was a little more work but it was a very much welcome addition. This is looking really nice.
Man, these videos really make me wish I had $20 million to build a house.
I think I know how he made the money to execute his dreams: Talent+vision+work ethic+business savvy+nice guy. Deserves all he’s got. He is the American Dream personified. ❤
@@charlesdavis7940 Oh, I don’t doubt that for a minute. Mike and Mark are two of the hardest working, most dedicated people on the planet. Extremely smart, and and ability to work 20+ hours a day to achieve his dreams. I just wish I had the money to hire him to design, and engineer a home I could have built with a 25’ deep dive pool on the river in the Rocky’s.
I’m surprised you’re not building a fake coral reef to scuba and swim around! This is a really cool project Mike, I’m sure you and your family will really enjoy this house.
The moving platform might squish then fish
@@damham5689 I know, it was an indirect way to say how detailed he’s been about the project and how many cool features he’s implemented. Plus fish wouldn’t really do well in chlorine 😉
He mentioned he's using salt water I believe. @@Addimotive
As a diver I fully approve of having a pool like this at home, absolutely awesome. Can’t wait to see it finished and being used! 🤙💦
I love the way you think. Miss my dad because he solved problems in a practical way, like you. The way your garage/worksite/business looks like is the way your mind looks like.
You have mega money, but at least youre having fun with it!!!👍🏼🇺🇸
Geeze, I just had to give up my dream of building an RV-8 and Mike is making me want my own scuba diving hole. Tell me more baby! What shovel do you recommend? LOL. Seriously, can't wait to see the finished product. It's going to me Mike Patey INCREDIBLE.
Once again, just awestruck.
You are a genius man....the levels of engineering that you've put into this are staggering.
Amazing knowledge shared freely with lots of clear moving pictures. I've worried over Mike's nonchalant attitude toward personal safety during his fabrication & construction videos; I've eased that by concluding since he operates on such a higher level than most of us, he has plenty good karma. I don't want to talk about it because it's working so freaking well.
There’s money, and then there’s MONEY! This is going to be sick and you deserve every bit of it 🤝
Mike,
Every video that you release is so full of valued content. I really like how technical you lay everything out. You’re a great teacher to all of us out here. Keep it up 👍🏻
The thought, engineering and detail going in to this build is mind-blowing
Very cool house build. Your very serious about aviation SAFTEY but very relaxed when in comes to your work place SAFTEY not only you but your FAMILY and CONTRACTERS. Please hook up when working at heights and working near edges.
Excellent over engineered and built to outlast planet Earth! Awesome stuff....
I'll tell you Mike, I am VERY impressed with your work, no matter the project. However, after watching your videos, I confess I don't know where you get the energy. But right now after watching, I have to take a nap. Keep it going - just gotta see the finished product.
Next level engineering! Great job, man.
I've been remodeling high end residential interiors for 25 years. Nevermind the rest of the house..... this project alone has enough details to make your head spin. I'm shocked that you were able to find the right sub contractors to build your vision. I'm in the process of developing a new career path because its nearly impossible to find like minded craftsman who subscribe to the building sciences. Great work!
An Unbridled Work Ethic. You just don't this Much anymore. AWESOME, Bro.
Mike will eventually reveal that the moving pool floor is a piston, and a cylinder head is currently being designed. In times of trouble Mike will be able to power the neighborhood with his low rpm high torque pool power station.
Good work!
This so insane! I love it! Mike and Mark are amazing on so many levels. Thanks for the great content!
This series has been absolutley incredible to watch. I am astonished with your level of attention to detail. One thing that is surprising to me is the tile work in the bottom of the pool seen up close at the 12 min mark of the video when Mike is laying down. No one will see it when the pool is filled up, but when it becomes the dance floor, they will be clearly visible. Small detail I know, but just surprised me with how particular Mike is with every single detail. Not trying to be a controversial commenter, just something small I noticed. Other than that, this is insanely incredible!
You're the best Mike! The engineering is mind-boggling!
Of course the Patey kids a competent TIG welders... no surprises there!
I think I get it now, Mike cannot be from this planet. Nobody can have this much energy and brains can be a natural born earthling.😁
Living proof aliens are real. Unreal thinking.
Agreed lol 😂 Mike is the man!!
What can I say.... you are brilliant, expecting planes but still awesome!
Just Like the Genius of Colin Chapman of Racing Fame: Make things Serve More Than One Function! You are AMAZING, Mike!
But this project is far from simple and add lightness.
Insane amount of engineering, simply stunned by your knowledge👏🏻
Out of EVERYTHING I watch on CZcams, this build is absolutely the most interesting thing I’ve seen!! I wish like anything I was 1/4 as smart as @MikePatey !! Holy crap talk about an engineering PRODIGY!!! Mike takes the cake 100%!! I’m seriously blown away by this and can’t wait to see him finish his vision here!! I’m sure this is going to be in ALL the magazines, all the diy/construction/engineering/pool/home and garden videos on the internet.. When you really watch this, and think.. “Ok, a gallon of water weighs 8.33lbs… x however many hundreds/thousands of gallons PLUS the weight of the moving concrete floor” this is almost unfathomable for my brain to comprehend.. Just pure genius.. Stay blessed @MikePatey and Merry Christmas to you and your family brother!!
Every time I think this is absolutely insanely thought out, overengineered and all around crazy, Mike comes around with an other: 'Wait, there's more!'
Your channel is on point. Don’t let the comments mess.. I binged everything. 🎉
You are an inspiration to what I hope I can provide my family with in future .The things you do are insane
I am so glad I found your channel, I love all the detailed explanations as it helps me “picture” everything!!
In 150 years this will be a museum!
this house is absolutely incredible. i am in awe of your design and execution sir. glad youtube algo some how sent me to your vids
Thank you for watching!!😊
Have you considered the spin-axis wobble of the Earth in your ladder design?
This series is amazing. I hate to say this, but I cant wait to see the fixes to any small issues that come up once this thing is up and running. The amount of thought and planning that went in to this pool is mind blowing.
Holy hell Mike, you are such a machine! Not quite sure i fathem how keep such an insane level of energy going! :D Inspiriring, nonetheless! LOVE your content!
I think MIke is going to be an ASTRONAUT.. I think he is building this to practice for a SPACEWALK
Wow, just .... WOW. I especially like how you channel your OCD into making a masterpiece. This is impressive, on a scale that nobody will ever duplicate. True masterpiece.
Quality Mike
You are an absolute mad man, the good kind!
Mind blowing HOW MIKE he is so a extraodinary intelligent man
WONDER IS He A GIFTED OR A RISK TAKER ????????????????
Good morning from Minnesota! I'm always amazed at how far forward thinking you are! Can't wait to see what's next!
This would take any pool company YEARS!!!
So fired up to get out of church and see my favorite engineers got a new house build update video! Love it Mike!
Mike please show us more of the process of project management, design, engineering, and coordination. Anyone who has worked on an architecture project knows every little detail - like the ladder connection - requires meetings, design options, code compliance, fabrication prep etc. It would be fascinating to get some insight into how you work and innovate in that area
A water slide with a few curves on top would’ve made this the perfect project.
Iv been following Mike for years now and have watched this entire project become to life. Id love to see a video going over a break down of all the costs with expressions of any savings that were inquired because of Mike doing it all himself, IE, being his own contrator.
This build is incredible, floored by every video.
Love watching and learning all the engineering and perfect precise building and installation. I sure hope we get to see the completed project in all it's amazing glory!
Thank you for sharing your creative genius and projects with us very interested fans and enthusiasts!

Wow Mike just Wow! It will be so nice when its done. Can't Wait.
Can’t begin to imagine the cost of this build.

That’s a huge project and you’ve definitely helped you local businesses with the sheer size of this new build. I’m watching in December so guessing your a few months in arrears showing us this build. I can’t wait to see the finished product. That pool in itself will be something to see operate.👍👍🇨🇦
5k views in the first 30 min of the video being up. Safe to say we appreciate this content too 😂😂
LONG LIVE MR MIKE
I think you need to start a Mike Patey - Engineering a dream home channel, and just keep building homes for your kids and stuff. Build them for the new Airport y'all will have. Build them for the homeless. You're awesome, and I love hearing about the engineering. I often wonder what it is like to have your thoughts together like you do. You don't seem to skip a beat. Meanwhile, I think at about 1 fps, as I try to have a spontaneous conversation.
This is so inspiring to see someone doing absolutely everything correctly and thoroughly. Every detail, no matter how small, has been meticulously thought out.
Surely you jest, he didn't spend 5 minutes thinking of anyone's safety.
This is the coolest season of cribs ever!
I love how over-engineered and thought out everything mike does! It's so good to see a quality building job! I see far too much shitty workmanship in my day to day construction over here in Australia...
I can’t wait to see this final product, absolutely amazing
I am engineer who doesn't fly and watch all your videos - great stuff Mike and you must have Saints for neighbors with all this activity going on!
Mikes at it again!!!!! Back to work.
I'll be damned if this isn't approaching SpaceX level engendering. One could see a rocket launching out of that silo! Nothing too strong ever broke!
The super-cut of all these build videos is going to be epic. 🤞🏻🙏🏻😇
Mike, this is a very beautiful build, I wish you were close, I would love to see this beast in person... Well, looking forward to watching your next video, thank you for sharing.
Ps Don't be shy and reach out to me if you need a second opinion.
wow I'm super impressed and that doesn't happen very often. Go you x
Wow, what a project! Have your neighbors started asking questions about working all night on the giant pool?
This has to be the most advanced pool setup! An engineering marvel but really it's the effort and execution that is something to aspire to
