- "Not every ball needs to be a Black Widow!"
Some bowling balls are better playing straighter and some balls are better playing in and hooking around the pattern. I thought for sure this ball was going to be better playing straighter and struggle when moving in...
Now, after throwing it I think this ball might be the Masterkey to unlocking high scores on any pattern you might face!

With the help of SPECTO data, it'll help tell the story about reaction shape, overall hook and continuation through the pins. Here are the SPECTO data points used and definition of each term:
Launch Speed - Speed measured off the hand.
Entry Speed - Speed measured at the pins. (What you'd see on your home center MPH screens)
Rev Rate - Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)
Launch Angle - The angle the ball traveled the first 10 feet.
Break Point Position - Board at which the ball was at its outermost position.
Total Hook - Total number of boards the ball crosses on the way to the pins.
Hook Power - Number of boards the ball hooked based on the True Breakpoint.
Entry Angle - The angle of the ball between 51 and 55 feet.
Impact Angle - The angle of the ball between 57 and 59.5 feet.
Pin Deck Exit - Ball position at the end of the pin deck.

Randy felt that third shot. 😂🤣
Ball motion looks sick for something with a low flaring core.
Hammer coming out with all the goods! 😍
Thank you for making this amazing video about bowling ball
Very impressed with the intro to the video....I see 25K subscribers in your future!
Love the look of this ball. Love playing straight and this could really be a plus
I enjoyed watching this video about bowling ball
I would love to see this on a sport shot with a lower ratio. I think that’s where this ball is going to really shine.
Word.
Could have used the ball today in my senior tournament.
Yes, I would think this ball would work well for the Open Championships as an alternative to urethane?
Looks like a great low ball
Another great video Nick…also I got the PBA ball…thank you very much…it’s awesome!
Enjoy the ball! Congrats again!
Cool video talk tech bowling ball
This reminds me of how the Teal Rhino Pro behaves. I'm not too good with opening the angles and I struggle to get it to the pocket. But throwing it straighter between 2nd and 3rd arrow is where i have a ton od success with it.
Can't wait to buy this hammer bowling ball and Can't wait to buy black widow 3.0
My fave ball reviewer!! Great ball!!
Thanks for that! 😎
Always my pleasure my friend! Keep em coming!
Already ordered mine…guess I’ll be getting two😂 Another great option for the two handers! Thanks for the effort you put into these videos. Love the data and education for bowlers! Going to be a good 2024😎
2 handere are just the bowlers who aren't good enough or coordinated enough to hook it one handed. Just the easy way. It's trash.
@@breeze7863 😂 can’t fool me with that macho façade lol
Mine is waiting at the PSO for me to pick up. I think it will be a nice compliment to my Scorpion Sting 🦂 🔨 Start with the LF and migrate left with the Sting. Hammer time!
Looks like a two hander dream
Thanks for your reply 👍🏻 Keep up the great content 🎳
Out of the past balls I was a big fan with the arson low flare pearl with the weaker layout. While my dad loved the backlash red and purple because it really didn't flare much. Maybe this might be good for me.
You hit the nail on the head. I bought one last month and it's the perfect ball when your uranthane is done.
Is the envy tour solid stronger than the scorpion lf? Which one goes down the lane furtherc
It's looking very strong at back in
Hey Nick, Happy New Year. As always appreciate all you do with your content. Helps tons. Seeing as you are moving away from comparisons this years I’d have to ask since this seems to overlap the Purple Solid Reactive would that hint at discontinuing it sooner than later. Same with the BW 2.0 solid since the 3.0 solid is already out?
Secondly, I’m assuming this is a 3piece construction ball?
Thirdly, as I said on IG. Rambo First Blood is a Xmas movie as well as Die Hard 🤣
lol Rambo. Those thick shell Hammers likely aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. They’re very different than the rest. And 3.0 is not a replacement for 2.0, they’re different with the HK22 to be noticeably different. And yes this has core, outer shell and cover.
Finally Hammer brought out something that would compete with the IQ Tour since the core numbers are very close though I think Semtex is a little stronger than R2S. But I am also curious how close this is to the Rattler with the colors and core numbers being pretty close as well.
I have this ball. Since late ApriI. I like it better on shorter sport patterns, and medium volume sport patterns. Then I do on a regular house shot.
That makes since though my slow ball speed makes me rev dominate. So as long as I hit my inteneded target the scorpion low flare works well for me most of the time.
I also have found it uselful. As a ball down option on the longer heavier volume sport shots. When my Envy (original) and my BW 2.0 hybrid are too strong. Once The pattern starts to transition.
Im wondering how it would pair with my scorpion . I love that ball rn
As a guy with high rev rate and loves to hook it and use urethane, will this ball be good benchmark ball if necessary?
What's up with your pinsetter? Great video (as always!)
Reminds me of the Web Tour
Wow Nick, this ball really looks great. Might even be a fit my 1960's style.
Question: Does the Carbon Fiber filler work the same way the DynamiCore filler does on Brunswick balls?
Increasing the C.O.R.?
Similar but I think it was more for the adhesion of outer core to coverstock so there wouldn’t be separation or cracking
Hmmm, wonder if this would drop in a little better than my Purple Solid? I play that purple solid right up the 10 and break point at about 7.... This ball looks like I could play into a little more oil and keep it a couple boards more of angle....
I would love to see this ball compared to the Rhino Pro.
I love the rhino pro. I’ve put 1000, 1500, 2000, & 3000. It takes any of those surfaces so well. Also keeping a low grit with polish or compound on top (1500 or 1000) both look very good with it. Definitely my ball of 2023
How close you think this is to the Vintage Phantom from a few years ago? Been looking for something similar to that and the Envy Tour has been the closest I could get. Looking for a symmetrical ball though so hoping this could be the answer.
It’s similar, though this cover seems to be better from multiple angles. At least for me.
Nicks gonna bowl a 300 with this ball I bet
This ball looks amazing! Would this be a good replacement for Knockout Bruiser spot in the bag?
Might be a little weaker but it is smooth like KO Bruiser. A lot less flare.
One of the houses I bowl at has a notoriously over/under house shot. Been throwing an Obsession Tour on it and loving the strong, blendy shape it makes.
I’ve got a Widow 2.0 hybrid that I love using to open up my angles but I don’t like to move too far left in that house; breakpoint can get reeeeally touchy from deep.
Would you agree that this seems like a good step down option if I want to stay in the same zone and keep blending the reaction when transition sets in?
It should give you a little bit more backend when the Obsession Tour starts to roll forward. Move in a few boards and switch to the Scorpion Low Flare being symmetrical
interesting. it starts early but doesn't turn super hard and is continuous this might be worth trying out!
Low flare just helps project down lane but it won’t go sideways.
I have the dark web hybrid and really like it as my benchmark ball and step up from the NU. Do you think this ball is different enough to have both?
Might be a small step down from Dark Web Hybrid, not sure how much of a gap you see between NU and DWH.
Would love a video explaining your finger layout. I've never seen that before.

Thinking this would make a nice little trio with the Black Widow 3.0 and my creature comfort Fireball
Drill it the same layout as all my other balls? Or use a low flare layout to? 2 hander 16,6 Speed 450 rev
Pretty much however you drill it it won’t flare much.
Nick, this type of ball is good for a speed dominant bowler, but I don't see it working for a bowler with softer speed. It definitely is a control ball, so I can see it being a good one to use on fresh patterns, but the margin of error will be too small for a bowler who doesn't throw it hard. Thanks for the review - much appreciated.
Rg and diff match up really closely to the NU blue. I put 2000 on my NU would you say that they play similarly?
No, not at all. The coverstock strength and RG's are very different.
Oh I thought I read 2.51 for the NU. But it's 2.58.
How’s does this compare to the rhino pro?
Stronger for me.
how is this ball compare to track sensor solid?
Seems cleaner and more on the back since it’s hybrid and not solid.
is this alot like a Sensor solid?
I have it a little cleaner and more on the back compared to Sensor Solid.
Hi! I regularly bowl on a typical house shot! Do, you recommend? Regards Bruce
Yes it’s good on house for controlling the track.
My low flare scorpion flares just shy of 5 inches. That's OK. Black Pearl, purple hammer, nu blue, scorpion all compliment each other well.
How does this ball compare to the envy tour solid?
envy tour solid is a bit stronger and earlier, i think there is a youtube video somewhere
Slower response and more continuous for me. Envy Tour is asym so it’s a been quicker competitively.
Is their a ball u wish Brunswick would bring back if so what is it
Combat Zone Tracer
How does it compare to the Envy Tour Solid?
Seems like a little less overall hook and slower response because it’s symmetrical.
@@brunsnickwhich one would you prefer scorpion LF or envy tour solid?
@@teeghost239 I prefer Envy Tour because it’s asym
Do you think this would be a good companion ball with the Hazmat? For when the lanes are broken down? Thank you for all your good information.
This is a better ball on the fresh to smooth out the ball reaction when the lanes are crisp on the backend. Then you’d switch to Hazmat and start moving in.
@@brunsnick Thanks a bunch.
is this ball stronger then the sneak attack
Yes.
Hey Nick. Would this be much stronger than the purple solid reactive?
Yes, a bit earlier motion too.
Brunsnick how does it compare to the original Rattler?
Seemed stronger and better from in for me.
This ball looks more usable than many. A lot of new balls are too strong for the minimal amount of oil and all the dirt outside. It looks like you can throw it 3 games in league and not move a continent left. Good job.
can you drill one up with a low flare layout and put it on a short flat pattern? more of a true comparison to "a little above urethane"
Probably not. I don’t recommend drilling any symmetrical ball pin down.
@@brunsnick i wasnt talking about a pin down. Something like a 90 x 1.5 x 55
@@caddyjoe77 ahh.
Should I get this one or the BW 3.0 as a novice looking to get serious...don't really have any preferences of my own yet, just want to throw a nice one handed hook and crack 200
If you’re just starting out, I’d say Scorpion. Start with a symmetrical ball until you get a little more consistent.
@@brunsnick thank you that was an incredibly fast reply!! 😊 Is there anything you'd recommend over the scorpion? I currently have my Dads old 80's era Roto Grip UC2 16lbs and a 14lbs Hammer Hawg Wild from 2006 in my inherited arsenal 😂
@@TheRiffingFatboy I mean it’s hard to recommend one ball over another not knowing how you bowl, but something middle of the road is where you want to be. Scorpion is perfect. GB5 another. Breakaway.
@@brunsnickCheers Nick! The Low Flare I bought in April just cracked in half on me last night, all the way from the ring finger hole around the whole ball and into the thumb. Do you think Hammer will cover it under warranty?
@TheRiffingFatboy as long it was drilled properly, I don’t see why not.
Too much overlap with the NU? (Two handed lefty here)
Not at all. Much stronger cover here.
I own this ball as a returning bowler after a 40 year absence-- It's 16 lbs -- I am a 13-14 MPH guy with medium revs --- I am wondering if a 15 lb ball will help ?
Yes, drop down in weight! 👍🏻 Even 14 might be a good option.
Would this be for dry to light oil. My house breaks down quick
No not really. It’s strong and smooth.
@brunsnick yea i got it and it was only good for one game started drying up and carry down so I went to a long ball believe it or not my 1995 quantum raven and kicked butt the next 2 games. I hear the track Theorum is awesome. I got a dv8 hater comin and then prob get that track ball.
Where have I heard the "most versatile hammer/Brunswick/ebi" claim before...
I’m just asking the question.
'That was so money'.
25 left, when? lol. Honestly it looked pretty good all around, but inside was crushing.
Out of room going left lol unless I walk around the ball return.
how would you compare this to the Teal Rhino Pro?
This is stronger and a bit earlier I think.
@brunsnick appreciate the feedback. 👍🏻
I have the Teal Rhino pro, Black Widow 2.0 hybrid, and 3-D Offset Attack right now, was thinking of adding something to add a little more versatility.
Can nobody at Brunswick adjust the setter on that lane? So many open pockets!
We’re getting new machines soon.
None of those shots were straight off the hand 5:58
“Straighter”
Im kind of new to bowling, about 4 or 5 years into playing on a league. You say your throwing it straight, but that does not look straight to me?? Does that mean more hook or less hook...I need a ball with LESS hook...
Straighter to start. More hook as I go and move left.
what do you suggest on a ball?@@brunsnick for LESS HOOK
Nickname love your videos. I just started watching. Where is your starting point? Feey/eyes plz.
Stand on 15, eyes 10-11, usually drift 5 left
Pretty sweet ball...but I already ordered the 3.0 sorry
3.0 wayyy to strong 💪
