    Been servicing these for over 20 years and the most important part a customer can do is be aware of the weekly exercise. If it doesn't exercise and it needs more than oil, just call us. It will probably be cheaper to get a qualified tech to solve the problem than to straighten out what the customer screws up. The book says plugs will last 400 hours but in my experience it will need a valve adjustment closer to 250 hours. Plugs are cheap and you have to pull them to adjust the valves so might as well put new ones in at the same time. BTW, you want to do a quick load test on the battery? After changing the oil, just shut off the gas, and let the board do it's 3 cranking cycles with the switch in the manual position while monitoring a volt meter. (10 seconds crank, 10 seconds pause x 3) You have now load tested the battery and primed the oil filter under a no load condition. You have also checked that the control board faults after 3 failed start attempts. This is one of the safety items that should be checked at each service.

      @wigwamman1… Maintaining things is only one aspect. Repairs and knowing how to spot small problem before it becomes a BIG problem takes years of experience. I have no issue with the home owner doing maintenance, but years of experience tells me they won't notice half the things that I see on a daily basis. That's where we part ways and I suggest someone who is qualified and trained by the factory.

    Mine is a Generac Quietsource, & has a radiator, so coolant to check, too. I'd think this one would also, but I'm just learning. Mine is a little older.

    It's a great instructional video and helped me fix my Generac generator. I had errors showing on the panel every couple of months that I saw yellow and/or red light at the side. When this happened, the crack attempt would fail. I turned it off reset it by pushing the ENTER twice as instructed in the video and it worked. Thank you so much. Do you or anyone here know the reason for this recurring problem? Is there something I should fix before it becomes serious and not fixable by pushing ENTER twice? THANKS.

    What about inspecting/replacing the spark plug(s)? Thanks for the helpful video.

    the panel, board, functions to give you the battery condition , Hrtz,Rpm, and on some models for voltage under run and load!
    Actual run time vary important, is available on that unit also, great for future reference !Take the time to log in the board work performed.
    Check valve lash with finger in blow back tube port as you look for excessive moisture or oil in tube end.
    Spark plug condition? Take nothing for granted, propane and natural gas are an atomized fuel, wet, check and or replace plugs before you do the run check. Best way , check battery with D.C. Reading on cranking action, may also give up issues with starter and solenoid .
    Pre charge your filter while your waiting for the drain out, you will note no less than three times. Six total minutes more, all this is accomplished.y

    Very Easy way to save $450-500 if you have it done twice a year. I would even supervise :) The service kit is about -$20 on line with free shipping. Save more if you only change the oil the second service. I personally don't think it is necessary. Since in 6 months it runs only 26 times 10 minutes = 2.3 hours. Generac states an oil change is required after 200 hours or every 2nd year using synthetic oil. which they use!BTW my battery died so I have to put a new one in. About $40+ at Wal-Mart. No different than changing one in a car. Hope the charger is still working!

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 Před 5 lety

      Robert Garcia... I also hope the charger is working because on the model shown in this video it's part of the control board. ($450 last I looked) OTOH, I have never seen the charger function on this board go bad, and we are one of the larger dealers in the northeast with thousands of customers.

    Bad way to orient the battery terminals. The screen is metal, the unit vibrates quite a bit. Terminals should always be contained within the battery footprint.

    I have a Generac 15KW Guardian Plus, model # 0043903. Last July, Ithe battery was dead, and the battery charger was only putting out 1.5 volts. I replaced the battery charger and recharged the battery. Last month, I found the battery dry, and the charger was putting out 24 volts. What is going on with the battery chargers? Or is it the battery?

  • @johnmilner7603
    @johnmilner7603 Před rokem

    Spark plugs need to be checked per run time hrs and also the valve lash. I checked my valve lash on the John Deere X300 this past summer and the lash was too large by .009.

      AC line power is used to run a small battery maintainer which will keep the 12v battery fully charged.
