Thank you. This was great. I like seeing the equation written out like this. My book was really overcomplicating things. If I just write out the equation as you did and add some arrows, I can easily visualize the problem.

what I couldn't wrap my head around at first was using EI to determine what was sold. So I was just memorizing the formula but it wasn't clicking. so, what you have minus what you sold equals what you have left to me is more straight forward. I'm assuming businesses don't know exactly what they sold until they calculate EI, but I think I get it now :)
